    Companions:
    - Rover (Battle Companion): A large male Rottweiler dog. An agreeable beast in daily interaction, which Sirius can confidently bring to his classes. However, Rover is bred and trained for pure strength and endurance, and can reliably outfight enemies up to his own size under normal conditions.
    Acquaintances:
    - Silas Longfellow: Sirius’s elder brother, but not more mature. Silas knows the only surefire ways to get under Sirius’s skin… and consistently does it.

    Appearance:
It’s hard to say whether Sirius attempts to catch eye or to avoid it. He has an unusual appearance compared to the Hylians that he mingles with, towering above most of them. His build is toned, betraying his athleticism and his experience in combat-related matters. His white hair is short and neatly combed. As customary for his kin, he has deep red eyes and pointed ears. Having passed his race's rites of adulthood, Sirius bears silver rings in both his ears. His image as a strict man is maintained by his usually calm, sometimes bored and often politely amused expression. Additionally, Sirius always carries himself with dignity, even in the midst of battle.

In front of the class, and when in his office, Sirius wears a long-sleeved, cream robe reaching all the way to the ground, similar to a mage’s robe. He also wears a red sash around his waist with a black Sheikah eye symbol on it, fastened tightly to keep the robe in place. Both serve to hide his toned physique. On occasion, he will don a black mantle over it, but that’s only necessary when it’s particularly cold out.

In battle, Sirius is suddenly the very image of the Sheikah race. He dresses in lightweight armour and a slim-fitting red combat uniform, with the eye symbol of the Sheikah in black on the chest of his armour. Sirius’ shortsword is sheathed on the back of his waist, and his shortbow hangs from his back. He moves with a certain fluidity to his motions, casting his spells with sharp, calculated motions and chants and his shortsword striking with surgical precision.

    Personality:
As a teacher, Sirius makes the same impression on both students and parents: that of a very strict, but just man, with a near-infinite amount of patience. He comes across as cold, and is in fact not a warm person by nature: He is calm and calculating, making decisions based on rationality rather than emotion. In fact, the only times he shows warmth and emotion is in some of his dealings with Rover and when returning straight A’s to students.

Sirius values potential over results, a philosophy based in his own situation. It is for this reason that he treats all his students equally and doesn’t hold grudges. He demands respect, but shows it towards everyone else as well, with one exception. His loyalty to the Royal Family is still unwavering, despite his new position and his… ungraceful discharge from his more traditional duties.

The one exception to most of Sirius’ policies is his elder brother, Silas. Silas consistently gets under his skin and provokes powerful emotional responses from him, ranging from exasperation to rage.

When it comes to actual fighting, Sirius’ power is limited because of his leg injury. He can fight full force for a number of minutes, but inevitably slows down afterwards, to his own frustration. However, Sirius’ cunning and magical prowess make him a very tactical warrior, and by timing Rover’s orders properly he can hide his pain. His inability to fight as well as he used to tends to bother him, but on the other hand, not having to kill anymore is an enormous relief to the by nature peaceful Sheikah.

    Backstory:
Along with his brother Silas, Sirius was raised from an early age to carry out covert operations for the Royal Family of Hyrule; assassinations, information gathering, preventing the same things from happening to the Royal Family. However, seeing his elder brother’s unwillingness to kill instilled a similar unwillingness in Sirius, without his knowledge. While physically, he took to his combat training quickly, this made it hard to accept what it was for.

It was inevitable that something would go wrong, but no one could anticipate just how soon. On their first assassination, Sirius’ life would be steered in a completely different direction. Just as he was about to shoot his target, Silas’ hand wavered, a hesitance born from his unwillingness to kill. He missed. To make matters worse, their target had a hound. A very big hound, alerted to the would-have-been assassins by the arrow.

Sirius managed to get away with Silas's help, but his leg never functioned normally again after the beast attacked him. He had to quit his work for the Royal Family, but where Farore shuts a door, Nayru tends to open a window. Sirius had discovered at an early age that he had a gift for magic, uncommon amongst his race. He had been using this magic during many of his missions with his brother, and through their contacts, he heard that the Academy of the Sages was in the process of recruiting a teacher in the subject of Battle Magic. Sirius applied, and was accepted into the position after a lengthy application process.

Shortly after starting to teach, however, Silas had a little unwelcome surprise for his little brother. Visiting Sirius in his office, the elder showed him a young Rottweiler dog with a large blue ribbon around its neck. It couldn’t have been older than three months, and was of the same breed that had handicapped Sirius. Initially, the younger wanted nothing to do with the beast, but Silas insisted. He said that if his brother didn’t get over what had happened now, he would develop a phobia of dogs that would cripple him for life. And besides, now that he couldn’t go on missions with his relatives anymore, surely he needed some company? And most of all, wasn’t it just adorable at this age?

With a deep sigh of resignation, Sirius ended up accepting the pup, taking off that ridiculous ribbon before naming it Rover. Much like the hound that had attacked him, Rover has undergone combat training and guard training in the past years and is never far away from his master now.

Today, Sirius has mostly recovered from his ordeal five years ago. He can fight, although not for long stretches of time, and often uses assaults from Rover to cover up his exhaustion and pain. He is now a respected teacher and Battle Mage, and considers his job to be part of training Hyrule’s future heroes.

    Classes:
Sirius teaches Battle Magic at Hyrule Castle Town’s Academy of Sages. His is a full-year course taught to second-years, with three periods a week: One theory class and two hours of bringing that theory into practice. Sirius is a just, but strict teacher, who places a very heavy emphasis on his students being prepared. Anyone who forgets his or her textbook for the theory class is banned from the practice classes, which he holds against their attendance. The same goes for students who are more than five minutes late for theory.
