An annual occasion across Hyrule, the day is a momentous one for celebration. It is one known by many names- Lover's Day, Festival of Unison, Pal Play Parade, and by its most common name, the Day of the Halved Stone. It is a special day dedicated to the bonds between people, a holiday to celebrate the unity and companionship one shares with others. There are countless ways the Day of the Halved Stone is celebrated, whether with loud, public fervor or silently in private. Many lovers exchange valuable charms or see that they are wed on the Day of the Halved Stone; brothers, whether so through blood or sweat, reaffirm and tighten their bonds; rivals seek out heightened challenges with one another; performers hold wide shows that tend to promote interactivity with their audiences; neighborhoods and towns hold festivals far and wide to promote their individual communities, such as one where individuals gather into groups of four and wear matching costumes that differ only in hue; enemies set their differences aside to see a sense of peace for this day only; rich nobles host bountiful feasts and in typically surprising fits of generosity, share their wealth with the commonfolk; the mischievous Minish work extra hard to hide kinstones in particularly easy to find locations, especially for those without their own stone to fuse.

A particularly favored ritual, which it gets its most common namesake from, is to exchange kinstones with one's peers. Some are known to hold onto their kinstones for months in preparation, and common superstition is held across all creeds that those who fuse kinstones on this day are particularly fortunate in their results.

    --

It's time for the annual Day of the Halved Stone! Each player may post in this thread, whether with an in-character or out-of-character post, with up to two of their characters. Each character submitted will obtain a Kinstone Piece, randomly decided by staff at the end of the event.

This event will be open for entry for exactly two weeks, and will be closed at the end of the month, on February 28th, after which characters will have the chance to find the other half of their kinstone piece.

Pooky sat at his castle town stall, cheap paper greeting cards and candies were flying right off his shelves. He licked his lips. He was waiting for a certain person to show up so that he could man the stall and go to enjoy the festivities himself. Pooky filled his slotted chest with another handful of rupees. It was getting tiring to keep handing things over the table at such absurd speeds. Finally, his replacement arrived. In a glowing flash behind the dark corners of the winding street, a blank-looking Evelyn showed up wearing a plain blue apron and a paper hat. The outfit was covered in logos and advertisements for Pooky Mart.

Pooky snickered, re-adjusting his sash on his neck. The festival was going off without a hitch. He quickly hobbled off into the town square where everything was set up. It was quite a long walk because of how back-alley his stall was in regards to the city center. Pooky made his way to a huge, meticulously set up stage. He went behind the scenes for a strangely long amount of time, shaking hands with amateur actors and kids. Was it some kind of play?

Pooky reappeared at the center of the stage fully dressed as Princess Zelda. The crowd cheered on the Miniblin as he began to recite poetry at the top of his lungs. To onlookers, it seemed legitimate. He really wasn't up to anything this time. An old man waddled out from behind the stage dressed as the King. He started pointing his finger at Pooky and began to list off an absurdly long amount of things the princess was not allowed to do. That's our King!

It was finally Kinstone day. Evelyn had never had a real crush on anyone before, and to be entirely fair not too many Kokiri had such complicated feelings. But she saw something else when she closed her eyes, beautiful, glorious rupees. She had made an agreement with an odd group of people to try to make some cold hard roop today. Her carriage was let off at the gates of Castle Town. It sure was awkward sitting next to that Lizalfos wearing an animal skull and listening to him for the whole ride talking about animal handling and care. Eve never knew she could ever learn so much about taking care of cows in one sitting.

She first made her way to the back-alleys of Castle Town and prepared her Transform Ego spell behind a convenient corner. In a flash, an Eve in a blue apron appeared and went to sit down at a merchant's stall. She saw out of the corner of her eye a weirdly familiar Miniblin running off into town. She tried to dismiss the similarity, maybe there was an entire group of weirdly pink and excitable Miniblins.

Eve made her way to the town square, she kept thinking about the possibility of Wollo showing up. That would really make her day. For some reason, she also thought about the Kokiri in the Red outfit. What was his name? He was kind of detestable but she felt like she would feel left out of the festivities if that guy didn't show up. On some level she was finally starting to feel like his friend. Something red did catch her eye for just a moment. She looked up with a massive smile on her face.

"OH SHIIIIT!" a voice screamed from the other direction.

A muscular man had just dropped a massive, priceless Moon Pearl. It rocketed through the air as it slipped out of his grip. The rock flew up like an errant bowling ball and fell squarely into Eve's face. She was knocked into a dizzy trance but she seemed to be fine, minus the golden eye rolling away down the street.

Leo would find himself sitting on a wooden crate in a corner of one of the alleyway's in Hyrule Castle town. He had never really been interested in Lover's Day, he already a social outcast, a day of people being even stranger and hard to understand would do nothing but hinder the young Rito. However he was getting pretty lonely just traveling around on his own, so when he discovered the festivities going on, he decided to touch down and see what was going on. Luckily he had worn his nice clothes today, wearing a sleeveless black shirt with a large Skulltula design on the front of it and a pair of jet black pant's that covered most of his talons. He sat back and watched as people walked by.

And just like that, you stumble upon one of the Minish’ gifts: one half of a Kinstone!
    • Pooky finds his piece in a particularly hard bite of his sandwich: one half of a gold rupee kinstone.
    • Evelyn finds hers perfectly placed in her hand after she blinks, as if it was always there: a piece of a red rupee kinstone.
    • For Ruairi, he discovers one half of a red rupee kinstone as he flips open his make-up case.
    • While buzzing around town, Buzzari uncovers half of a blue triforce under a large leaf.
    • Guy finds his at the bottom of an empty chest, a red clover piece instead of promising treasure…?
    • Nicholas is rewarded with half of a red clover kinstone after a lengthy search in a bush.
    • Kalvar finds his half- of a blue feather kinstone- tucked away in his luggage as he stops for a break.
    • Viorla finds an unfamiliar shard amongst the shards of a broken pot: a piece of a red clover kinstone.
    • On pulling on his boot, Lamont finds it already filled with half a kinstone: a violet rupee one.
    • Fion finds a blue clover piece in a packet of pilfered snacks, taken from an unguarded market stall.
    • After investigating a strange glint, Leo finds his piece of a blue triforce kinstone tucked away in the branches of a tall tree.
    • Judith, upon opening a large tome, has one half of a red clover kinstone, quite literally drop into her lap.
    • As the snow melts away around Kaaldira’s feet, one half of a blue clover kinstone is revealed!
    • Yuku finds her half of a violet rupee kinstone wedged between rocks on the banks of a river.
    • Mysteriously enough, Ulivali wakes up with half a blue crown kinstone next to his head.
    • Unlucky Rika gets half a golden rupee kinstone unceremoniously dropped on his head, right from the open sky.
    • Bell hears something rattling around in her helmet as she picks it up, discovering a piece of a blue feather kinstone.
Now, as you can see, everyone’s other half is amongst the participants! Go forth and find the missing half of your stones! To fuse them, you may post fusing threads in any of the Hyrule boards, with the [KINSTONE] tag in the title. Unlike full threads, kinstone fusing threads only need a few posts to be completed. Once your stones are ready to be fused, please alert a higher power, and the mysterious Kinstone Keeper might appear...

In case your other half is hard to find… The Holiday Moblin is rumoured to be an avid collector of kinstones, and may have some unfused pieces at his kissing booth in Castle Town’s market square.
