Triton, the Knowledge-hungry Scholar of Magic
    Character Information
    Age:
    31.
    Gender: Male.
    Race: Zora.
    Place of Origin: Zora’s Domain.
    PWC: 1/5/3
    Class: Mage.
    Alignment: Lawful Good.

    Spells and Abilities
    Racials
    - Amphibious: Born a Zora, Triton has learned at a very early age how to breathe underwater using a race-specific breathing apparatus. However, he can breathe just as easily on land, using his lungs.
    - Fire Weakness: Like other Sea Zoras, Triton is vulnerable to fire and extreme heat, which melts through his scales with greater ease than anything else.
    - Magic Proficiency: Like many if not most other Sea Zora, Triton is gifted with great magical talent and has chosen to hone this.

    Offensive Spells
    - Fire: Unusual among Sea Zora, Triton has the innate power to conjure up a small fireball. His skill in magic allows him to expel it from his cane, his hand, or his mouth, although he very rarely if ever uses the last.
    - Aqua Grenade: A more complex and physical projectile than the entirely magic-based Fire spell, Aqua Grenade provides Triton with a water-based projectile.
    - Electric Aura: Another power inherent to the Zora race is Triton's ability to conjure up a shield of electricity around him. Because of how powerful it is, he uses this both defensively and offensively.
    - Blizzard: While he fears the cold, Triton can subdue that fear for long enough to create a gust of freezing wind from the palm of his hand. It is strong enough to freeze anything that stands too close, but its range is poor.

    Supportive Spells
    - Nayru's Affection: Swinging either his cane or his hand in front of him, Triton conjures up a translucent, blue shield that dissipates quickly- however, for as long as it exists it can reflect a single projectile of any nature.
    - Rejuvenation: Using the glass he always carries on him, Triton converts part of his mana into a clear, colorless liquid similar to water, but with averagely powerful healing capabilities. Has a very long cooldown period.

    Utility Spells
    - Spark: A very simple spell, especially for Triton's standards. The Zora can conjure up a small flame above his fingertip to provide him a little light and warmth.
    - Familiar: A more complicated spell that allows Triton to conjure up a spectral cat with a bushy tail and talons for paws. It serves as an extension of his senses and he can communicate through it.

    Other
    - Magic Power 1

    Inventory
    Weapons
    - Cane: A staff of about five feet and six inches of height, forged from baby blue coral. Triton uses it to channel his magic power, and very occasionally as a bludgeon or lever.

    Healing Items
    - Red Potions (x3): Ever prepared for the worst, Triton carries on him several vials of a clear, red liquid with incredibly powerful healing capabilities.

    Miscellaneous
    - Siblings' Stone: A Pirate's Charm given to Triton by his parents when he was little more than a Tadzora. It allows him to stay in close contact with his twin sister, who carries an identical stone.
    - Book of Mudora: A rare tome that is the reason Triton speaks as many languages as he does. It contains some arcane knowledge, but Triton mostly uses it to translate written texts.
    - Dowsing Rod: A cherry red branch from the Great Deku Tree. If Triton clutches it while focusing on something he wants to find, it will pull him towards it.

    Roleplaying Information
    Residence

Triton makes his home in one of the many caverns of Zora’s Domain. His home is where he stores most of his magical knowledge- on one wall, a couple of bookcases reach about seven feet up and are stacked with books. Against the wall opposite the bookcases stands Triton’s writing desk, with his bed next to it.

    Acquaintances
    - Thria (NPC): Triton's dear twin sister, younger by a split second. A happily married, short-tempered guard of Jabu-Jabu who outfights her male peers with ease.
    - Kasuul (NPC): A guard of Jabu-Jabu and Triton's brother-in-law. They get along with each other, and Triton owes his cane to an acquaintance of Kasuul's who knows how to work coral.
    - Séline (NPC): Triton's niece, who shows the same martial potential as her parents do.

Despite being rather tall for his kind, Triton appears as your everyday male Lake Zora. He boasts silver-white skin, with spots resembling fish scales in the places where Hylians would develop callouses. It seems to be covered in a water-resistant film, similar to fish and other sea creatures. The back of his head extends into a dolphin tail-like shape in place of hair, and he has rather large fins on his lower arms as well as smaller ones on his calves and hips. All over Triton’s body appear ocassional sea green spots, although they are more frequent on his tail and fins. His ‘pattern’ is identical to that of his sister Thria.

Triton is by no means a toughly built or impressive man to see. He is tall and slender, his body retaining enough fat to appear healthy but not enough muscles to be intimidating. It is plain to see that the Zora will lose a physical battle with most enemies. He has a very peaceful and calm air about him, though, so it can be hard to picture him in battle.

When venturing out of the water, Triton dresses himself in a dark purple wizard’s robe with wide sleeves, ending where his forefins start. It comes with a blue cape, which helps to keep him warm. The scholar is never seen without the Siblings’ Stone around his neck, and rarely without the cane in his hand or the waterproof bag in which he carries his possessions.

    Personality:
There are several words to describe Triton, depending on who you ask. While many people would describe him as a very peaceful and serene man, his own twin sister calls him hungry for knowledge and on the cowardly side.

Triton has an extremely mild temper, rarely letting anything provoke him into violence or anger. He appears to avoid conflict at all reasonable costs, partially because he has no love for violence verbal nor physical and partially because he is well aware of the limits of his body, which would never allow him to win a physical battle. Few are able to match him in a battle of wits, however, as Triton is undeniably a genius. The scholar’s chosen field is magic, but unlike some other practitioners of the art he has not further narrowed this down. Triton will happily consume knowledge of any spell or magic in existence.

This hunger for knowledge threatens him, however. He has the terrible habit of forgoing food or sleep for the sake of longer studying his current subject, which has led to illness in the past. Once immersed in research, it is all Triton can think of. He is capable of quickly analyzing his environment, and can pick up faint traces of magic usage in his direct vicinity, but is not very knowledgable on monsters or anything other than magic.

Despite his hatred of conflict, Triton has mastered spells the primary use of which undeniably lies within combat. This is because the sorcerer is peaceful but not ignorant of the danger that comes from within Death Mountain. While unwilling to use any sort of force against his fellow man, Triton is merciless towards Ganon’s minions and his magical capabilities make him a foe to be reckoned with.

    Story
    Backstory:
Triton is one half of a set of twins. He and his sister Thria grew up in the relative safety of Zora’s domain, not expecting their life to ever contain anything but peace and quiet, probably a marriage and children of their own, but never anything remotely like war or combat. His Siblings’ Stone is a remnant of this happy, harmless time, given to him by his mother. His sister carries an identical stone.

Things changed when word of Ganon’s claiming Goron City reached Zora’s Domain.

The twins knew better than to rush out of Lake Hylia and join the forming Ganon Trashing Army –not in the last place because it didn’t exist-, but at their age, they also knew better than to idly sit around and wait until disaster struck their home. Thria, despite her marriage and waiting for her first egg, joined her husband amongst the guards of Jabu-Jabu, or at least in training.

Triton was never anywhere near as physically capable or powerful as his sister was, though, and took a different course of action. Even as a child, he had been very interested in magic, not in the last place because of his kin’s inherent ability to cast a small-scale fire spell. Over the years, with help from friends, family, and foreigners, he had amassed quite an impressive collection of books on magic, be they about spells, magic items, or ancient wizards.

Starting with these books, Triton further developed his natural gift for magic, taught himself a variety of spells in order to be prepared for battle if it came to him. Testing his spells in practice by friendly sparring with his sister, he familiarized himself with most of them and honed his battle reflexes in the process.

A few years after starting this training, Triton’s brother-in-law made him an appropriate sorcerer’s cane out of coral, a material rather abundantly found but not easily worked with. With said cane, Triton didn’t have to use his own body as a catalyst for all his spells anymore, relieving him of a lot of strain.

While Triton still spends a lot of time at home, researching ancient and less ancient magic, he spends an equal or greater amount of time outside of Lake Hylia, looking for new books, knowledge that isn’t written down, or spells he can learn by means not related to books. It is on one of these travels that he acquired his Book of Mudora, which he found in possession of an old lady unaware of its value and he could purchase from her for a crazily cheap price.

Knowing of the danger that lurks in Southern Hyrule, Triton has yet to visit it. However, he has explored most, but not all, of Northern Hyrule and knows his way around the settlements and plains close to Lake Hylia. However, he doesn’t claim to be a living map of the North, especially when it comes to the places further from the lake.
