I'm gonna be using Julius. If you're using Sayomi, and Squishy uses either Silas or Guzol, then they're basically subordinates or already-known friends of his anyhow. At that point, we would just need to come up with a good reason for why they're in the Deku Tree/something like it in the first place.
I was thinking of using Locke since this is in the Lost Woods or close to it :0 but yeah Guzol could work as well
Sayomi and Julius (and Guzol, if used) could be there on a mission to get rid of the evil within the great deku tree, or chanced across it and took the opportunity to do so. As for the others, there would need to be a different reason.
Nicholas could be there just to see the Great Deku Tree itself. He is traveling anywhere of interest he hears about. The tree isn't a secret is it? If not then he could just happen to be there and decide he can't stand aside and do nothing about something evil. (Plus it would be a great addition to his journal) A bit flimsy of a reason though. Also, he has quite the distaste for the Royal family and by extension the guard. So this could be interesting...
Alice could be there because the Tree called her or something. It'd be funny if the Great Deku Tree is surreptitiously trying to have her "put down" because she's so far gone.
