As most Twili, Fion has a slender build, though his maltreatment at the hands of circus that captured him has left him skinnier than he used to be. Amongst other of his kind, he does not stand out. To Hylians, however, his fiery red hair might be the only normal thing about the Twili. His greyish skin, with an odd pattern of shadows swirling across and covering most of his back, his left arm, left leg and half of his face, along with large, pupil-less yellow eyes makes him look truly alien amongst the inhabitants of the Realm of Light. This is one of the main reasons Fion found himself captured and displayed as a circus sideshow.

Another feature that adds even more to his alien looks is his small, flat nose, which seems to arch directly into his eyebrows.

Fion's clothing is simple and rather typical for his race in terms of style. He is dressed in a short black jacket with immensely long sleeves, the ends of which reaching past his knees, even without the trim of tassles sewn on at the hems. Along with that he wears a short black wrap-skirt, often stashing items in the waistband for temporary storage. Strange glowing lines are seemingly integrated into the fabric of Fion's clothing, mimicking the lines that are also often found in a Twili's skin. Fion himself, however, lacks the lines on his skin.

The only accessory, or piece of jewellery the Twili wears is a plain, banded gold neckpiece, covering his neck from shoulder to jaw.

    Personality:
Being young and relatively inexperienced in the ways of the world, Fion is quite naive. The few, and mostly bad experiences he's had with Hylians have him him wary of them, and strangers in general. He is timid towards others, though easily trusting of people who show him kindness, desperate for any kind of contact. Along with being timid, the Twili is also quite jumpy, and easily startled. He will often hide in shadows or use magic to keep others at bay when he feels threathened. Although he appears quite childish at times, it is a mistake to call the Twili meek. While easily intimidated, Fion has learned to stand his ground when pushed too far, and possesses a certain stubborness when it comes pursuing his goals.

Fion has zero knowledge about Hyrule or its inhabitants, and is constantly awed by everything he sees. Although heartbroken from the loss of his home, the Twili is curious about this strange new world he found himself in, eager to learn more. The fact he does not speak any known language, however, is a constant source of despair for Fion, not being able to communicate with others as clearly as he would like. He has started to pick up stray words, and even a few short sentences, but otherwise his means of communicating mainly consists of gestures and sounds.

Lastly, being a Twili and a creature of shadows, used to the eternal twilight of his home realm, Fion strongly dislikes bright lights. He avoids daylight whenever possible, being active at night and seeking out the shadows or darker places during the day, where he feels much more at ease. His sensitive eyes are used to seeing in the dark of the Twilight Realm, and have trouble seeing clearly in broad daylight.

    Backstory:
There is not much to say about Fion's early life, and not just because he has no means of communicating it to anyone. His youth was uneventful, growing up in peace amongst his kind in the Twilight Realm, training to become a spellcaster. But the peace would not last. One day, Fion was unexpectedly transported to another realm, possibly due to a corrupted spell.

The details of his sudden displacement are still vague to the Twili. All he remembers is a bright light, and waking up in an unknown forest, where he was found by a group of people. Hylians, he later discovered, and members of a circus troupe. They saw the young Twili as the perfect addition to their sideshows, as Fion's kind were a rare, if not unseen sight in Hyrule- most people had never seen or heard of a Twili before. Fion, not comprehending the speech of these strange beings and desperate to return home, willingly went with the troupe, assuming they would help him find his way back.

To his horror, that was the exact opposite of what they did.

The Twili was locked in a cage, showed off to the public as a freak of nature, treated no better than the animals kept at the circus. At first Fion clung to the hope they would somehow bring him home, that the cage was just to make sure he would not disappear again, hoping that someone amongst the sea of staring faces would reach out and help him. But he was never able to ask, as he found them all speaking in languages he did not understand, not did anyone understand the Twili's own tongue.

Eventually, his hope faltered, and Fion tried to escape. He made many attempts, but freedom was always fleeting, as the circus troupe effortlessly recaptured him every time, adding another lock to his cage after each failed attempt. The members of the troupe terrified the young Twili. There was the ringmaster, a stern man with the same sharp pointed ears as Fion had, though he had a strange pale skin and piercing blue eyes. Then there was his wife, of the same race, with golden hair and a charming smile to whoever visited the circus, but turned cruel when dealing with the circus' many inhabitants. Other performers were an odd, rock-like creature that could lift immense weights and crush boulders with his bare hands, a dark-skinned, red-haired woman that could throw knives with deadly precision at her equally dark-skinned and tall partner, two small furry being with plants growing from their backs that tumbled, leapt and juggled around the ring, and a group of mixed creatures responsible for the music. Along with Fion's own cage, there were many more, though he never got the chance to investigate them. The strangest sounds coming from them, wails, growls and screeches were not inviting to do so, either, instead only making the Twili scared of their sources.

After so many failed escape attempts, Fion gave up and simply accepted his fate, sinking into despair. No one was going to help him, certainly not anyone working in the circus, and he was unable to ask anyone else. Although he had started to pick up a few stray words from the pale race, whom he had heard being referred to as 'Hylians'.

Somewhere, deep inside, there is still a faint glimmer of hope that one day, Fion might be able to escape and return home.

    Roleplaying History:
    The Holiday Moblin (2013):
During a bitterly cold winter night, Fion witnessed the legendary Holiday Moblin flying by. But, being a stranger to Hyrule and its customs, the Twili was not aware of the jolly monster's identity. He does, however, assume it's a very cheery creature, but not very careful with its possessions.

Shadows in the Circus: Fion's hope of freedom became a reality, as the Great Fairy Arifa stumbled across him in the circus and took pity on the Twili. Together, they hatched a plan to free Fion, fighting hard against the circus troupe that tried to stop them. After releasing a certain striped beast from its cage, they succeeded, feeling to the nearby woods. Although Fion did not realise what kind of creature Arifa was, only that her magic is a polar opposite to his own, he does know that he is forever grateful to her.

The Plane of Shadows: Under the assumption it was a way home, Fion ventured into the Moonshadow Fragment, but was bitterly disappointed when it turned out to be a dangerous pocket dimension. Here, he met the Zora Triton, along with a small group of soldiers and researchers. Together they traveled to the core of the treacherous plane, putting an end to the darkness. While Fion might not have found a way home, he did recover part of himself he thought lost, increasing his profiency with shadow magic.

The Holiday Moblin (2018): While hiding from a fierce blizzard for the night, Fion wrote his letter to the infamous Holiday Moblin, having learned more about the mysterious creature from Triton. While his list was short, only a single word, the Moblin graciously bestowed him with not one, but two gifts.

The Holiday Moblin (2022): Nothing seems out of reach for the obese bringer of jolliness and alcohol vapours, for even while lost amid the sands, Fion found a gift clearly intended for him. How exactly it got there is something better left to legend, however.

For logistics reasons, I am posting a link to where the racial license was purchased, in the marketplace. (http://forums.hyrulecastle.org/index.php?threads/a-dark-encounter-solo.2264/) For logistics reasons, please link to this thread somewhere in future Twili characters (And do so for other License requiring races, too, please). That will make grading these in the future far easier.

    Yup. Everything checks out. Passed.
