    “Come on! We’re nearly there!”

The tranquil silence of nature was rudely disturbed by two pair of feet running through the underbrush, kicking up sand where the plant growth was less dense. Slowly, the vegetation grew less thick, showing bigger and bigger patches of pristine white sand.

    “I can hear it!”

Silas burst from the forest and dashed across the sand, a rather garish floral shirt he wore over his suit flapping after him, parasol slung over his shoulder.

The beach was, well, quite literally one from a picturebook. Or at least one of those cheap-looking pamflets found around town advertising overpriced trips for bored nobles. Underneath an eye-searingly blue sky, tall palm trees dotted the white sands, their shadow a mercy under the bright sun. Save for a few crabs scuttling about, the beach was devoid of life, the gentle lull of the azure waves and a pair of seagulls screaming overhead the only sound. It was, quite simply, perfect.

After his latest series of missions, the last of which had very nearly become his last mission, Silas’ masters had found it acceptable to grant the man some reprieve. A holiday. And the Sheikah needed very little time to think how and where he would spend it. And with whom.

    “Hurry, brother! Tempo!

Sirius walked onto the beach much more slowly than his elder brother, having stopped at the top of a dune to take a deep whiff of the salty sea air. How long had it been since he'd taken a day to himself? The sea air brought back unpleasant memories of battles fought beneath the surface- but the Sheikah pushed them away, reminding himself that had been a different part of the ocean, and he had the day off. Headmaster Clearwater had been more than clear in his instructions; go to the damn beach and relax for once in his life. Impa and the strange creature that had inhabited it weren't going anywhere, so this was more important right now.

He was woken from his reverie when the large, black-and-tan dog next to him barked, before barrelling down the dune in a display of the raw strength it had in its body -it had to, to run that quickly in soft sand- and a complete and utter lack of elegance. Sirius smiled as he watched it arrive at Silas's heels, ears flapping every time it leapt up or landed and tongue lolling out of its mouth. To look at Rover now, there was nothing indicating his new, incredibly disturbing abilities. He felt the strange yellow collar burning in the tote bag he'd slung over his shoulder. He couldn't say why... but he had felt it prudent to pack it.

Perhaps Rover could use his ability to hide in the shadows to avoid heatstroke, he thought, finally walking down the dune after his hound and brother. "Ik ben er al, ik ben er al," he said, the Ancient Hylian dialect rolling off his tongue in a string of strung-together words that would be impossible for non-native speakers to decipher. "Zet de parasol nou maar op." He reached into his bag, himself, getting out a pair of towels. As he bent down to put them on the sand, he patted Rover on the head and made a motion towards the sea. "Go on boy," he said.

Rover didn't need to be told twice. For the second time in less than five minutes, the hound barrelled away, this time landing chest-first in the waters of Great Bay.
