    Armored Weight: 250 lbs.

    Equipment:

Zora Mail: What was once Julius's typical mail has since become obsolete. Amongst his journeys, he has found himself with ample savings of cash -- enough for a suit of famed Zora mail. Obtained during the Festival of Mortal Hands, this suit of mail was crafted by a Zora smith -- unfortunately they had no such chance to exchange many pleasantries, aside from business. Nevertheless, it is clear to Julius that he was no small smith -- this armor has worked well, and at first even gave him a newness of breath. Indeed, the magic trapped within its three deep sapphire stones embedded into the center of its ebony plate seems to have been well placed, though Julius himself has no understanding of such magic.

The armor itself is quite sturdy: interlocking ebony plates cover the majority of his body, and underneath that, is a layer of pastel blue scales, seeming to defend his body with approximately as much strength as scale mail. This pastel backing is quite apparent when looks at him from behind -- it is the only spot of his armor where ebony plates do not defend him. The reasoning for this, that the smith provided, was to enable the wearer to swim more fluidly though the water. This is further backed by the overall ocean-like motif that decorates the armor: clamshell pauldrons sit atop his shoulders, and grooves like waves decorate his armor. They're not especially prominent however -- just further emphasis on being able to swim while wearing the armor.

From a design-centered perspective, such as a jeweler's, several things would become immediately noticeable: first of all, the armor itself is trimmed with a bluish gold mineral, called Lapis Lazuli. It is especially prominent around the edges of his pauldrons and the collar of his breastplate, where thick rings circle around, contrasting rather well with the almost pitch plates of his armor. And finally, in the stomach of the breastplate, lies a Zora crest. Accented with gold, the crest itself contains three sapphires, all of which seem to be the color of the sea: a deep, dark blue.

As Julius had initially bought only the mail itself -- and not the full set, as it was intended to be, he has, over a length of time, forged matching pieces for himself: an ebony helm, decorated with an embossed golden Triforce. The helmet is also trimmed with gold as well -- particularly around its eye slits, and the crest of the helm. A particularity about this helm, though, is that it seems to not be like the majority of other standard guard helms. Instead, it is styled like a great helm -- almost like a bucket, in a sense. It provides greater protection than normal -- being thicker and sturdier than a spherical design -- but also hinders mobility and overall utility. A fair trade off, in Julius's mind, especially since danger across Hyrule has been on the rise as of late. Other parts of the armor are similarly fashioned: for instance, his gauntlets are ebony, though trimmed with silver instead of gold.

Raiment: Crafted by Sienna Denzrita, Julius bears a raiment made from the hide of a slain Dodongo and Wolfos, both allowing him to ignore extremes of temperature. Although it is usually hidden beneath his Zora mail, its red colour and rough texture (in addition to other properties) make it more than useful for general wear. On the inside, of course, it's white and has an almost fluffy sensation to it, keeping Julius warm yet cool as the duality of the materials better protects him from harsh blizzards and the sweltering Tantari sun.

The armor itself has a very intimidating appearance to it, to say the least of the fram it's donned upon. It's sculpted in the shape of a predatory beast, much like the hide it's made from, and bears white accents all across it. While offering much in the way of environmental defense, the defense it offers against conventional weaponry -- swords and knives, and so on -- is next to nothing. This is, however, intentional, as it was strictly designed to be worn under a more protective layer of armor -- the very Zora mail that Julius now dons.

Scorching Socks: A similarly new item to repertoire of magical garb, socks now cover his feet. However, they are not simply any socks; they are magical socks, known to some as Scorching Socks. They allow his footsteps to magically ignite the ground beneath his feet, and whenever he wills it, he can also stop the effect, acting as a toggle of sorts. This effect also extends to those whom he kicks, or otherwise makes violent contact with by way of his feet: they are set aflame, though these flames seem no harder to put out than regular flame. In terms of actual appearance, the socks are somewhat long, coming to just below his knee, and appear similar to vivid, dancing fire, wrapping itself around his legs. They keep his feet comfortably warm, even in the coldest environments.

Mirror Shield: A shield constructed by Julius Surgate. Hoping to be his ultimate shield, he is still planning the materials to put into it; most of all, Goron Iron, in addition to Force Gems, Nullrock, and Blessed Bismuth. It's quite weighty, and would certainly hurt to get hit by it.

Backshift Cape: Possessing the unique capability to actually cause a shift backwards of about five feet, his magically enchanted cape hangs off of his back and shoulders, fastened with clips the shape of eagles. It stretches from the height of his back to the joints of his knees. The pattern used for it is not one commonly found in Hyrule; it has the distinctness of a Great Fairy about it, which, when you consider how it was obtained, makes sense. It is a crisp royal blue, with the traditional gold insignia of the Kingdom of Hyrule printed onto its back.

Icebrand: This, once upon a time, was a sword that he had made with his own two hands at around the age of sixteen. It wasn't perfect-- but it was his, and it was something he was proud of for the longest time in his life. It was white, like most things forged of Mirror Silver; but now, it lies changed, forever morphed by none other than The Twister him(it?)self.

Where it was once wrought of his own hands, its capabilities granted from only its base material... Now, The Twister's magic has lain hands upon his blade, its cold, icy palms running over every groove and subtle deformation upon the blade, transforming it into a strange type of ice. While Julius has not been able to identify exactly how the ice itself works, so far he has realized that:
    • It reflects magical projectiles exactly as his sword otherwise would have been able to.
    • Its icy surface can be activated as though his sword had been imbued with Ice Gems, though such a feat is thought to be impossible. This allows him to release a burst of subzero air, which instantly freezes what it might strike. This can only be activated approximately once every other second.
    • Enchants his twisted Summon: Keese spell with ice.
The blade's physical structure, however, has changed little; aside from now being composed of ice, and a bit cold to the touch. Its blade is still as wide as it once had been, its grip feels the same in his hands as it did when he used it the day prior to wagering it to The Twister. Because of this, he hasn't faced much difficulty in adapting to the new properties of his weapon.

Appearance: Julius is a well-aged man, he himself looking no more than forty to many people. His blond (going grey, now, thankfully) hair is somewhat long, appearing often times to be slick with sweat and brushed back out of his face. It doesn't have much of a notable impact on his overall appearance; he is rarely seen without his armor on, after all. Yet another of his defining characteristics, if and when you manage to catch him with his armor (or even simply his helmet) unequipped, would be a large scar trailing across the left side of his face, acquired while confronting a lone Bulbos-riding Bulbin, whose spear he could not entirely deflect with his blade. As a result, his face is now permanently disfigured, an everlasting reminder of his resolve to join the Guard.

His eyes are an absolutely burnished shade of green; appearing bright enough to nearly blind anyone who looked into his eyes. His face is stern, nearly always stuck somewhere in between a half-frown and a near neutral disposition. Most would guess his expression some kind-of grimace, though it's more-or-less caused by the somewhat tense responsibilities that come with being a servant of justice. His face is generally free of any marks or disfigurement, disregarding the aforementioned scar along the left side of his face. His age has begun to show, however, being represented by the omnipresent trio of wrinkles that soon smooth back into his somewhat pale skin.

As previously mentioned, his skin is somewhat pale from a combination of factors, the majority being his presence on the night-shift and how much of his body is enveloped by his cumbersome armor. His frame is tall, thick, and muscular; his muscle and skin more than amply stretching over his bones. Layers of compounded muscle and fat sit beneath his top layer of skin, wriggling and writhing with each of his movements.

What he wears while attempting to keep it casual is his second skin (it appears red on the outside-- despite being white on the inside), with a purple tunic over that. He wears tan pants, as that is the 'norm' in Hyrule.

Personality: To say that Julius is a man of honour… Your assessment would not be incorrect, at first glance. It is very easy to see him as the ever-valourous knight-in-shining-armor (even if his armor may not be gleaming silver any more), but in reality he is more pragmatic and stern. He has fought, valiantly, to defend the citizens of Hyrule by and large from many larger threats, like dragons… or even interdimensional threats, depending on who you ask.

However, just as he works with all kinds of ill-mannered, potentially ill-meaning folk, he works with agents of the crown and whatever covert forces it may (or may not) possess. Notably, this includes people from the near-mythical Shadow Tribes—otherwise known as Sheikah—who would, if put to the knife, testify for his character and general goodwill to those around him and, perhaps especially, to the royal family itself.

So above all else, Julius is a pragmatic individual; he prefers real, working methods as opposed to contrived, overly complex solutions. He is also diligent and patient. His mastery of the blade is proof of this much—were he not truly diligent, or truly patient, he would never have reached the level of proficiency he (and anyone with whom he’s fought with) can attest to. This extends to many of his other pursuits; like his nearly endless thirst for knowledge, amongst other things.

Another facet of his personality is that he’s nearly always searching for more information; enough is, simply put, never enough; especially when it comes to geography, history, or anything relating to general swordplay or weaponsmithing. With this in mind, he is nearly always in some kind of otherwise perilous, forgotten, or otherwise damnable ruin, searching for whatever trinkets or knowledge he could perhaps bring back… either for the good of the whole, or more personal use—though, he’s never killed a man who hadn’t held a blade against him.

To top it all off, he has an almost insatiable love for dogs. This goes as far as reclaiming several hounds from an abandoned ruin atop Snowhead… and proceeding to move to a house that could serve them as well as himself. He never leaves on any excursion, no matter how urgent, if he has no one to keep his pets company. However, he frequently acknowledges that he can’t be with them forever… So he tries to find them homes when he can.

Residence: Julius' home was once quiet and plain, but with some of his most recent adventures coming to a close, it has found liveliness and warmth. Frequently, the pups and their mother can be seen strolling around the yard, playing and napping. Julius himself can now be found there more often as well, as those animals require quite a bit of care.

In addition to the wolves, Julius has begun to expand his repertoire of smith's tools. Now, he is not only capable of maintaining his blade and others like it, but forging many new ones as well.

Pet: As a result of his some of his more recent journeys, Julius has recently acquired a pack of formerly domesticated White Wolfos. The pack consists of a relatively aged mother and her pups.

Backstory: Julius is descended from a line of talented swordsmen, dating all the way back to his great-great-grandfather, Xerxes Surgate, one of the first to embark on an expedition south. He and his lineage eventually settled and stayed in Kakariko, otherwise known as what would eventually become the greatest village in the south. His line had always been excellent at swordplay; Xerxes himself, however, was an extremely well-founded and gifted magician, often incorporating its unique usage and properties into his fighting style which would increase his potency more than ten-fold. The gift of magic has since faded from his bloodline, however their adeptness with a blade has remained.

From a young age, Julius was taught many things, both in valor and swordplay. His father, while not exactly seeing the most combat, was a skilled smith, teaching him the majority of what he knew and remembers of smithing. With these skills, he would craft his very own blade, and proceed to fell dozens upon dozens of enemies with a blade that has lasted more than thirty years.

During the later years of his youth, he would stumble upon Xerxes's journal, describing to an impressionable Julius his own experiences with the Hylian Guard, and what an honorable and valorous force they were. This had quite an obvious effect on Julius, causing him to abandon the meager living in his hometown, and make the long and arduous journey through Death Mountain, and into fresher venues.

However, along the way, his caravan's progress was impeded. A bulblin raid on their cargo had struck dead in the night, injuring many of them, and killing few. The heated scene ended quickly, their goods stolen, and Julius's face adorned with a rather serious injury, that would later become his nearly trademarked scar. He would arrive to Hyrule Castle-Town within another short week, the majority of his face still wrapped with blood-soaked bandages.

This would do little to impede his determination, however, as he almost immediately sought out recruitment within the Castle Guard. He was turned away upon the examination of his wounds, the officers telling him to give them more time to heal, before doing something as strenuous as joining a military force. Turned away, Julius instead turned his skills to his own use: he was soon temporarily employed by a blacksmithing stall in what was the Merchant's Quarters, before it was renovated to harbor Goron refugees from Ganon's vicious assault. Within a month, his injuries were healed, leaving a rather intimidating scar trailing across his face. He reapplied, this time being accepted with no qualms, and soon his training was complete. During his time in training, he had learned about a variety of landmark documents; namely the Stonepact. It had a huge effect on both Hylian and Goron culture alike; it had bound both races together, naming them brothers in and out of arms.

He rose through the ranks at a moderate pace, eventually settling at his current rank, which he has held for close to ten years at this point. He was recognized for various knightly duties he had performed, and awarded appropriately, eventually earning both his armor and helmet through two separate ceremonies. His shield is practically new; only having received it, at most, two years ago, acting as another badge of sorts, received for yet another knightly deed. Currently, tensions between both Hylian and Goron alike have been rising; going so far as to cause riots among the streets, Julius and his peers doing their best to keep the peace between the groups, acting both as barriers and non-violent emissaries. This was capstoned by the emergence of a new Goron patriarch; who had proposed to the king a second Stonepact, promising him and his Goron brethren the newly unveiled lands of Snowhead, and once again binding Gorons and Hylians alike. This treaty, however, means little to Julius himself; the first Stonepact still being safeguarded against the rampant memory loss within his brain, knowing the entire document line-for-line. As far as Julius concerns himself with the new treaty, it may as well be a simple deed of ownership for Snowhead, as he himself still considers the Gorons his brethren.

    He remembers the Stonepact.

Julius's sheet has been updated due to the Crafting Overhaul and Library Revamp.

This has converted his prior rank of the Crafting treasure into three levels of the Blacksmith trade; additionally, he has gained Hero's Legacy as his third character trait. However, though Mirror Silver has gotten a price increase of five rupees, he will retain his blade, since at his creation an ingot had cost only twenty rupees.

Julius braved the perils of the City in the Sky, with Guy Denzrita, Gustav Grimm, and Wikitoria Levitt.

This adventure granted him forty rupees to be allocated later. Thread.

Another fortuitous and nightmare inducing run-in with the Holiday Moblin. Acquiring a sum of rupees from the generosity of the mysterious creature, he puts it in with the rest of his earnings. Oddly enough, it was all green rupees -- like using pennies to pay for a dollar's worth of things. (Post.)

Julius has travelled into the Arbiter's Grounds. With the aid of Guy Denzrita, and a fortuitous encounter with Alice the travelling witch, he leaves the grounds with a Lens of Truth, and 31 rupees to allocate later.

An encounter with The Twister once again brings terror. At the cost of seven rupees, and his fairy companion, Lexi, he gains the ability to, at the snap of his fingers, trigger a portal to open five seconds later. From this portal shoots forth, within an instant, all of a three-foot long helix blade, wielded by Lexi. The blade stabs in a direction decided when he activates the trigger, and this ability otherwise replaces his regular Fairy Companion treasure.

An unfortunate run-in with a psychotic Deku Scrub, known to Julius as Sienna, brings grief, suffering, and despair to all involved.

As a result of completing Goron Mines, Julius has gained one (1) Dodongo Hide, converting the remainder of his reward to rupees for use at a later date. This earns him twenty rupees, in addition to the six he receives from his craft.

Once again, Julius puts himself at odds. This time, he finds himself in a deserted manor atop the Snowhead Mountains. Bringing Navina, a fellow Hylian Guard, along with him, they face the challenges of the cold and discover a mysterious Yeti by the name of Yettez brewing stew.

After their adventure was complete, with a fine dish of stew and some moral arguing, they leave the delapidated palace. In tow with them are a number of White Wolfos cubs, as well as their mother; in addition, Julius displays his mastery of Helm Splitter, and thanks to the native fauna, departs with a White Hide. After a somewhat spooky nightmare, shared with Navina and Spaghet, Julius awakens. It seems he is now getting paid more, for whatever reason.

    (Gain Profession: Guardsman (Lv. 7), 41r (35 + 6)).

After exploring an ancient zenith of Hylian architecture and design, delivering a rather impressive blade to the psychopathic Sienna Denzrita, and killing some kind of prehistoric Gohma, Julies leaves the Temple of Time with 41 Rupees to be distributed later, and a relic from an age gone by. Historical! (He gets a hookshot, and some of the whatever the hell from City in the Sky.)

Julius had an encounter with a strange Goron merchant, shortly after drinking himself under the table, no doubt after one of his many exploits. He only remembers about half of the encounter itself, but generally seems more aware of his direction, now.

((Julius gains 19r from voting during July, and spends them (plus another two) in the July Curiosity Shop, to gain the Navigation trait.))

Julius gains two levels in Profession after completing the Desert Colossus with a certain Bokoblin lawyer, who seemed in a bit of a hurry to get out of there...

(Julius spends 40r from his Dungeon Completion reward on Profession Lv. 8, and then another 45r from his pocket to gain Profession Lv. 9, but he immediately earns 45r back, so there's not really a loss of roop here.)

(HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I completely forgot to mention his crafting rupees -- this nets him 51r, total, from his exploits in the Desert Colossus.)

Julius completed the Fire Temple a while ago and I've completely put off updating his sheet.

He basically just maxes his Profession level, which means he gets a shit ton of roop now and I can start getting craft levels or something idk. But, since he didn't lose any roop, there's a net gain of 40r this thread, which puts him at like 120-something.

Julius completes Ice Cavern with Evelyn, gaining levels 4, 5, and 6 in Weaponsmithing, spending 100r right out of his pocket, and then gaining back 62r, leaving him with a total of 70r. He also gains some kind of mystery metal, to be revealed later. (I will probably forget about this.)

Lots of shit happens. He twists his Summon: Keese treasure, and then weird time fuckery or something happens and he ends up crafting Fairy Blue some how, even though he's pretty sure that he's never crafted a sword like it or something, but regardless, he spent 13r to twist his treasure, and then gained 14r from crafting Fairy Blue.

So basically his Summon: Keese treasure is different, and he gains a :roop:.

Julius completes two (Turtle Rock) threads (Starsend) and gains a lot.

    From Starsend, he gains:
    • Splinter Crystal
    • Three Light Gems
    • Vile Coating
    • Nullrock
...for use in Sienna's new wakizashi, and 56r.

    From Turtle Rock, he gains:
    • Lv.7 Weaponsmith
    ...and 44r.
