Fire in a bottle. Who'd have thought.

While part of him still marveled at the idea, Lamont frowned as he looked at the papers again. Why, exactly, did they have to light the brazier? Would it lead to treasure? He certainly hoped so. He wasn't sure what else it would do.

"C'mon Sandal, let's go. Let's see what that brazier does, huh?" He patted the Moblin on the arm and started on the way down again, whistling to himself.

As they made their way back to the dome-like chamber, they would notice how eerily quiet the cave had become. And how much colder. Lamont pulled his clothes tighter around himself. The cold had been uncomfortable before, but now it was heading towards painful. The sooner he was able to cuddle up next to a big fire, the better. Ooh, perhaps he could even get a blanket somewhere. Now that was a pleasant thought.

When they reached the first chamber, Lamont sneezed.

"'scuse me..." He could not supress a violent shiver. His fingers really were starting to go blue and, judging by the numbness, so were his lips. Sandal's fur was looking temptingly cosy... Lamont wished he had a nice thick furry hide to keep him warm. He shook his head, the cold was not doing his brain any favours. Focus on the brazier. Light it, get the treasure, go home, warm up. That was the plan.

The plan that fell apart as Lamont looked up at the sharp, jagged rocks on which the brazier perched. There was no way he would be able to climb up there. Not that he was a bad climber, but there were simply no footholds on the rock, save for the top. Even Sandal was going to have trouble reaching up there...

Sandal was so happy that they were so close to finally getting the treasure that was going to help him get even more armor. He was lost in thought on the way back to the start of the cave trying to figure out just what type of armor he was going to buy. Oh! What if the treasure was armor! That would be even better! He would be able to start on it immediately. Well immediately after getting somewhere warmer.

Once the two of them had gotten back into the first chamber Sandal would remove the bottle of Blue Fire from his adventure pouch and reached up to try and light the brazier, but just couldn't quite reach. Looking around the room for something, anything to stand on his eyes would come to rest on Lamont. It seemed that was the only choice. Slowly the Moblin would walk over towards Lamont. "Need up." Was Sandal wanting to stand on Lamont's shoulders!? There was a good chance that would horribly injure Lamont.

Holding out the bottle of blue fire to Lamont, Sandal would wait for Lamont to take the bottle from him before moving around behind him and crouching down. "Go up!" He wasn't even sure if Lamont knew what he had planned, but he was about to find out as Sandals head popped out between his legs and quickly lifted up. Sandal planned on lifting Lamont up on his shoulders so that he could reach the brazier to light it. There wasn't anything else in the room they could use to get the height needed and there was no way that Lamont would have been able to lift Sandal after all.

    "Woah! Easy!"

Lamont had not expected Sandal to lift him up. Clutching the bottle tightly to his chest, he waited until he regained his balance. Slowly, he pushed himself up on one foot, one hand holding the bottle tightly and the other holding onto Sandal's helmet. His legs were shaking as Lamont stood on the tips of his toes, even now straining to reach the brazier. The cork parted from the bottle with a loud 'pop', echoing through the cave. The flames slid out, settling on the ice in the brazier, immediately blazing up in a freezing bonfire.

As the first howl echoed through the cavern, the ice suddenly lit up. To Lamont's horror, it moved. The ice crept up, along the walls, the floor, even over the entrance... At the second howl the ice grew even more, creaking as it went along.

Whatever they had summoned, it had sealed them inside.

As the howl echoed out around him Sandal began to look around quickly trying to locate where it came from. Not only was his looking around pointless, he did it so fast and wildly that it had thrown Lamont off balance on his shoulders causing him to come crashing down. Not wanting to let him fall Sandal tried to catch him which caused him to fall as well. The two of them would both be lying on the ground, luckily Lamont had ended up landing on top of Sandal and not the other way around. With a groan Sandal would slide out from under Lamont and stand back up.

Looking around to find see if a new path had opened up Sandal would finally spot what had let out the howl. A large White Wolfos was staring them down. This clearly wasn't some normal Wolfos, heck it wasn't even a normal White Wolfos. No there was something different about this beast, Sandal could just feel it. Maybe it was his just his basic instincts that all Moblins had.

Lamont slammed his head against Sandal's helmet when they fell. For a moment, his vision swam. The Hylian groaned.

"Warn me next time you're going to throw me..." He muttered. "...Sandal? What's wrong?"

When he noticed the Wolfos, he scrabbled to his feet, trying to ignore the pounding in his head. It was way bigger than the Wolfos he had seen so far, almost bigger than a man. Lamont staggered backwards, fumbling with the sword on his hip. He dropped it, fingers numb with cold and fear. The Wolfos did not waste a second to use this opporturnity. It leapt forward, throwing the unfortunate Hylian to the ground and pinning him there.

Lamont blinked away tears. From pain? Fear? The cold? He wasn't quite sure what was happening anymore, only that he was very likely going to die. And very likely very soon. The Wolfos roared in his face, strings of saliva splattering on his cheek. Its teeth were huge. And sharp. The last thing Lamont did was close his eyes and hope that whoever judged him after life would not be harsh. He had tried to do the right thing. That had to count for something.

The Wolfos had acted before Sandal had even had time to grab hold of his club. Luckily for Lamont the Moblin was close enough to help without his weapon. As the Wolfos lunged forward to bite Lamonts head off Sandal was already wrapping his arms around the neck and torso of the Wolfos. In one swift motion he Sandal would twist his body and and throw the Wolfos off of Lamont and away from the two of them. While it hadn't done much to hurt the beast it had at least spared Lamont.

Holding his hand out of Lamont while keeping his eyes on the Wolfos he would let out a sigh of relief that he had been quick enough to help. "You safe. We fight." Once he had helped Lamont up Sandal would take hold of the club hanging at his side. This fight was sure to be a difficult one, but so long as the two of them stayed close together they would at least be able to cover one another.

Lamont grabbed his sword off the ground, fingers clenching around the hilt. He still swayed on his feet, breath coming out in long, deep gasps. The Wolfos' claws had dug deep into his shoulder, tearing at his coat and the skin underneath. Sandal had been a true lifesaver. He shot the Moblin a grateful look, before focusing back on the creature in front of them.

    "Let's finish this guy, Sandal."

The Wolfos growled, but kept its distance. While it snapped its jaws at the two adventureres, it seemed wary of Sandal now. But it had to attack at some point. Lamont adjusted his grip, bringing his sword up in a defensive position. The Wolfos kept circling them, growling and howling. Carefully, the Hylian stepped forward, trying to lure it into attacking.

The wolfos took the bait and charged forward at Lamont! While Sandal trusted Lamont could handle himself, but there was no way that Sandal would just stand back and watch to see what happened. Taking a step forward the moblin would bring his club up high above his head and bring it down hard coming into contact with nothing more than the ground. Where had the wolfos gone!? It had jumped towards its left to avoid Sandals attack placing it directly in line with the large moblin. In one strong lunge the large beast would slam itself into the side of Sandal sending him to the ground hard.

While his heavy armor was great at protecting him from swords, claws and teeth it didn't do much to protect against such heavy impacts like that. Once more his helmet had popped off, but for once Sandal wasn't quite so worried about it. Lamont already knew what he was and didn't seem to be too concerned with it. Standing up Sandal would turn towards the wolfos a scowl on his face as he let out a roar of his own towards the beast. His club was a few feet away from him but he wasn't even concerned about it. Once more the wolfos began to circle the two of them. Watching, waiting, looking for its moment to strike at the two of the again.

    "Sandal!"

Fortunately, Sandal was handling a blow from the Wolfos much better, thanks to his lager frame. He got back up, mostly unscathed, and looking absolutely furious. Even Lamont got a little nervous when he roared at the Wolfos. The white beast cringed, but kept its eyes on the two. It looked to the Hylian that as long as they stuck together, the Wolfos would not dare to attack.

"We're going to try again Sandal. I'll go first."

With that, Lamont shifted his feet, jumping forward, ready to parry the claws that would no doubt be coming for him.

Taking a few deep breaths the Moblin would start to calm down as Lamont jumped forward. He would take a few steps forward and take hold of his club once more, lifting it up off the ground ever so slightly. He would take a few steps to his left further away from Lamont. It only took about two steps for the wolfos to charge in and lunge at Lamont. Sandal could do nothing from where he was, nothing but trust that Lamont would be able to parry the attack and force the wolfos towards him. If everything went according to plan the wolfos would find itself flying towards Sandal after its attack only to be greeted by Sandals club being brought down from above on top of it with enough force to make quite a mess to say the least.

Lamont waited until the last moment, seeing the Wolfos flying at him. Then he ducked, almost losing his footing and throwing himself on the ground. The Wolfos went over him, Sandal's club crashing right into its back. The monster was rammed onto the ground, letting out a strained whine.

    "That's it! We've got i-"

But the Wolfos was not going to give up that easily. It twisted and struggled under the club, scrabbling in the snow as it fought to escape. And escape it did. With a vicious snarl it rolled away, though its back had a bad bent in it and it limped more than walked. But its speed was gone. Though its claws were still sharp, it had trouble moving with a nearly broken back, leaving it vulnerable to any attacks.

Lamont wasted no time in darting back at it again, slashing at its legs and muzzle.

The wolfos was far too injured to dodge Lamonts attack the slash further crippling it. The cuts on its front legs were deep, and could no long support its weight between its broken back and wounded legs. It had fallen to the ground and couldn't do much more than look up at Lamont. The wolfos was defeated, and with its injuries would surely die even if left alone. It couldn't do much more now than whimper asking for them to put it out of its misery.

While the begging eyes and whimper might be tough for Lamont, they were even harder on Sandal. Even as a moblin Sandal was much kinder than most and hated to see anything suffer. He had hoped to finish the wolfos off in one attack knowing that this would be the outcome if he failed. His club was great at breaking things, but it was quite a brutal and messy weapon. If wasn't appropriate for something such as putting something out of its misery. Looking towards Lamont, tears welling up in his eyes he would mange to finally utter a few words. "Finish it." As he spoke the moblin would turn around and start towards his helmet unable to look at the injured wolfos any longer.

This was... harder than Lamont expected it to be. It had been easy to fight the creature when it had actively tried to kill them, but now it was just a miserable pile on the ground, fur matted with half-melted slush and blood, he only felt pity. Sandal did not want to be the one to strike the finishing blow, and Lamont could not blame him.

The Wolfos only let a long, thin whine when the pirate approached. Lamont looked to the side, raising his sword. The whine was abruptly cut off. Almost immediately the ice started to move again, melting away. The Hylian focused on the exit, now open once more, not daring to look back at the Wolfos.

"Sandal...?" He wavered for a moment. He had come here for treasure, and yet. They hadn't come across anything that had looked valuable. At least monetary value. "I-I think I want to go." Lamont was not a violent person by nature. Ending the fight this way had made him deeply uneasy. "There's probably no treasure in here anyway... Save for notes. And maybe some scrap."

Lamont looked over at the Moblin putting on his helmet, waiting for a reply.

Sandal would turn to face Lamont, unable to avoid setting eyes on the now deceased wolfos. "We go." He didn't enjoy fighting, even when his moblin blood tried to take over during a fight. He only ever fought to protect himself, and even then he didn't care for it. As he walked towards Lamont he would start digging around in his adventure pouch once more before pulling out a large piece of cloth.

As he walked by the wolfos he would lay the cloth over it before continuing on towards the exit. Someone else might say that such a monster didn't deserve a kindness like that, but to someone like that Sandal would considered a monster as well. While he had found a few scraps of armor within the cave, and even a fascinating new type of fire he wasn't happy with the way the final fight had gone. Why couldn't it have been a Stalfos? Something undead that didn't know pain. At least then it wouldn't have left such a sour taste in Sandals mouth.

With this adventure over, Sandal would make his way out of the cavern unsure of where he would go next.
