Sure. You only need to pay for one entry, and which character it comes from doesn't matter too much to me.
To prevent matches vs BP being gangbeat curb stomps, does the tourney have to be tagteam as well? Or at least, matches vs BP are done as tag teams. I'd rather not have our characters have to solo two very competent fighters.
Yeah I'm with Tsu on this. While I understand the characters belong together as a duo, isn't it a little unfair to have a two-on-one battle when the two are both full characters? Perhaps tag teams would bea good idea as Tsu said.
I don't really think that tag-teams is the right solution. They'd make organizing the tourney and the victory system really difficult for me, and they'd also make grading who wins a lot harder for the Arena Lord. Still, if a concern about pets is valid, a concern about going against two characters is valid. I'm sleep-deprived right now, so I can't judge too well, but as I see it there are several ways this could go. 1) Someone with Arena experience posts with a great solution that solves everything 2) Everyone who has a problem with it shrugs and says w/e 3) We could treat this like pets (have individual contestants determine double or single, and if single, which character they'd like to face) 4) BP picks a different, single-character entry 5) Everyone gets frustrated and leaves the tourney What are your thoughts?
I'd prefer picking a new character over letting people decide on whether to face Horus or Luna, truth be told. They're designed to go together, so they get massive penalties when fighting alone, both mentally and physically. I have no clue who to use otherwise though, so if I don't get an idea before Quill frees up I'll pull out.
Whatever then. If its that big a deal, I'm willing to face both Horus and Luna. I'd rather have one round I get beasted in than cutting someone out of the tourney.
Well, that was easy. Sorry you guys had to go through that. BP, don't worry; even before the fight with Tsu starts, my thread with Squish has to be graded by the AL. You've got time to ponder; nobody needs to duck out of the Tourney c:
I don't want to force anyone into this tourney under conditions they disagree with. Just, that includes myself. If I can't work up the muse required for multiple threads demanding activity with another character I'll have little choice.
Alright, you let me know what you decide then. Again, you've got a lot of time. - Quill (Loft) - Blonde Panther - Tsubori (Masaro) - Squishy (Locke) - Idarian (Edric) - Clooby (Julius) - Unnamed Dude (Cecil) - Darth Slaverus (Farley) Pot: 80 Rupees Anyone else interested?
In like a llama! -Eternis (Holle) using the 10 rupees left from character creation... all my monies... I hope it starts after the FT ends, because then I'll have Detox...
Probably. Just remember to post quickly :P - Quill (Loft) - Blonde Panther - Tsubori (Masaro) - Squishy (Locke) - Idarian (Edric) - Clooby (Julius) - Unnamed Dude (Cecil) - Darth Slaverus (Farley) - Eternis (Holle) Pot: 90 Rupees Anyone else interested? Bring it up to an even 100r?
Progress Report! --- Step 1: Get Thread With Squish Graded Step 2: Begin Match With Tsu Step 3: Get Thread With Tsu Graded Step 4: Set Up Arena Tourney Step 5: Begin ---- - Quill (Loft) - Blonde Panther - Tsubori (Masaro) - Squishy (Locke) - Idarian (Edric) - Clooby (Julius) - Unnamed Dude (Cecil) - Darth Slaverus (Farley) - Eternis (Holle) Pot: 90 Rupees
So, I'm going to hold a quick vote. I would use the built-in poll function, but I think that may need to be done at the beginning of a thread, not halfway through. Those in favor of having a round-robin style tournament? This is the basic "everyone fights everyone" scenario. So, for example, let's say BP, Squish, and Ribs were in a round-robin. BP would fight Squish, then BP would fight Ribs, then Squish would fight Ribs, then we'd tally the points and call victory. Those in favor of having a bracket style tournament? This is the standard ladder; if you've ever played Super Smash Brothers, this is how their Tourney system works. We'd probably do Double Elimination with a Loser's Bracket (this means it takes two losses to really lose and if you lose once you can still win the tournament by fighting your way back to the top). This vote is also to figure out who's still interested in the Tourney. If you haven't posted and you're still not sure if you want to join, you still have time. I'll make an official announcement when sign-ups are closing. For Round Robin - Quill (small enough group for it not to take forever) - Tsu (more potential for varied matches) - Darth - Squish (small group) - E (Repeats bleck) For Double Elimination Brackets
Truthfully, Quill, I'm going to have to pull out afterall. My interest for grand-scale tourneys has diminished, and Horus and Luna are going to have plenty of threads coming up as well as need for every rupee they can get in the light of future developments. Since I can't think of anyone else I'd want to use, I'm going to have to withdraw. Maybe we can do a simple single-thread thing sometime, instead.
Round Robin. It's more likely that Holle can beat someone through pure ingenuity, and it's unlikely if he has to do it twice against the same person.
Alright, round robin it is! So, next is the question of stages. I have a list ready but I need to ask you this before posting them. Would you rather... 1) There be a clear list of stages to choose from, full agreement between partners being needed - Tsu (choice of mood) - Darth (wants a say) 2) None of you know where you're going or even the options; Loft would be surprising each pair with their setting - Quill (likes surprises) - E (randomness ftw!)
