The Subrosian sidled up with the fire as close as possible, feeling the radiant warmth from the hearth wash over him. It wasn't enough, though. Even from his table, he could hear the pounding of rain outside of the inn. The place had only been recently opened, and though it was in good repair, it seemed to have few customers. No surprise there, considering its location, being Ruto of all places. Destroyed once, and just getting back on its feet, the village was starting to flourish again, with its influx of former residents, but very few outsiders came. And why would they? While the rebuilding of the city was going fairly well, Ruto wasn't without its problems. Namely, roving bands of monsters and bandits, which certified it as a Grade A shit hole.

And, of course, the inhabitants were also fairly xenophobic. Also not a surprise, considering what they'd been through, but the few patrons in the inn didn't conceal their contempt well. They made no attempt at being quite with their slander. Dogath didn't particularly care, but even the waitress and the inn keep seemed content to let him sit there without any sort of assistance. He gripped at the canvas that covered Sharon, his canon, which lay resting against the wall next to him. Dogath rose abruptly, moving towards the counter brusquely. "A hot soup, please." He asked shortly, placing a few rupees on the bar, which was just barely shorter than he. The inn keep grunted: Vargus was his name, Dogath believed.

"Oi, Malory, get 'im a bowl. She'll come to yer seat, so feel free ta' go back to it." The inn keep flapped his hands towards Dogath's table. Dogath's left eye winced. He'd come to realize, during his time on the surface, that meat bags came in two varieties. Those deserving respect, and those not. Vargus was quickly approaching the latter, and Dogath had little use for those. He moved to return to his seat, watching as the mustachioed man scraped his payment off of the wooden counter, before being halted by a hand on his shoulder. One of the patrons at the bar had apprehended him, and by the redness of his face and stink of his breath, it was obvious that he'd had too much to drink.

Dogath's fist clenched, the black leather of his gloves creaking, as the man began to speak. "I've always wondered about you Subrosians. You always walk about, wearing these thick robes, and few people have ever seen what you really look like. Got something to hide? Too scared that we'll find out that you're just another monster, like the ones out there, killing innocent people?" The man now had him by the collar, trying to peer into the dark depths of Dogath's hood, but only Dogath's eyes peered back out.

"This is your only warning, filth. Let me go, or you'll have other problems to worry about." Dogath's warning went unheeded. Snarling, the man pulled back a fist, fully prepared to lay one on Dogath. In a blur, the man had released Dogath, was was now resting back against the counter, gasping for breath. That was one of the advantages of being so short, and wearing such robes: taller people had a hard time seeing exactly what you were doing, like throwing a fist at their gut. Dogath had felt the satisfying crack of a rib, so he left it at that, returning to his seat under the condemning gaze of most other people in the inn.

Only a few seconds after the drunk had been taught a lesson would the door to the inn would open letting in a strong breeze and a small amount of rain and Samanosuke walked in closing the door behind him. He was soaking wet from head to toe having forgotten to grab a cloak to protect him from the rain before having left Gerudo Fortress. The man was rather tall and quite muscular even by Hylian standards. His tanned skin was covered in goosebumps from the cold, the man visibly shivering. Quickly he would make his way towards the fire, and take a seat in front of it in an attempt to warm up and perhaps dry off if only slightly.

After a moment in front of the fire, just long enough to get rid of that bone gripping chill, Samanosuke would stand back up and approach the counter. "Can I get a hot drink, a warm meal, and some dry clothing." For someone of his size and build Samanosuke had a kind voice, accompanied by a kind smile. People always expected him to be a rude and crass man upon first sight, as are so many of the Southern Hylians. While he could have turned out that way, he had honed his rage and thus achieved a more tranquil exterior, at least when he wasn't in the heat of battle. While it was true the boy was no genius, nor was he well versed in normal etiquette like the Northern Hylians he was far from rude, unlike Vargus.

The inn keep would only eye Samanosuke as he made his request. "I assume you have a way to pay for all of this?" Seeing the boy soaked to the bone, no cloak to protect him from the elements, Vargus had assumed that the boy didn't have enough rupees to pay for everything he had requested. Samanosuke wasn't unused to the attitudes of his fellow Southern Hylians, so the suspicion and bad attitude didn't bother him in the slightest. With a forced smile he would pull some rupees from his pocket. "Of course. I'm sorry. I should have brought them out sooner." His smile was fake, as was his humility. He knew the people here had it had, and he wasn't one to add to the problems of his kind, at least not any longer.

Vargus would scrape the rupees off the counter and head towards the back. "Oi, Malory. Another soup and a hot drink for the one at the bar! As he yelled for Malory the man would disappear into the back, emerging a moment later with a pair of dry clothing. They were nothing fancy. Just a basic tan tunic with matching pants, similar to what Samanosuke was wearing only lighter in color. "These should fit you just fine." Spoke Vargus as he set the clothing down on the bar top.

Samanosuke would only smile as he took the clothing and headed towards the bathroom to change. He would emerge a moment later in his new clothing. The shirt was a little baggy, and the pants were a tad bit too long. They would have to do until his clothing dried out. Better to wear some ill-fitted clothing than wet clothing and catching a cold after all. Heading back towards the fire the boy would look around for a moment trying to devise a way to hang his wet clothing to dry in front of the fire. Moving a few chairs off to the side of the fire he would drape his wet clothing over the back of them before taking a seat back at the bar to wait for his food.

The so called Malory poked her head out from the kitchen; a young lass, with starry eyes. It was no surprise that her eyes were drawn to the young man who'd just entered, but recalling her work, she looked over at the Subrosian sitting alone. She shivered: something about him felt wrong, like an animal in a cage. She also noted that one of the bar patrons was slumped down on the ground, presumably passed out. Everyone else assumed the same, believing that Dogath's blow had merely been the tipping point for the alcoholic, and only Dogath knew differently. It was more his blow, than the alcohol, that had done the man in. He'd wake up with an awful pain in his stomach, though he'd as likely as not remember the events of the night.

Malory flounced out of the kitchen, carrying a tray with two bowls of soup, and a solitary mug of mulled ale for the young man. She quickly set the bowl down before Dogath, part of the soup sloshing out and onto his robe, though she never noticed. Dogath frowned, brushing it off the water resistant cloth. Excitedly, she walked up to the newcomer on the opposite side of the bare, setting down the mug and bowl, giving him a nice smile as she did so. "You're new around here. Just passing through?" Her voice lilting.

Meanwhile, Dogath looked down at the steaming soup, unsatisfied with its degree of heat. It seemed that nowhere did meat bags know what "hot" soup meant. Groaning, he stood up from his chair, sticking a gloved hand into the fire. The few patrons that were paying attention gasped, their eyes growing as large as plates, as Dogath pulled a hot coal out of the fire. The Dodongo leather of his gloves held up easily to the heat, so it was a simple task to drop a few glowering lumps into his soup. he sat back down, satisfied with his handiwork.

Samanosuke would only smile back to Malory set down his food and drink and struck up a conversation with him. "That easy to tell?" The boy would let out a light laugh before he lifted the mug to his lips to take a drink of the ale. He could feel the liquid all the way down, the warmth of it radiating throughout his entire body. While the shivering hadn't quite passed, the chill that he had felt had greatly lessened by this point. He would eat a few spoonfuls of soup before returning to the conversation at hand. "Yeah I'm only passin through. I thought here would be a good place to.."

His train of thought, and therefore his sentence was halted by the murmuring of the patrons of the inn. Samanosuke would look around inquisitively catching only the end of Dogaths act. Just what the hell is that kid thinking? It was his first time outside of Gerudo Fortress, as such he had never seen an Ambrosian before. The only monsters he had encountered were those that linger around the remains of Rauru Village and the Eastern Caves such as Moblins, Lizalfos, and Stalfos. So while he may have thought that Dogath was a young Hlyian child, he would soon find out just how wrong he was. Standing up and leaving his soup, ale, and company behind he would hastily approach Dogath. "Whoa whoa whoa! Easy kiddo thats dangerous. If the soup wasn't hot enough for you, you shoulda just asked her to warm it up for you." While Samanosuke may not have had the slightest clue what he had just set in motion he was sure to find out in a matter of seconds.

Malory's elbows dug into the counter as she leaned forward, listening intently to the man. A bit forward, she knew, but outsiders interested her, and it helped that he was rather attractive. Her short time of concentration broke, though, when he abruptly stood up and approached the Subrosian. She'd only learned of them recently, Dogath being her first encounter with the very alien race. He'd been there in the village for a few days now, apparently waiting for someone to arrive. Malory, though curious, did not want to wonder about the kind of company such a man would keep. No, it was better to wonder about glorious young heroes, who would come take her from that small and wretched village.

Dogath would have scoffed at that. War was no time for such fancies. Nor for the inexperienced. And the boy who stood in front of him certainly seemed inexperienced. Trained, certainly, but also sheltered. "Do not worry for me. I am a Subrosian, and we live beneath the earth, where stone is but liquid fire." To demonstrate, he took one of the still glowing coals into his spoon and devoured it. Continuing the point, Samanosuke would hear the crunching and gnashing of it between teeth. He glanced over at the door distractedly, and as if it were a harbinger, the door opened. The rain had ceased its pounding, now only a steady drizzle. A cloaked man entered the inn, clearly a Hylian. He looked over at Dogath, before pulling out a seat across from him and calling for something warm.

Dogath looked up at Samanosuke. He could smell a desire for adventure on the boy. "I invite you to my table. If you are just passing through, you may want to hear this first." Dogath motioned to a third seat. The new man, bearded and likely in his thirties, looked over to Dogath questioningly, but if he had any protests, he didn't vocalize them. At the counter, Malory sighed: another black mark on the Subrosian, if the handsome young man chose to sit.

Samanosuke could only watch in amazement as Dogath ate the hot coal with ease. He had never seen anyone do such a feat. The body had heard about Gorons and the way they eat rocks and gems, but has never seen it first hand either. Of course those stories don't involve the rocks being hot either so the sight was something that he had never thought he'd ever see in his lifetime. He wasn't sure what to say when he was invited to join the man at the table, nor was he sure what to say to the man after having been so rude. Even if it had been accidental. "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I hope I didn't offend you." Samanosuke would let out a nervous laugh as he scratched the back of his head.

Of course the invitation had intrigued him, and so he had decided to accept the mans invitation. "I think I would in fact like to join you. Give me a moment to grab my food if you don't mind." Turning quickly towards the counter Samanosuke would ponder how the older Hylian had met Dogath. It wasn't any of his business, but he couldn't help his curiosity. Once reaching the bar he would grab his mug and bowl and give Malory a smile. "I'm sorry. Business calls." While he wasn't sure that the excuse fit, he had to say something to her though. Turning on his heel before she could show her disappointment the boy would return to the table and set his food and drink down before pulling out the chair that had been offered to him and sitting down. While he wasn't sure what it was the this Subrosian wanted him to hear his interest was certainly piqued.

Unsure of if they planned on waiting for the cloaked man to get his drink, or if they would begin now that he was seated Samanosuke would remain quiet as he ate his food. He would listen intently to whatever was to be said, but had no plans to speak up unless his opinion was directly asked for. After all he was a guest at this table, and had already been rather rude once already. He didn't plan on having to remove his foot from his mouth again any time soon.

Dogath shook his head in the negative. "I do not take offense, no." Dogath was pleased to hear those words from the boy, though. Too few people in these lands seemed to have manners. "But, now that you know, hopefully it won't be quite so alarming the next time you see it." Dogath chuckled a little. He had, after all, invited the boy to the table, and if things went as planned, they could very well end up sharing another meal. Dogath shrugged, before nodding when Samanosuke excused himself to collect his things.

Malory's hope rose slightly as Samanosuke approached the counter once again, but were quickly dashed. She sighed heavily. "Malory! I don't pay ya' to stand around. Get that ass in gear, and get the new 'un what he asked for!" The inn keep barked out, his grating voice filling the room. Malory winced, before running back into the kitchen with a mug. She got a peek at the newcomer before she rounded the corner. Odd. Certainly not nearly as frightening as I thought he might be.

By the time Samanosuke returned, Dogath and the other man, whose name was Yousef, had engaged in idle chit chat. But once he was seated at their table, Dogath nodded to Yousef, who pulled out a rolled canvas from a scroll case beneath his cloak. He unfurled it, laying it flat on the table. It was a notice, and it bore the Hylian royal seal. He began to read, taking his time as his frozen lips began to warm.

"It has come to our attention that, though Ruto has recently been rebuilt, commerce has been poor. Despite its relative proximity to the northern lands, little travel goes through said village, which should, by all means, be a resting point for travelers on their way to the Eastern Caves. Scouts have reported an increase in enemy activity near the bridge directly to the village's west, which is without a doubt the cause of this issue. Because of the recent emergence of certain anomalies, chiefly that occurring in Impa, Dragon Roost Island and the Kokiri Forest, our military resources have been spread thin. Under the authority of the royal family, you are given permission to enlist the aid of mercenary hands to resolve the matter, as well as dispense payment." Sometime during his talk, Malory had swung by with a warm mug, from which Yousef now drank deeply, whetting his palate.

Dogath kept an eye on the younger Hylian, waiting for a reaction.

Samanosuke listened intently as Yousef spoke, his mind wandering to a few different subjects. Was this man somehow linked to the Hylian Army and the Royal Family? Or had he come across this notice somewhere else? No, he had to be part of the army. Otherwise he wouldn't need permission to use mercenaries for a normal bounty notice. Just what were the enemies at the bridge? Samanosuke had been told of multiple difference races and creatures such as Poes, Deku Scrubs, Lynels, Darknuts, Wizzrobes, Wolfos', and many others. Of course he hadn't seen any of them before, let alone ever fought any of them. Was he prepared to face down a new type of monster at the bridge? Was it even monsters at the bridge? As the boy mulled over these thoughts, his faces wrinkled from his thoughts he continued to eat. He wasn't sure if he should speak up and say anything of if he should remain quiet and let one of them speak up first.

Against his better judgment the boy decided to speak up and ask a few questions. "Since scouts have already determined that there are in fact enemies at the bridge, did they happen to report any specifics on what types of enemies or their numbers? Or would we be going in blind?" It was official, the boy was interested. Not only would it give him a chance to help out travelers, but those of this village by helping increase commerce. This fit into exactly what he felt he needed to do to atone for his behavior as a child. It was a naive notion to be sure, but Samanosuke was still wet behind the ears when it came to anything away from Gerudo Fortress. This would give him some real world experience, and perhaps even someone he could consider a friend, at the very least a comrade. Even if only for a short time. That is, if the two experienced warriors would accept the eager young warrior into their group for this adventure.

The boy spoke well, at that was a good indication of how he thought. Rather than balk at the situation, and simply decide against trying the bridge, he realized the necessity of opening the route once more. Moreover, he got right to the core of the matter: the number and types of enemies they would be facing would be important, or else they'd quickly find themselves in deep water. There was something else, though, that Dogath needed to know, but he waited to pose that question to Yousef.

"The ranks of the roving bands are filled mostly with Moblins. They are fairly barbaric, so we shouldn't expect them to be well disciplined or trained, but they are well armed enough. The other problem is that they keep several packs of Wolfos, in order to track down caravans and the like. It'll be difficult to take them by surprise, if we're caught upwind from them." Yousef answered Samanosuke.

"But that's not why you came to me, is it, Yousef. You know as well as I do that, even between the two of us, it would be suicide to go after the band. Even with a third, we'd need at least a dozen trained men to compete with even one of the bands." Dogath leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. No, what Yousef had in mind was something else entirely.

"You're right. That's not why I asked to meet you here. It's become increasingly more apparent that these are not simple raid parties, with the intention only slashing and burning. It's not just Ruto that's suffering. Communication is becoming increasingly difficult, because these Wolfos are adept at sniffing out our messengers and scouts. We have reports of a small base of operations, this side of the river, run by a Dinalfos named Rubyscale. We believe that he is currently controlling these bands." Things were beginning to fall into place. Dogath knew exactly why the man had approached him, then.

"If I understand correctly, Yousef, you want a team to enter that camp, to cut the head off the snake so to speak, in order to send their organization into disarray. Moblins have never been well known for their ability to work in large groups, so you figure that the groups will splinter once their figure head is gone. Clean up should be fairly simple after that." he mused, thinking about how they might approach the situation. "But we'll need at least a few more men, even for any sort of assassination. I will assume that you brought some with you." Yousef nodded his ascent. "It seems that you have things in place, then. I accept."

Yousef looked over to Samanosuke. "Before you give me your answer, I suppose that if we're to work together, we should at least exchange names. I am Yousef, and though you've met him already, the man sitting next to you is called Dogath." Dogath nodded to Samanosuke.

Samanosuke may have gotten to the heart of the matter proposed, but not once did he think of anything past it. The difference in experience between Dogath and the boy were clear. Of course that is exactly why Yousef had come to Dogath in the first place. Of course as the plan of going after this Dinalfos, Rubyscale, unfolded before him Samanosuke was brought back to his original question. "I don't suppose that the reports on Rubyscale mentioned the number, and type, of his guards? While it may be a different location, and the main objective has slightly shifted, knowing what your up against is still needed." While the bridge would have been an operation to rout the enemy, the assault on the base was more focused on eliminating Rubyscale over his guards.

He had been so focused on planning that he continued on without thinking, inadvertently giving his answer before giving his name. With a small laugh and smile the boy would look towards Yousef. "Sorry, I tend to get wrapped up in what I'm doing. My name is Samanosuke." One of the boys biggest flaws would probably have to be that he focused too much on one things. After years of being lost to a blind rage, and the training to focus it, the others in Gerudo Fortress noticed that he was unusually focused. He would train for so long that he would forget to stop to eat at times. In his sparring matches he would usually go for a finishing blow that ended up causing the overseeers to step in, resulting in him attacking them before being knocked to his senses. This focus is probably a side affect of learning to harness his rage at such a young age, but given enough time he may eventually break free of that habit. Or at the very least not be so overly consumed by his focus.

Even if they didn't have any information on the small base Samanosuke viewed this as a chance to grow. The group that Yousef had prepared with the addition of Dogath would be enough to handle things, if not Yousef would have surely brought more men with him. With that info in his mind he knew him going with them or not wouldn't have a huge impact on them, his decision on going with them or not would truly only effect his own life. He had fought alongside masterly trained Gerudo most of his life, this was a chance to see a Northern Hylian trained for the army in action as well as a Subrosian. He couldn't pass up the chance to learn from these two. "Regardless of the information you have on the camp I would like to join you. You wouldn't decide to go if you didn't think you could win after all." The young Hylian had heart that was to be sure, and he wasn't dull when it came to matters of fighting that much was clear. His instincts were sharp, and he was well trained. He just wasn't experienced outside of his home. He was indeed sheltered.

Yousef laughed. "You'd think so, yeah, but we'll only have about seven, yourself included. Like the notice said, we're spread quite thin, and the four that I brought with me were all that could be spared at the moment. That said, they can all hold their own, and Dogath here, well, he's his own special case." Yousef tipped his head in the Subrosian's direction. "As for the number, Rubyscale is well protected for a single man, but not enough to prohibit his travel to meet with any of the bands, should the need arise. We can expect around a dozen, maybe a few more, to be present. But we'll have to time it well, lest we catch them when one of the groups has returned. That would bring their number up to thirty, probably more." Yousef answered, pulling out a second scroll case, removing a fairly detailed map.

He pointed at a tiny red mark, alongside the river, north of the bridge. "That's where the camp is located. Unless one of the bands has instructions to return to the camp, Rubyscale otherwise sends his orders downstream to a courier. We'll have to head north, keeping as wide of birth as possible, so we don't tip our hand too early." Yousef paused, letting Dogath take a word.

"Though we're few in number, we should be able to take out the entire camp, if they number at only a dozen. It's not an assassination, then, but getting the advantage of surprise is our best chance nonetheless." Dogath thought for a moment, beginning to understand why they wanted him brought along. "We strike at night, then, under the cover of darkness. I'm the artillery, to start things off with some thunder and hopefully take out a few, and at the very least disorient the rest."

Yousef grunted. "That about sums it up, yes. It won't go so easily, though. Rubyscale surrounds himself with only those he trusts, generally other lizardfolk, all of whom are deadly in their own right. We don't have much information gathered on their arms, but it should be safe to assume that they are likely almost as well equipped as ourselves." Yousef gathered up his things after slamming down an empty mug. Returning them to their respective cases, he stood up from the table, tossing a few rupees the inn keep's way. "See you two at dawn, then. My men and I have other lodging. The rest of the specifics we'll work out on the road." Saying his goodbyes, he replaced his chair, before striding out from the inn.

"I think that's enough for tonight." Dogath indicated Malory with a tilt of his head, who was sitting at one stools of the bar. "She seems to have taken an interest in you. I've taken up enough of your time, so don't feel obligated to remain at this table." He glanced down at his soup, which had grown cold during their discussion. There was naught for it, he supposed.

While Samanosuke didn't care for the area that Rubyscale was camped in, having a preference for fighting in areas where he can fully use his maneuverability granted to him by his Wall Kick, it couldn't be helped. Seven against a dozen or so weren't terrible odds, and since Dogath was to serve as artillery to start the attack that could very easily even out the numbers. This was all assuming that they didn't show up while a separate band was around, or coming back to the main camp. Shaking the worst case from his head he would focus on the solid info. Lizalfos were something he had experience against. Most preferred to wield spears or a sword and shield, the biggest problem would arise from Rubyscales Fire Breath. A visible frown would spread over the boy's face as a thought came to mind. "We should keep our eyes up tomorrow. If they are lead by a Dinalfos, they may have a handful of Aeralfos as scouts. If we don't keep our eyes peeled for them on our approach they might spot us and try to lure us into a trap."

Yousef was already gone, and Dogath had already hinted towards Malory, but once again the young Hylian had focused in on something. Finishing off his ale, Samanosuke recalled the map in his mind. There was a mountainous are north Rubyscales camp, chances were that there would be at least a few guards stationed there to prevent enemies coming at them from a semi-hidden position. Everything else around the came was wide open with no cover, unless the bands had discarded a few wagons nearby. Chances of that were slim though. Their best bet would probably be to circle around into the mountains while expecting a few gaurds to be stationed there. If they could take them out without alerting the camp it would provide Dogath an elevated position to fire from with decent cover to hide behind on their approach. The boy was confident in his thoughts, and decided to share them with Dogath tonight, lest he forget. "Dogath, I think we may want to circle around into the mountains above the camp. There will probably be a small number of guards stationed there to prevent an ambush from the north since those mountains are the only thing nearby the main camp. If we can strike down any guards that may be there without alerting the main camp it would provide us the most cover to approach from, as well as provide you with an elevated position to fire from." This boy really needed a little less focus on the matter of tomorrow, and a bit more on the matter of what he was going to do tonight. After all he still hadn't checked to see if there was even a room open in the inn for him tonight. Hopefully Dogath would be able to snap Samanosuke from his focus of tomorrow before the boy began to devise plans all throughout the night.

"That would be ideal, but beyond an initial volley, I'll need to be close so that I can join the fray. In any case, best leave the rest for the morning. For now, I think some rest is much needed." Dogath concluded, standing up from his seat. He adjusted the cloth covering Sharon, grasping at its strap before slinging the cannon over his shoulder. The wooden floorboards creaked under the weight, but did not give. "This is what I meant by artillery, and I don't think it would be wise to continue firing it, once the rest of you have leaped into action." Dogath said dryly. It was a bad idea indeed. Besides, he'd miss out on all the fun otherwise. With that, Dogath headed up the stairs, which also seemed to strain beneath him, yet held nevertheless.

The young Hylian would frown knowing that Dogath was right. Of course ideas had already started to flood his mind, but before he could even sort through them his new companion was already standing up. Eyeing the large cannon Samanosuke was surprised that Dogath could lift it so easily. Maybe their race was innately strong even for their small size? Due to the cloak that the Subrosian wore the boy was unable to see the power braclet that allowed Dogath to wield such a large cannon. It wasn't his place to ask, nor did he care to pry. So long as Dogath didn't struggle while wielding such a large weapon if was of no concern to him. "I suppose your right. I should probably inquire about a room myself." Resigning himself to calling it a night Samanosuke would stand up and follow behind Dogath for only a moment. As Dogath headed towards the stairs, Samanosuke headed back towards the bar.

Once standing next to Malory he would flash her a smile. "Well it looks like I'll be staying the night. You wouldn't happen to have any rooms available would you?" The girls face would flush a bright red as if he had just asked her if he could stay in her room tonight. Or maybe that was just how she had interpreted his question? Either way it was clear that there was something of a misunderstanding. Malory would return his smile as she looked down and away from him a little embarrassed. "I think we might have one room left." She was nervous for some reason, it's not like she was inviting him to stay the night in her room after all. With a smile Samanosuke would reach into his pocket and pull out a few more Rupees. "I'll take it. Will this be enough to cover the nights stay?"

Malory would only nod as she took the Rupees from him and placed the room key in his hand in exchange. Maybe now with Dogath gone the two of them could get back to their earlier discussion. Before she had a chance to bring it up the boy had already turned around and started for the stairs. "You don't have to go so soon do you? I was hoping we could continue our earlier conversation that had been interrupted." He faced became even more flushed than it already was as she called out to him, she was only thankful that most of the patrons had already passed out or were to drunk to care. Samanosuke would stop his walk towards the stairs and turn around. He had just realized he had forgotten his normal attire by the fire, which was going to make things awkward for him in just a moment.

Taking a few steps towards Malory, the young Hylian would close his eyes and smile as he began to scratch the back of his head. "I'm sorry, I really am, but we have an early start for a long day. So I'd love to sit an chat with you for a bit, but it's just not possible tonight." A nervous laugh would escape from him as he stepped past her and headed towards the fire, collecting his clothing from the backs of the chairs before returning them to where they belonged. As he headed back towards the stairs he stopped next to Malory once more. "How about I make you a deal though. Once our business is finished I'll come back and talk with you. It may take a day or two, but that's the best I can do right now." While Malory clearly wasn't happy with the situation she knew that there was nothing she could do about it and would have to accept his offer. "Deal." With that she would quickly turn towards the table that he and the others had been at and collect the dirty dishes and disappear into the kitchen. While Malory cleaned up the table Samanosuke headed up the stairs to the room he had just rented for the night. He needed to get some sleep, lest he be useless the next day.

Dogath woke some time before dawn, stretching slightly from his slumber. He had woken early in order to perform his routine maintenance of Sharon, which considering its impending use, deemed prudent. Wiping off the dust, and making the interior was still solid and uncracked, he gave it a satisfied pat. With a few minutes of oiling, it was ready. Pulling an overcloak over his robes, a dark black in color, Dogath hoisted the cannon over his shoulder by the strap and quietly made his way downstairs.

He was greeted by the pleasing smell of grilling meats: one of the foods that wasn't so different between the surface and the underground, albeit coming from different sorts of creatures. Dogath was glad the cook, at least, was diligent. Compared to the inn keep, the man was a saint, though that didn't say too much. Despite some hiccups here and there, Dogath found his food generally palatable, which was largely the reason he had chosen to stay at the place. Shaking his head to dispel the alluring smell, he took a look around, the first bits of light trickling in.

The bottom floor had emptied out sometime after he'd gone to bed, and had been subsequently swept and cleaned. The chairs were flipped up onto the tables, while the hearth was cold and black. Dogath shivered lightly in the morning cold, though today was already proving to be far warmer than the previous. He noted in particular that the man he'd incapacitated was now gone, presumably having been moved or by his own power upon waking. With a sigh, he padded over to the kitchen door, peeking a head in through the frame.

"Malory told me you're headed out today. Said something about fighting the enemy, to help alleviate some of our problems." the tall man, who was surprisingly lean for a chef, fed some wood into the stove upon which he cooked, never looking up from its surface while he spoke. Thinly sliced ham sizzled, though it was sparse. The village was having to cut back on its consumption of meat, while it worked on establishing its farmlands. What little Dogath had eaten while he stayed at the inn was likely due to this man's generosity, for which he was thankful.

"Yeah." was all he replied with, settling into a stool that sat up against the wall. He looked over at the small kitchen table to his right, noting a small woven basket, along with a note.

"s' from Malory. Said to give it to the youngun' you're going with, as thanks for what you two are doing. I'm sure that you'll be paid well, but nevertheless, we're thankful. Most of the people around here won't admit as much, but we need the help, and have for some time now. You've not been treated well around here, and I doubt you'll get an apology out of anyone, but I think they'll leave you alone, from now on." the other man said gruffly, poking at the cooking meal with a spatula. Scooping it up, he placed it in a chipped bowl with a spoon, handing it to the Subrosian. "Good luck." With a nod, which Dogath returned, he went back to his work.

Taking his meal, as well as the basket, he sat down on the floor of the main room, waiting for Samanosuke to rise, or dawn to come, whichever came first.

Samanosuke would only groan as the first few rays of morning light shone in through the window of his room and right on to his face. It was no wonder this was the last remaining room available, it was one of the ones that caught the most morning light. Slowly the boy would sit up on the edge of the bed and scratch at the back of his head. This wasn't an unfamiliar feeling to him, waking up with the morning light, that didn't make it one he enjoyed though. Standing up with a stretch the young Hylian would head into his rooms bathroom. There was a decent sized pitcher with some water next to a large bowl on a table. With his eyes still half closed the boy would pour the water into the bowl before lowering his hands into it the water was cool, but not overly cold. In one quick motion the boy would splash some of the water onto his face using cupped hands. As the cold washed over his face it would finish waking him up, his eyes finally fully opened. He would dry his face off on a nearby towel before exiting the bathroom having finished all other business he needed to in there.

He would remove the clothing he had bought the night before and drape them over the foot board of the bed frame before putting on his original outfit. He really didn't want to go into battle wearing ill-fitting clothing after all. Once changed he would fasten his few pieces of leather armor over top of his tunic. While his leather breastplate and leather bracers had seen better days, to the point that plenty of people had told him that he needed to replace them, Samanosuke had faith that they would hold up awhile longer yet. Even if he didn't have faith, he needed them to hold up awhlie longer. At least until this mission was done, after which he could make a point to replace them with his pay. Now fully dressed the boy would make the bed and fold the clothing he had worn the night before and set them on top of the bed. While they were now his, he had no place to store then and had decided to just leave them behind. He was sure that the inn keep wouldn't mind being able to sell them to someone else later. Now finished with everything he needed to do in this room he would slip his katanas underneath his belt one on each hip before exiting the room and heading downstairs.

As he neared the bottom of the steps he would catch sight of Dogath with a plate of food and a basket on the floor. "Mornin'. Called out the young Hylian with a yawn. The smell of grilled meat filled the room causing the boys stomach to grumble with hunger. He didn't see Malory or the inn keep around to take an order either, made him wonder how Dogath got his plate. Of course the answer was rather obvious. So before joining Dogath at the table he would head into the kitchen first with a smile. "That smells amazing." He was just getting ready to ask for a plate, but the cook was already passing a plate to him. "Why thank you, not just for the compliment on the food, but for what your getting ready to do for this town o' ours. I done said this to your friend out there, but we're thankful for what y'all are doin' for us. While most won't repeat that to your friend, there are a few of us that aren't too proud to say it to him. You on the other hand might get sick of hearin' it fore long. You take care out there." Samanosuke would smile as he took the plate of food from the man. "I will, and you take care as well."

With that the boy would exit the kitchen and walk over to where Dogath was sitting on the floor. Take a few more steps he would remove a chair from one of the tables and set his plate down before taking a second chair off of the table for Dogath. As he sat down he would look over at his companion. "Why don't you join me. I'm sure the chair will be more comfortable than the floor after all." Having grown up in Gerudo Fortress the boy was used to spending most of his time sitting on rocks, so any chance he had to sit down somewhere comfortable he took. Regardless of if Dogath joined him or not the young Hylian would start in on his morning meal. He was going to need the energy for the events of the day ahead.

Dogath grunted. "I prefer the floor, actually. We don't have chairs, where I'm from. Usually it's just a rock." That said, he had already scarfed down most of his meal, so he nevertheless moved to join Samanosuke. He set the basket down in front of him,, the note still unread. "The girl made this for you, apparently. It's filled with some cheese and dried fruit, which was considerate, seeing as it's at least a day's journey out." Dogath commented, having had peaked inside. Dogath felt the warmth of the sun begin to color his back: Yousef would be by soon, to collect them. For now, though, Dogath leaned back in his chair, enjoying the increasing warmth.

As Dogath spoke about sitting mainly on rocks Samanosuke couldn't help but laugh. "I know that feeling all to well. I grew up in Gerudo Fortress which is basically nothing more than sand and rocks. Don't get me wrong we had tables and chairs and beds, but with the influx of refugees there weren't enough there for awhile. The men and boys were the ones that gave them up for the women, and younger children." It wasn't exactly easy growing up in the Gerudo Fortress, but it had been worthwhile. Not every Hylian could say that they had received the ancient training of the Gerudo. Although quite a few more could say that these days than ever before.

Looking to the basket that had been set down on the table the boy would pick up the letter and unfold it as he continued to eat. He would read over it with a smile on his face before folding it up and tucking it away in the small pouch on his hip. While it wasn't one of those adventurers pouches, it was big enough to hold a few minor things. Currently all it held aside from the note were a few charms that the kids in the fortress had made for him before he left. Finishing his meal he would slide the plate away, and pull the basket closer so that he could take a peek himself. "So long as she doesn't get in trouble with that disagreeable inn keeper, I'll gladly accept it."

"Don't think she will. They hold no fondness for me, but you are one of them. The most she'll get is some grumbling, I'm sure." Dogath replied, looking towards the door expectantly. It was about time, judging by the growing light in the room. And right he was, as Yousef opened the door and strode in. The Hylian walked up to the two, smiling, though he clearly had not gotten much sleep the night before.

"Good to see the two of you awake, and already eating. Saves us some time. The men I brought with us are finishing up the last of our preparations. We'll be riding horseback most of the way there," he held up a hand towards Dogath, cutting off the Subrosian's interruption, "And before you complain, we're already hitching up a wagon to team for you to ride in. I haven't forgotten the last time you tried to ride a horse. Damn near broke its back, with that cannon of yours." Yousef shook his head, too tired to really laugh.

"I assume you'll be catching some sleep in the wagon, then." Dogath sighed in relief, glad to hear that Yousef had already made preparations for that. The man sorely needed some rest, though, before they headed into battle. Dogath wouldn't stand for having a man with sleep-blurred eyes covering his back. Yousef drew in a breath, as if in rebuttal, but apparently thought better of it.

"You're right. I'll need to be as alert as possible, when the time comes." he said in resignation. "What about you, Samanaosuke? We've got a horse bridled up for you, but you're welcome to join us in the wagon, if you prefer that."

"I do hope your right." Samanosuke would hate to be the cause of trouble for her after all. Well he did promise that he'd come back once they were done so he could always check them. It was then that Yousef walked in, the boy would greet him with a wave as he finished his meal. As Yousef started talking about past event Samanosuke would only look towards Dogath and his cannon. He didn't actually try to ride a horse while carrying that thing, did he? For that matter, how did HE carry that thing? Shaking the thoughts from his head, the young Hylian would give a nod to Yousef. "I think I'll join you in the wagon. Once you've caught up on your sleep it would give us a chance to discuss strategy after all." While Yousef and Dogath could handle the strategy meeting without him, he wanted to be present for the initial meeting so that he could ask questions and give input before something was already decided upon.
