Gripskin is the leather of a particular lizard related in a specific way known only to the masters of the tanning craft, but it is a very handy material nonetheless. It feels barely rougher than smooth leather when finished, and degrades in quality at a slower pace than most leathers. When used to bind the handle/hilt of a weapon or shield, the weapon will not fall out of its wielder's grip unless specifically dropped by the wielder or forcibly removed from the wielder's hand. When applied to gloves or boots, they allow for greater friction, especially with organic surfaces, allowing one so bedecked to climb a single, smooth vine as easily as if they were climbing a ladder. When used to like the inside of armour or clothing, said outfit will cling tightly, but comfortably to the wearer's skin, allowing a greater range of movement and no 'hems' sticking out at which to tug. The wearer can remove the articles normally, but someone trying to forcibly remove the clothing would have to either cut it open or tear almost hard enough to rip the wearer's skin. Edit: Adding a seed version for it. Burrseed [material] A nut roughly the size and weight of a Deku Nut, covered in a soft fuzz, when thrown ontoor attached to an organic surface, the seed hooks on with tiny little burrs and remains in position unless ripped off with enough force to break the skin, and thus, the burrs. For some reason, the initial user's skin is immune to these effects. ((Not quite sure how to run this mechanically vs. Thematically but botanists can grow supplies or make Gripskin from enough of them))
I enjoyed reading this material. Do you have a suggested price point? If not, it'll probably be around 10r.
Burrseeds can be emulated entirely by Seed Effects Botanists can already use. Even just the combination of a Deku Nut's Caltrops and Sap seed effects would yield practically the same result as several burrseeds. Scent Seeds also have the "Barbed" seed effect to emulate barbs. Razor Seed even has the Needle seed effect if you only want particularly sharp seeds. (Additionally, seeds are intended affect all creatures the same, and ideally are not biased towards the user like spells or fancier treasures can be.) That said, Gripskin itself is pretty interesting. How does this look?
