    Judith Vilcaron & Idris Johansson

    Fusing: Green Crown Kinstone

    ---

"...No. This won't do. ...Hm. Not that one either..." Fingers slid over leather-clad spines, scanning tome after dusty tome. Idris mumbled to himself, reading out the titles. Crisp morning sun seeped through the windows, bathing the small room in its light.

Idris was far from a man of faith, and yet he had found himself walking through the doors of one of Castle Town's more prominent temples, headquarters of... Well, a cult is a cult, he supposed. But that didn't mean they didn't have their uses. Being dedicated to the goddess of wisdom, the Cult of Nayru had a rather sizeable collection of rare tomes, magical and otherwise. And it was these magical tomes that had drawn Idris' interest.

A deep sigh escaped his lips. So far the tomes had been less impressive than he had hoped.

Judith Vilcaron was always happy to see members of the public within the walls of the Cult of Nayru's grand cathedral in Castle-Town. Even if they only intended to escape the sun or peruse the temple's archives to satisfy some idle curiosity, the mere idea that her order could provide both shelter and knowledge in abundance was a badge of pride for the Cult.

... And yet, something about the latest newcomer had set her ill at ease. Having been assigned to monitor him to ensure he did not abscond with any of their books, Judith had surreptitiously watched him while reorganizing the tomes left in his wake, her eyes trained on him even as her hands carried out the motions. Whatever the object of his search, it was clear that the guest's efforts were proving fruitless, if the muttering and sighing were anything to go by. She hoped he wasn't looking to acquire anything from the Cult's private library... Such transactions were typically handled by a higher authority than her, often involving extensive background checks and the payment of sizable tithes.

Still, she supposed it was a poor priestess of Nayru that let those in search of lore wander aimlessly. It was her divine duty to assist him, no matter her misgivings. Mustering the courage to approach the man, Judith came up behind him and coughed politely to get his attention.

"U-Um... I-Is there anything I can help you with, sir? A-Are you looking for something in particular?"

Idris finished inspecting another shelf of books before he glanced at the priestess at his side.

“...Hm, perhaps.” He looked back at the books, then back at her. “I’m looking for spells. Interesting spells, you know. Not the scrolls you find in every library or at every market. I was told you had them here.” Idris stared at the books for a moment.

    “Is this all you have?”

Judith blinked in response to the man's seeming disinterest. What manner of knowledge did he seek to so flagrantly dismiss the library's more readily accessible texts? She wrung her hands as she considered her reply.

"N-No. We have additional archives that can be made available upon request... F-For a modest donation, of course." Feeling rather like an unscrupulous merchant, Judith avoided eye contact as she made the offer she had been instructed to make should any visitor be dissatisfied with the tomes on display. Were it up to her, she might have ordered a review of those private collections, to abolish such secrecy and promote truth in Nayru's name. But some things were meant to be kept from the general populace, she supposed. Who was she to question the Wisdom of her superiors?

Just then, she felt a strange sensation against her hip- one of her side pouches was... vibrating? Her eyes widened as she realized it was the one containing her Kinstone. She had searched in vain for its twin for some time now, to no avail. Why was it reacting now?

"Ah, excuse me...!" She mumbled, fiddling with her satchel in the hopes of getting to the bottom of this new mystery.
