    Name: Griskin
    Race: Moblin - Common Moblin
    Age: 12
    Gender: Male
    Place of Origin: Monster Village
    PWC: 4/3/1

    Treasures and Rupees:

    :roop: 10 Rupees

    Perks:
    Treasures:
    Equipment:

    • Moblin Spear - A traditional Moblin weapon. This one was hand-crafted by Griskin's father. The Spear tip is made from a blade trap.
    • Stalfos Tasset - The only piece of armour Griskin possesses. It's a blue, cloth tasset on loan from a Stalfos friend in Monster Village.
    • Homely Armband - Before Griskin left the Monster Village, a neighbouring Goriya wove for him this crude armband. The band depicts different monster kinds spread along a grid pattern. The figures are barely recognisable, the armband comes off as quite tacky.
    Pet - Grudd the Octorok:

Grudd is a blue Octorok with an ever-absent look in its eye. It mindlessly follows Griskin into pits and across land but will immediately attack anyone else, regardless of how familiar they are or whether they have a relationship with Griskin. Like the rest of its kin, Grudd shoots rocks at things it finds threatening. It moves about erratically and fires spontaneously, making it difficult to predict Grudd's next projectile.

Grudd's loyalty to Griskin is a wonder. It might be the Moblin's general love of monsters that the Octorok finds appealing. Or perhaps it's the funny smell which keeps Grudd following behind.

    Appearance:

Griskin has the face of a boar, little tusks poke out between his lips and flapping ears dangle down the sides of his head. He has sickly green flesh covering a portly figure. Piggish legs end with cleft, swine hooves. Griskin is taller than most Hylians, but a little bit shorter than the majority of his own kind.

Contrary to his fearsome appearance, Griskin's demeanour suggests warmth and friendliness. One glance towards his curious smile will be sure to confuse any oncoming attacker who has heard a tale of dreadful Moblin beasts.

The Moblin wears a blue tasset, and an armband, but otherwise he is naked. Such is the way of the Moblin, unfortunately.

    Personality:

Griskin was brought up in a slightly more civilized society than most of his kind, and therefore he lacks the typical Moblin mindset. He has a gentle nature, easily finding friends in monsters he meets, willing to lend his mind and ears to others who might need something to speak into. Griskin is inquisitive, rather unlike his ancestors. He's particularly interested in the cultures of the Hylians, Zora, and the like. He wants monsters to find their own culture again, and thus wishes to learn more by delving into the societies around him. Contrasting his species, Griskin travels Hyrule not to maim or steal, but to learn and discover. However, this Moblin has not gone unprepared into the world. He's aware of the struggles he must face with the features of a monster. While he prefers not to fight people, he will defend himself savagely.

Griskin loves all things related to monsters. He will aim for treasures specifically based on monsters, and try to talk to any monster he meets on his adventures.

Despite Griskin's positive nature, he is not an optimist. Griskin believes Hyrule will never be at peace, but that doesn't mean life couldn't be any better for the astray monsterkind. He doesn't seem to harbour any ill thought towards Ganon either, having no opinion on the former masters of his family. He is essentially neutral.

    Background:

Griskin's mother and father were Moblins of fearsome repute. His mother, Porla, was a raider living on the outskirts of the Lost Woods. Krunch, his father, patrolled a labyrinthine dungeon far beneath the sun and sky over Hyrule. After a short, strange mingling of paths, Porla and Krunch retired together to Monster Village and raised a litter of Moblin children. Griskin's siblings have all moved on before him, each of them left home to become mercenaries and thieves like their parents before them. Griskin, however, remained at home even two years into adulthood.

Griskin's interest was always scattered amongst the characters of Monster Village. There was nothing which could please the boar-beast more than sitting with Granny Goriya, or chasing Lizalfos into the crooks and alleys of the town. But they all ended up the same as his siblings. The children of monsters left to follow their blood and perpetuate terror throughout the land; to prove their might and worth for their ancestry.

When this truth was revealed, Griskin saw the cycle of meaningless death for glory. Monsters sending themselves out to be slain by men, because they saw no other purpose in life. Only those who remained in Monster Village sought something more, but what were a few dozen, or even a hundred compared to the thousands of trickling grains seeping through the hourglass of insignificance?

So, Griskin decided to leave the village too. His brothers and sisters before had left to find their place amongst forgotten, nameless creatures in time, but his journey would be a different one. Griskin's love for monsterkind gave him no choice but to seek an alternative, a better life than to die. He wanted to see what was different about Hylians. Why do they record history? Or write books? Why do they act the way they do? Could they understand the life of monsters? Griskin knew the answers to these would give him the key to true civility. Whether his kin would listen to him, or continue in the circle of war, he had to at least try.

Taking his father's spear for protection, Griskin left Monster Village as an ambassador for his race. Ever a friend to the monsters on his path, gifts from his menacing friends were sprinkled into his little exodus. ChuChu gave him the power to call for their gooey clan should the Moblin find himself endangered, Granny Goriya weaved a familiar armband to put around his left arm, and perhaps the strangest gift was given to Griskin by the mountains. A blue Octorok descended from the rocky peaks to vigilantly escort Griskin through the rough terrain and into the wilds of Southern Hyrule. A loyal friend was a prize most necessary for a sensitive pig-monster.

And so, Griskin set off on his quest for knowledge, accompanied by an Octorok and the odd gifts of the feared races. The horizon over South Hyrule promised blood and mire, as well as a daring hope. Electric excitement ran along the nerves of a monster. A monster in search of understanding. A monster seeking to be understood.
