Suddenly, Lamont was very glad for the ring he had previously found. Although he did not share Sandal's unease with the floor yet, he had to admit that he stepped around very carefully, and constantly strained his ears for any signs of the ice cracking.

The only other thing that stood out were various large blocks of ice, seemingly placed at random around the room. But before he could check it out, Lamont became aware of Sandal making his way back to the entrance, clearly unwilling to stand around the holes, or perhaps even the entire floor. The Hylian shuffled back, joining his tall companion.

"Sandal..." He started, his hand hovering above the Moblin's arm, not quite sure if he should put it down or not. Eventually he lightly patted the larger creature's arm in a friendly, if slightly hesistant gesture. "Are you alright?"

The Moblin could only shake his head in response to Lamonts question. The image of the ice falling into the blackness of the whole kept running through his mind. Looking over at his companion he would let out a sigh before mustering up enough courage to speak again. "Heavy. Floor break. Me fall." He knew that the two of them needed to keep moving, but his fear of falling had him frozen in his tracks.

Lamont nodded slowly. He understood his companion's hesitation with stepping on ice, especially ice that seemingly hovered over an infinite chasm, with no telling of just how thick that ice was. But at the same time, it was unlikely there was any other way through the room. Unless they could fly.

In the darkness at the far end of the room, Lamont noticed a dark shape on the wall. A door or gate of some sorts. It was no doubt the way they had to go, except that it currently had no way to reach it. It seemed the heavy blocks of ice scattered around were not just for show...

"Alright, Sandal, you see that over there?" Lamont asked, pointing at the far wall. "We need to move the blocks to build a bridge for ourselves. And they're really heavy. I know you're scared, but I need your help with this."

He flashed what he hoped was an encouraging smile.

"This will take us closer to the treasure, okay? I promise."

Looking across the room at the door or gate Sandal would stand up. He was overjoyed that there was an exit to this terrifying room that they were trapped in. Looking from Lamont towards the large ice blocks and then to the holes in the floor. Gulping the moblin would take his first step forward into the room once more.

"I help. Move blocks. Tell where."

Slowly Sandal would make his way around the first hole. One careful step after another he would make his way through the room. His speed steadily picked up as he moved through the room, his fear dissipating the further into the room he made it. When he finally reached the first block he would look towards Lamont waiting for him to tell him where to move it to.

Sandal lumbered across the icy floor, growing more and more at ease with it, much to Lamont's relief. Getting the Moblin onto the ice had been one step, now they had to maneuver the blocks so that they could make a crossing to the door... Pushing them to the edge was a good start, but they had no means of making the blocks stick together, at least not one he could think of right now.

"Well, if you could move them towards the edge? Careful that they don't fall off!"

Lamont stepped on the ice too, trying to look around for anything that could help them. He peered into the holes, but only saw darkness. An ice-cold drop of water trickled down from the ceiling and hit his neck, making the pirate shudder. He heard more drops, or was it cracking...?

He looked up, just in time to see something large dropping down from the ceiling. At first he thought an icicle had come crashing down, but as far as Lamont was aware icicles did not have giant gaping mouths. Giant gaping mouths that breathed pure ice.

Rolling to one side to avoid the blast of cold and stopping himself just in time to avoid slipping into another hole, Lamont eyed the thing with large eyes. It was slow in its movements, but its breath reached far, and froze everything in its path, judging by the fresh layer of ice now covering part of the floor. Dangerous as it was, it also gave him an idea.

"That's it...! Sandal, don't smash them! We need them to freeze these blocks together!"

If they could somehow lure the thing towards the blocks, perhaps they could make a bridge after all.

Sandal had already pushed two blocks close together near the edge when he heard something crash down behind him. Turning around he would spot the large Freezard attempting to freeze Lamont solid. Gripping his club tightly he would remove it from it's spot hanging from his hip and start towards the beast with every intention of shattering it into small shards of ice.

As Lamont called out to him telling him not to smash them Sandal would only nod and continue forward a few more steps. "I smash." Wait, no that's not right. Stopping the large moblin would look towards Lamont, a confused expression hidden behind his helmet. "No smash?" He'd start looking between Lamont, the Freezard, and his club not sure of what to do if he couldn't smash the creature. Slowly he would return his club to his hip and start towards the large creature once more.

He was directly to the creatures side, but had an upcoming hole between the two of them. After moving around the hole Sandal would be either in front of or behind the Freezard depending on which way he moved around the hole. While he wasn't a tactical genius the Moblin was smart enough to know that getting in front of the beast would be a bad idea. With that instinctual knowledge in mind he would make his way around the hole and towards the back of the beast.

He was almost upon it when the Freezard began to rapidly turn to face him. He would quickly reach out and grab hold of the beast. His strength was enough to stop it mid turn before it was facing him. Slowly he would adjust his grip so that he was directly behind the Freezard. A few moments, and a few loud grunts later, Sandal had lifted the creature off of the ground. The only problem that he was having was that he couldn't see his feet, or the holes in the ground that he stood on. He wanted to ask for Lamont's help, but he wasn't even sure what to say. So he would say the only thing that came to his mind. "Lamont help. Me no see floor." Wait, did he almost form a proper sentence?! While he wasn't quite sure how Lamont planned on getting them to freeze the blocks, he had caught it. He did help right?

Lamont mentally said a prayer of thanks when Sandal decided not to smash the Freezard, as that was currently the only plan he had to get across the chasm to the door.

Getting hold of the creature was a beginning, but now he had to guide the enormous Moblin across a floor with potentially lethal falls. Even though the cave was filled with ice, Lamont could feel sweat beading on his forehead.

"We'll take it slow, be very very careful, okay?" Slowly, the Hylian started giving orders, making sure to steer Sandal well around the holes while also keeping an eye on the Freezard. They were lucky they were not terribly mobile creatures, although holding for a long time could not be pleasant to the Moblin's hands.

Seeing Sandal had nearly made it to the blocks, Lamont started to move as well. He knew Freezards would not exhale ice if they did not see a prey, which meant he had to lure it into using its powers. It was tricky, but if he could get the timing just right, they would be able to progress deeper into the cave.

Stopping in front of the blocks, the young man turned to his companion.

"This is gonna be tricky... But I want you to aim the Freezard at me. I know it sounds crazy, but we need it to breathe ice, else we won't be able to freeze the blocks together. Don't worry about me, I'm quick on my foot, so I'll be sure to jump aside in time." He hoped he sounded more confident than he felt. "On the count of three. One... Two... THREE, NOW!"

With a gulp Sandal would slowly take his first step in the direction that Lamont indicated. With each step his confidence in the directions Lamont was giving to him grew and his worry about falling into one of the seemingly bottomless holes eased. Though he could only hope that this didn't take too terribly long. While the ambient cold didn't bother him in his armor gripping a Freezard was quickly making his gauntlets incredibly cold just like his sabatons. The difference between his hands and his feet was the facts that he was wearing a pair of boots under his sabatons which helped to insulate his feet. His hands weren't so lucky and were quickly starting to go numb from the excess amount of cold.

Upon hearing Lamont's plan the Moblin would stop. Before he had a chance to object to it the Hylian was already counting down. His panic level was skyrocketing. With each number his heart would start beating faster and faster and on the count of three he would turn to face Lamont. All he could do was hope and pray that Lamont was able to get out of the way in time.

Lamont narrowly dodged the flurry of cold, although the heels of his boots came away frosty. But it mattered little to the Hylian, adrenaline and joy over the success of his plan distracting him from his cold feet.

"We did it! There's our bridge!"

He let out a whoop and kicked the ice of his heels. The Freezard's breath had stuck the blocks together. Perhaps not solidly, but hopefully sturdy enough to let the two adventurers cross over them to the door. All they needed to do now was to turn their makeshift bridge so it was hanging across the chasm.

"We're nearly there, just need to- hng- move these..." Lamont grunted. He tried to push the blocks, but their combined weight proved too heavy for his small frame, and he found his feet sliding around more than the blocks.

A rush of relief flooded over Sandal as he heard Lamonts voice. He had survived his suicidal idea to make the bridge. Though it seemed that they had a new problem now. Lamont couldn't turn the blocks to make the bridge, and neither could Sandal so long as he was holding the Freezard. Though with how cold his hand had gotten, it seemed he wouldn't be holding it much longer.

With a grunt Sandal would toss the Freezard to his left wanting to have some room between him and it when he put it down. Luckily he had thrown it just far enough that it had fallen right down one of the holes in the floor. While his hands were certainly relieved to be done holding the Freezard, but it would be a bit before the blood flow had returned to his hands.

Slowly he would make his way towards the frozen blocks. He wasn't even sure he was going to be strong enough to move this much weight on his own even with Power Lift. Grabbing hold on the end of one of the blocks he would use all of his strength to pull it towards himself. The other end would slowly move out over the chasm towards the door as he did so. Once he had enough room he would switch from pulling the block to pushing it. Even with his Snowshoe Ring on his boots would occasionally slide backwards.

It wasn't easy, but after a few minutes of pushing and pulling on the bridge he had finally gotten it lined up with the door. Now all that was left was to climb up on the bridge and walk through the door on the other end. Sandal would look towards Lamont, his breathing was heavy. The Moblin was clearly very tired from moving the bridge. "You go. Me follow." Once Lamont had made it through the door on the other side of the bridge Sandal would follow behind him into the next room.

The next chamber was entirely different. Although the floor here also consisted of the strange, glowing ice they had seen before, it was a solid slab, lacking any holes or chasms of any kind.

Again, there were remants of those who had ventured into the cave before them. Two frozen bodies, surrounded by tools, shreds of fabric and sheets of paper. Some were torn or crumpled, most of them had been frozen in the floor over time.

Lamont tried not to look too hard at them, though he could surpress a shudder at the sight of the knife lodged in one of the corpse's neck. It seemed they had gone down fighting.

But something else drew his attention. High above him and Sandal, perched on the intersection of a set of slender bridges of ice, was something most peculiar. It made the shadows in the cave dance wildly, bathing everything in an eerie glow.

    It was Blue Fire.

Where the bridges met, a brazier rose from the ice, the flame inside roaring, though it seemed to spread no heat. Instead, this room seemed even colder than the last one. Lamont shivered. Even the light coming off it seemed cold. But this was what the expedition had been looking for, right? And presumably what went into the brazier back at the entrance.

"Whaddya think, Sandal? Better start climbing, huh?"

And with that, Lamont headed off to the nearest bridge, starting a slow ascent on the narrow, narrow construction.

While Lamont started his ascent up the closest bridge Sandal would venture into the middle of the room towards the remnants of the previous adventures. The mystical glow of the ice was no longer distracting him and the thought scoring some free armor to tinker with later was too appealing to pass up. Who knows what Lamont would think of the Moblin taking the armor of corpses. Admittedly though Sandal had grown up as a scavenger in the Lost Woods so this was nothing new to him. In fact what he was doing was completely natural and so he hadn't even considered that Lamont might disagree with what he was doing.

It would only take a few minutes for him to stuff the armor and cloth, that wasn't frozen into the ground, into his adventure pouch. Once that was done he would pick up what scraps of paper he could so that he could give them to Lamont. Sandal would have read them himself if he was capable of reading. The Moblin would climb onto the nearest bridge and being his ascent towards the brazier at the top. He could give Lamont the paper when the met up at the top.

Even though Lamont was wearing a Snowshoe Ring, the ice under his feet still felt treacherously smooth. If not for the cold emanating off it, he would have thought he was walking over polished glass. The pirate was vaguely aware of Sandal inspecting the bodies more closely, but he needed most of his focus on where he was putting his feet.

So closely focused he was, that at first he did not hear the flock of Keese descending on him from the ceiling, until it was too late.

For a few frightful moments, all Lamont was aware of was the wild flapping of wings, seeing nothing but tiny furry bodies swarming around him, small claws tearing at his arms. He tried to grab at the Keese and throw them at the ground, but whenever one had gone another one took its place almost immediately.

Lamont dropped to his knees, pressing himself to the cold bridge and throwing his arms around his head in an attempt to shield it. He could only hope that his companion was not similarly under siege.

    "S-sandal! Help me!"

As Lamont cried out for help Sandal would turn towards him and notice the swarm of Keese attacking him. Why had he chosen to take a different bridge? Sandal didn't have any sort of ranged weaponry, nor did he have any type of ranged magic. He wasn't sure what he could do to help his companion out.

Quickly Sandal would start digging through his pouch before pulling out a battered sheet of metal. It was dented and torn, but was mostly flat. It looked to be a section of armor that had once covered someones back. Sandal would take hold of the piece of metal as if it were a frisbee and throw it towards the swarm a Keese. While long ranged attacks weren't his forte, the sheet of metal had flown mostly where he had wanted it to as it sailed past most of the Keese highest above Lamont.

Sandal hadn't been lucky enough to strike down any of the Keese attacking Lamont he had gotten their attention. A little over half of the swarm would stop attacking Lamont and fly towards Sandal to attack him. Gripping the hilt of his club tightly Sandal would start swinging at the winged rats attacking him. Hopefully Lamont had something that could more easily handle the small, fast attackers as Sandal's club wasn't finding its mark on most of its swings.

Clinging on to the bridge for dear life, Lamont noticed little of the departing Keese, as the remainders of the group continued their assault mercilessly. It was only when he heard Sandal attacking that he realised the swarm around him had shrunk considerably.

Taking courage from his companion's fierceness, the Hylian moved his hand to his waist, taking out a dagger. It wasn't much, but he did not carry a lot of other weapons, and at such a close range this was far more effective. He stabbed wildly, using his other hands to snatch at wings, twist and hit whatever came close to him.

Once he had disposed of the swarm, Lamont slumped back against te bridge, the ice feeling cool against his cheek. His hair was in complete disarray, his clothes and skin riddled with tiny holes and scratches from the Keeses' claws. But he was alive.

Slowly, after making sure Sandal was not having too much trouble with the remainder of the Keese, Lamont continued his way up.

It only took a minute or so for Sandal's swings to become more and more precise in striking down the Keese, his natural combat instincts slowly honing his attacks. While the Moblin had no real form or strategy when it came to battle, his race is known for their strong instincts, and it were those instincts that slowly took his wild flailing at the Keese into more precise attacks that starting finding their marks.

Once all of the Keese had been dealt with Sandal would look towards Lamont to see that he was alright and had started on his way back up. Sandal would take a moment to look over his armor, what he could see of it without taking it off, to see what type of damage the Keese had done to it. Some very minor scratches covered a lot of his, but there was no damage that a good polishing wouldn't fix. Though that would have to wait until he was somewhere much warmer and much safer.

Once again the Moblin would start his climb towards the top. As he got closer and closer to the top he would finally catch a glimpse of the flickering blue flame in the brazier above them. Sandal would stop in his tracks and watch as the Blue Fire danced about in the brazier. Never before in his life had he seen something like this. He was used to working with regular flames when working with his armor, but never before had he seen such a color flame. Quickly shaking his head he would break the mesmerizing effect that had come over him and start towards the flame much quicker than he had been before.

The closer he got to the brazier, the colder Lamont became. His breath came out as smoke, and the tips of his fingers started to turn blue. So it really was true what they said about Blue Fire. It was so utterly alien to him, a flame that burned and yet not warmed. If anything, it seemed to suck up whatever warmth came close to it.

Lamont put his hands to his mouth and blew, trying to warm them up.

"So... what do we do now? We've found the fire." Although the temptation was great to reach out and try to touch the flame, the cold biting his nose and ears made him decide otherwise. Best not to lose any bits to frostbite. "Oh! Wait- I put it somewhere here..." He began to dig through his pockets, fishing out one of the sheets they had found before.

Although the scribbling on the page was hard to read, Lamont could make out they were somehow supposed to light the brazier at the entrance of the cave.

"You wouldn't happen to have anything to carry the fire with us? A bottle or lantern maybe?"

They had finally met up at the brazier, and blue fire, at the top of the room. The closer Sandal got to the blue fire, the colder he got. It was a strange sensation for him. Having worked around fire for his outfitting he was used to the heat that fire gave off, so this was something totally foreign. Holding out his a fistful of old paper towards Lamont. "Me find."

After Lamont had taken the papers from him Sandal would start digging around in his adventure pouch for either a bottle or a lantern, or even a stick that they could turn into a torch. Couching down, he would set two bottles on the ground. Each one was about halfway full of water, water that was now probably chilled after having been set on the ice. Sandal would hold one of the bottles up to Lamont as he removed his helmet with the other hand. After everything he was a little thirsty and these were the only bottles he had so it worked out.

Once Lamont would have taken the bottle from him he would have lifted the second one up, opened it and began to drink it. Once the bottle was empty he would look back and forth from the bottle to the blue fire unsure of how he was supposed to safely bottle the blue fire.

    "Oh, thanks."

Lamont accepted the bottle with a smile, taking a sip from it. He took the opporturnity to study his companion a little closer, as it wasn't an everyday occurence that he would get this close to a Moblin. At least not a friendly one.

He wasn't sure wether the water had made him feel any better. Sure, he was less thirsty, but now his insides felt as cold as he did on the outside. Suppressing a shiver, Lamont lowered the bottle, his attention once again on the odd fire. It was as confusing to him as it was to Sandal. To make matters worse, the fire seemed to burn without wood. It was just there, spouting from the ice in the brazier.

"...Maybe try scooping it up?" Lamont offered uncertainly. "Or- hm, I don't know... Could we pick up some of the ice? This stuff is so weird."

Scooping it up? It was cold enough just standing near the blue flames, but to get a hand close enough to scoop it up. Well it was the only idea they had. Standing up slowly Sandal would readjust the bottle in his hand a few times before finally just doing it.

In one quick motion Sandal would swoop his hand through the flickering blue flame starting with the open end of the bottle. When his hand came out the other side there it was a small blue flame trapped in the bottle. Though the flame didn't stay in the bottle for long since Sandal didn't put a lid on it.

His brow would furrow as the flame disappeared from the bottle. Once more he would swoop the bottle through the flame, and cap the bottle once it had come out the other side. Holding the bottle up, Sandal would stare at the small flame contained in the bottle. It was confusing. There was only a limited supply of oxygen in the bottle, and no type of tinder to burn. The flame didn't give off any smoke, or odor either. It really was something else.

Carefully Sandal would put the bottle of blue fire in his adventure pouch, before reaching down and picking up his now ice cold helmet and putting it back on with a shiver.
