It had been a short time since Rika entered the recently formed mountains that seemed to appear out of nowhere, releasing the cold that had been enveloping Hyrule. What was Rika doing here, however? When he had first heard of the weather pouring in, he departed from Impa as soon as he could to investigate. After all, this was a major phenomenon, one he would want to discover and learn about. However, by the time he left, the storm had started to hit Impa. As such, his travels were slowed, becoming even slower as the storm picked up, due to having to take slower routes and more frequent pauses.

Eventually, Rika managed to reach the Northern Hills, the site of the event that had put Hyrule into an almost comatose state. Just in time, too, as the storm was starting to get even worse. If he had to travel further to reach the mountain's caves, it would be almost impossible to reach it. The kind folks at Lon Lon Ranch were nice enough to provide him with additional clothing to explore the Northern Hills. Of course, Rika already wore a lot of clothing, so he didn't need too much. Although his current clothing wasn't perfect, it would serve just fine for the harsh conditions with the help of a couple extra necessities, such as a scarf. Rika was given earmuffs, but they would simply make it difficult to battle, so he kept his ears snug against the scarf for warmth.

Now then, where to start? Rika's plan was to explore this mountain and discover the cause of the cold. He was very interested in what sort of power could actually cause this, along with looking to stop it. After all, many, many people were dying because of it. Who knows, he might even find something nice along the way. The mountain was rather large, however, exploring it would take some time. . . Of course, he could hear a fairly muffled roaring from. . . somewhere outside. Where was that coming from? Perhaps, that could be his first stop towards searching for a way to stop this mysterious event.

The dust began to clear. Eve rolled onto the brown grass of the cemetery. An old couple visiting the display of losses from Ganon's invasion had been reflecting on their lost, loved veterans had been quaking in awe as they noticed a girl explode out of a tomb. They quietly watched as the ghost dragged away a large weapon without acknowledging their presence.

"Boy, Frank, did you see that? We should get out of here." the woman suggested to the man.

The sun beat down on the cemetery, and Eve faded from their sight into a mirage. A thick wood blocked off the cemetery from the field, making it a safe haven from Ganon's armies. Aside from the stray ghost monstrosity, of course. A dusty dirt road led out of the cemetery. Eve slunk down the path with an aimless lethargy.

Soon she happened upon the sound of a confrontation. About half a field's distance away from her down the road she spotted the cause. It was hard to make out, but it looked like a group of hostiles cornering two figures. It seemed while the cemetery was in an area isolated from Ganon, there were still dangerous creatures beyond his command in this zone. Eve stepped up her pace to get a clear view. About three Keaton Bandits had what appeared to be a couple of clowns surrounded and backed into a tree trunk.

She recognized this as an old fashioned case of highway robbery. Put a blade to their neck, get everything in their pockets. Not while I'm around. Eve interjected mentally. Anything they had may as well belong to her, she figured. The entire scene of one party demanding something from another, was going to be completely pointless now that she arrived. With their backs turned to the road, Eve jogged in for an opening hit.

With a twist of her ankle, she spun on her heel and muscled her mallet into the still air. The toss left the weapon spinning in the air, it gyrated fiercely through one of the bandits. The weapon then ended its trajectory arc by tumbling into a second bandit. The third bandit yelped and faced the attacker. Observably furious, he snarled and approached her.

"What brings you to interrupt us? Can't you see we're busy here?" the bandit growled furiously down to the obscured figure.

"You pick your jobs, and I'll pick mine, business is business." the girl answered without much hesitation.

She lunged at the highwayman, slipping her hand around his neck. A wicked flame sparked up around her forearm. The quick fighter bludgeoned her shoulder with the hilt of his large blade. Eve thumped to the dirt road and rolled into a snow bank. She groaned as a soreness peaked where she was hit. But why was there snow here? Eve recalled that she was pretty far south, where snow rarely fell. Much less would a storm come to pile snow quite this high. Something was up.

The Keaton Bandit followed her to the side of the road, planning to do much worse. His cohort rose, recovering from the secondary blow from the flying mallet. Luckily for the clowns, Eve had made it out alive through much worse situations.

"Comrades, attack!" Eve shouted wildly out of nowhere.

Thinking at once that they were about to be ambushed, the Keatons turned their backs on Eve. They did not have the foreknowledge to know that Eve was too sociopathic to have a group of ready comrades in the woods, much less actually smart enough to time their attack to the very moment. She made a beeline to her weapon and picked it up, just as the bandits managed to notice that they were in fact not being pinned with arrows nor surrounded by opposition from all sides.

"Maybe we should get out of here." the wounded Keaton suggested to the other.

"Fool! There's nobody but that girl here! Bleed her out!" the other berated his gullible associate.

The clowns continued to shiver and hold one another next to the tree.

Eve clashed arms with the slightly hurt bandit. His blade slipped against the shaft of the mallet and the girl pushed him away with a light blow. He stepped back, hoping to recover and let his partner stop her. The other stepped in and initiated a swing at the girl. She tried to block this one as well, succeeding by an inch as the blade ricocheted off the head of her weapon. With a continuation of her movement, she dropped the head on his foot. The bandit hissed in pain and shuddered away. He held his foot on the ground and rocked in the curled position to try to ease the pain.

"Eh, boss? Ya wanna back out of this deal?" the other offered again.

"Shut it you dolt, we gotta filet this kid!" he shouted back at his partner with a solid echo of pain in his voice.

The weak bandit motioned to attack again. Eve pulled down her cowl and shot him a glance. He fidgeted and stopped on the spot. A glint of reflection off of her eyes sent a chill down his spine. He was filled with all sorts of wonders. He hesitated more as he wondered what she was planning to do with them. She seemed to suddenly not care about his range from her.

"What are you doing? I-I'm right here!" the Keaton shouted nervously.

He watched Eve walk to the side of the road. She abruptly dropped her weapon and hunched over a snow drift. Suddenly calmed a bit, the Keaton stepped forward to chase her. She began to lift a large clump of white. She lifted the round clump high over her head with both of her arms. The confident Keaton became distracted from his throbbing foot. He burst out in laughter.

"Ahaha! Why would you use a snowba-" he started snickering right before getting interrupted.

The white mass spiraled through the air like a football. It was quickly dusted off as it collided with the attacking Keaton before he could step backwards. What was now clearly a boulder crashed through his head, bowling him to the ground. The boulder split as its surface area slapped against the frozen dirt of the road.

The remaining Keaton squawked with surprise. He could take the girl on, he assumed. Though now he resolved that he shouldn't take his chances. Without the confidence of outnumbering, there wasn't much reason left for him to stay. He scoffed and turned to leave. The Keaton limped away with feelings of revenge dancing on his mind.

Eve covered her mouth with her palm outward and began to laugh. "Ohohoho!" She put her cowl back over her forehead and dragged her mallet tiresomely over to the clowns. They acknowledged that it was safe again upon the sudden quietness and ceased whimpering. The clowns hopped up and down in joy as the girl approached. Her face fixed on them with a pure ambition. Whatever they were being robbed of would soon be hers.

"Speak fools, what do you have that the beasties wanted?" she asked softly as they continued to hop in delight.

"Oh, you sure saved us missy! Our hides are complete because of you! Thank you graciously, heroine!" the shorter of the two exclaimed.

"We are indebted to you, mmyess!" the taller clown clapped. "But we didn't have a single valuable besides our clothes when they stopped us. We were sure they'd do such grotesque things to us two, mmyess!" He wiggled his head and snapped a few times.

Eve balled a fist and seethed. She wished she had been passive enough to not get involved at all. They seemed to have money though, their elaborate colorful clothes spoke for their wealth. She just had to convince them that they owed her, and she'd get something out of the incident. They were surely delightful enough. Supposing they led her to something good she would have to refrain from killing them.

She replied to their celebrations "Hold on, amusement peddlers. What might you have in store for me, now that I have made your lives continue?" She gesticulated by waving her bottled fairy at their faces while she spoke.

The pair of entertainers gestured her to follow them to their establishment. They made much noise and merriment over their perseverance through the ordeal. Eve could not fathom whether they were always this hyperactive or if it was merely situational. They danced around her as she walked in their intended direction. They took her far down the road to a large clearing.

In the center of the clearing was a wide, brightly colorful platform dusted with snow. Walking onto it, Eve quickly noticed that the entire thing was spongy enough to absorb a surprising fraction of her leg. She soon discovered that the entire thing was a massive target with scores painted on each segment. The bull's eye portion was dimpled, whatever rested in the center was what the clowns were leading her to.

"We spent the whole morning sweeping the snow off. This is our pride and joy!" the short clown explained. "Ver-i-ly! Our precious little baby, softer than a peach!" the taller sang.

The center approached less soon than Eve expected. How did they even get this much fluff? The girl finally was able to spot a round shape protruding from the central hole. The clowns stood about the center and beamed at the shape in the center.

"Rejoice! This is our Happy Happy Plummeting Free-fall game! Into the Happy Happy Cannon you may go!" the short clown explained. "Sensational. Soar through the air, and you collect fabulous prizes on your way down from our fantastic Carrier-Guays! Wiggle that little bottom on down, mmyess. When you bounce on our beauteous Happy Happy Target, the score will determine your bonus prize." the taller clown winked while he said the latter line. "That will be twenty rupees for your game."

Not only had Eve come without any money, but she still expected them to at least give her the first game for free. The girl stomped up and down on the bouncy material furiously.

"Don't you give me that crap! I saved your lives you ungrateful charlatans!" she spat at the suddenly cold and still clowns. "First ride's free, or I fire you both at each other until you break!"

Eve bounced her hammer into the cannon and hopped in with it. The clowns nervously cranked a pair of levers around the cannon. The barrel slowly ascended out of the hole as music played merrily. As the music climaxed, numerous mechanisms could be heard below clanking and cracking against each other. In a manner not unlike "Pop Goes the Weasel," the music stopped. A violent whirring resounded from below. In an instant the cannon boomed and flung the girl skyward. All that could be seen of her was an angry green blur. She hugged the pole of her weapon, riding it like a vehicle upward. It was at the startling realization that she had brought the thing that she noticed she wouldn't be able to steer her body down while holding the thing.

Eve rocketed through the air at a painful velocity. She snapped through some of the Guays on the way up, which comedically feathered her when they slapped against her clothes. Since she was holding on for dear life, she couldn't be bothered to snatch the rupees as she collided with them. Finally, she reached the arc of her trip. She began to descend once she had a spectator's angle on the clouds. Once Eve was able to breathe again, the air was too thin to take much of a breath. Then something plowed abruptly into her. A large flying mass caught her up and moved her at high speed.

The sky was fairly clear enough where Eve was to see the terrain below. She looked down to see that there was progressively more and more snow as the land went north. She turned her head to see what had hit her. I appeared she was being sucked onto the moist leathery surface of some sort of huge whale. As it flew mysteriously forward, the velocity kept her from moving anywhere off of the nose.

Quickly the air of the winter froze her stiff to the face of the monstrosity. It flew northward for hours, leaving the girl only to think about the chill. Finally the beast descended, diving through grey clouds seeded with crystalline flakes. Eve briefly opened her eyes. She could only barely make out the shape of a white field and mountain range. Slowly they fell more, until they were about fifty feet above the face of a large mountain. The creature did a swift barrel roll. Eve was tossed off.

A snow drift caught the falling girl. She rolled to a stop not four feet from a ledge. After recovering from the flight, she managed to prop herself up. She knew she had to find someplace warm before the prolonged cold would kill her. She spotted an indentation in the stone. It was difficult to see through the falling snow. Since she was walking in that direction, the hole seemed to reveal itself. Into the crevice she hopped, hoping fully to avoid the storm.

The winter months have flown off the calender as he was working in Impa to try to ensure it's domestic growth. But the sudden snow that blanketed everything was too much for Sec to just sit idly by. It typically didn't get this cold in Hyrule, little on have snow raining down for months. Sexton and Rika decided to embark on an investigation. The green clad explorer and his little companion deduced that he should travel north, toward the Northern Hills. He caught word in the local pub over a brew that there had been many people exploring around there that came up missing.

It took them a while to trek that far in the cold but they finally got there a few days later after spending nights at local villages that were gracious enough to accept him. He began to hear more and more about this terrible storm and how it started. Apparently the ideas have been skewed from an eruption similar to a volcano from the Northern Hills to a foul monster flying through the sky breathing icy breath to spread this storm. The closer he got to the Northern Hills the more he could hear the dead silence of winter, he almost missed the wild noises from the busy town's that once annoyed him.

Sometime between the last nights rest, and the Northern Hills Rika and Sec got separated in the fierce blizzard that was blazing. Sec was now more worried about finding his companion than discovering the reason why the Goddesses cursed us with such a cold winter. He judged from Rika's personality that he would continue to pursue the cause of the winter, despite being unsupervised. Thus led Sec to take his first steps onto the blatantly misnamed, Northern Hills.

Brushing his hand against the cavern walls, Rika could feel the cold, hard dirt over his gloves. The texture was somewhat rough, whether due to the temperature or something else entirely. Stopping to examine the area around him, the way he had come was essentially just a long tunnel, with any sort of end or turn not in sight. The direction ahead was mostly the same, however, it seemed to go downward at a slope instead of straight. Letting out a sigh, Rika slowly proceeded down the slope. It seemed to get steadily steeper as he continued, eventually to the point where it became difficult for Rika to walk upright on it. Soon, he started sliding; Ice had started covering the slope. The slope didn't last very much longer, and Rika was now at the bottom of the long slope, the ground covered with thick looking ice.

Slowly standing up, Rika slowly moved towards the wall, using it as a grip to help him walk across the slippery ice. Looking at what was ahead of him, a large opening to the outside was ahead. Seeing as he couldn't climb back up, Rika slowly moved outside, the terrain quickly changing. The slippery ice floors were now rocky grounds covered with snow. Outside of the cave opening was a wide ledge, which seemed capable of holding a couple people; Rika could easily fit. Furthermore, although the blowing and whistling of the winds and blizzard was somewhat loud, Rika could hear the noise he previously heard much more potently now.

Looking into the sky, there was a faint blur, but it was indistinguishable beyond the heavy snowfall. It swiftly seemed to vanish into thin air, and the roaring seemed to start becoming quieter, too. "What was that? . . . I could take a guess, and it's probably better I didn't find out. Rika quizzed to himself. He knew dragons generally lived higher on mountain tops, so he assumed it was probably something of that sort. What he didn't know was that it was far more dangerous than a normal dragon would be. Glancing to the side, Rika could see a somewhat stable, if rather rough pathway upward. If anything would actually be up there was a different story, however.

The relative warmth of the cave seared against the chilled flesh. Eve was a cake frosted with pain. She clamored about, shouting with every step she took and clunking her weapon to the stone floor. The cave was surprisingly spacious and was lined with beautiful rock formations, mostly stalactites. Her eyes reflected and scattered the dim light with the sneaky malevolence of a hunting cat. Sneaky it would be, if not for the repetitive clunking of her every footstep and disgusted growl she uttered when her aching flesh rubbed even slightly against her clothing.

There was a sudden slap against a rock wall next to Eve. The crack echoed throughout the cave, dangerously vibrating the old and worn mountain interior. The girl peered into the dimness and watched a small object ricochet from the wall and back into the dark. There was a long and bellowing battle-cry from what may have been less than fifty feet away. A ripping snarl came from the shadows as the object bolted back at her. A dense boomerang clattered into her weapon, and bounced into her shoulder. She shrieked curses while the weapon slid back into the dark.

A beast with a rat-like face and whiskers emerged into her range of vision. The Goriya hissed in her direction, as if to let her know it wanted her as his meal. "You'll find that when it comes to tasting great, I am simply the worst there is." Eve groaned at the monster. "Taste like any meat and I'll have you, hiker. I have been here much too long." He squeaked at her, notably aggravated.

He sidestepped as she swiped her mallet at him in a boiling rage. A bright spark lit up the cave when her weapon shattered a piece of the stone floor. Adrenaline took over and she followed up by swinging upward. The Goriya had swiped at her with his boomerang, and their weapons collided. There was a rumbling in the cave, the two met eyes. Eve was unable to dissuade him with her glare, he was much too hardened to succumb to fear. The air fizzled on their skin, a brisk wind surged from the cave entrance. Eve scowled from ear-to-ear. She dropped her weapon on his foot and punched him in the gut. The Goriya fell on his rear and began to cringe and seethe.

"An' that's what you get yeh corn-thief brussel-mongler!" Eve insulted(?) the Goriya before departing further into the cave.

Many might have wished upon a star in hopes that the Northern Hills would become a winter wonderland. But the current blizzard that is raging through Hyrule is a great example of too much of a good thing is disastrous. This wasn't even close to a winter wonderland anymore. Slowly as the snow piled up it became nothing more than a winter wasteland.

Sec began to shout and scream as he disappeared into the snow. He was frightened that something grabbed him and held him under the snow, but instead he just fell into the entrance of a small cave. The snow was so tightly packed together that it was invisible to the naked eye until enough pressure broke the snows grip on each other. He began to slide down what appeared to be a tube, no doubt it was some kind of burrow of something nasty. Luckily the normal rocky ground was covered in smooth ice, though cold to the touch made for a less bumpy ride.

Sec landed with a poof on the cold stone floor butt first. He picked himself up off of the ground and dusted himself off as he gazed at a marvelous cave with several different holes all leading to different parts of the cave. He had wondered if Rika was somewhere in here. The logical thing to do in this kind of weather would have been to find shelter and if he found another entrance maybe they were inter weaved together.

Sec began to feel the ground move ever so slightly as a giant bug emerged, eating the ground that it was burrowing through. It is safe to say that Sec found what made that burrow he fell in. He began to run through the nearest burrow that he could find to get away, not even realizing how much larger this new burrow was. Probably for the best if he knew these things got bigger he'd probably piss himself. Sec ran crazily through the hole screaming in terror.

Checking the pathway to ascertain it's stability, Rika slowly continued upward, careful not to accidentally slip or that the ground below him didn't break. Although Rika couldn't see very far ahead, he could see a small opening further ahead. Although he may have to crouch, he could easily fit in the hole. As he reached the hole, there didn't seem to be much inside, but it went deeper. Carefully crawling inside, Rika went deeper into the cave. It turned somewhat, and went up and down. However, it seemed to mostly be going left. Eventually, Rika reached an end, as the small tunnel-like hole exited into a large cavern room.

Floating in the room were two small, blue jellyfish-like creatures; Bari. Upon noticing Rika, they released a small but violet electrical surge from their bodies, as it temporarily enveloped them before ending. "These, huh? I don't see why they're in a mountain, that's really odd. . . This is making less and less sense." Withdrawing his scythe, Rika spun it around once or twice, ending with the point towards the top. The jellyfish slowly floated in place due to their lack of mobility, electricity slowly surging throughout their body. Waiting and waiting. . .

As the electrical surges ended, Rika took the opening to rush forward, gripping his spear. Thrusting forward as he got near, Rika easily pierced the gelatinous exterior, his scythe's end piercing through to the other side. Easy kill, right? Before Rika could do anything, the pierced jellyfish seemed to break up from the hole in it's body, forming two much smaller jellyfish, Biri. The two floated next to the scythe, both of their bodies being swarmed with electricity. Rika felt a somewhat weak, but still tangible shock sweep over his scythe and body, the Kokiri instantly dropping the scythe to sever their connection to him. Although the connection was cut short, Rika felt his hand jolt slightly, due to the electrical currents. Meanwhile, all he could think was, "Why did they split up?! The blue species of Bari are known for not having the ability to split into two smaller Biri, compared to the red ones. That caught me off guard, but I'll expect it with the other one."

Taking a moment for his sense to return to normal, Rika held his palm forward. Flames started swirling at the point in front of his hand, forming a glowing ball of fire. Firing forward, the ball slammed into the whole jellyfish, tearing through it. The fireball was large enough that the Biri didn't have a chance to replicate itself as it was burned and ripped apart by the ball. The two smaller ones would normally be more difficult to hit, however.

Moving back so as to not get wet and holding another arm forward, a ball of water started growing from it, as it slowly moved forward, before violently exploding in a blast of water. The bodies of the jellyfish were essentially annihilated by the Aqua Grenade spell. Bending over and picking his scythe up, Rika looked over towards the rest of the room. There was a small hallway of sorts near him, but Rika could see the blizzard outside from the room. What was awaiting him there. . . ?

The cave quaked and rumbled like they chained up King Kong and put him in the base of the range. The noise of the last fight attracted a swarm of monsters to cavern Eve was in. The surface dropped off like a cliff face, cut away by a small stream from another part of the mountain. She crashed her hammer into a Chu-Chu, what followed was a boom and a crack. Some nearby Pol's Voices curled up in fright as she slapped swing after swing into Chu-Chus, Stalfos, and the occasional Hardhat Beetle. She would have to bat the beetles off the cliff side as so many of them came. An impatient Stalfos removed his head and tossed it at her. The skull whacked her violently and ruined her balance. She retreated to the wall of the cavern as they made a push during her vulnerability.

She was cornered against the wall, but this proved to not be a problem. She wrenched up a Pol's Voice by the ears and tossed it like a loaded Santa-sack at the group. Two Stalfos and a Chu-Chu were bowled over by the stunned monster, which then rolled off the ledge into the chasm. She slammed her boot into the aft-end of another Pol's Voice. This one rolled similarly into a group of skeletal aggressors. There was a snap as bones shattered at the base of the chasm. With the resulting magnified echo, a collection of icicles from above broke off and barraged Eve from above. She was caught off guard from the drizzle, and slightly scraped by the edges of the falling ice. She let loose a sickened shout at the non-existent enemy. She didn't know why nature hated her, but she wasn't just going to let it touch her that way.

A roar thundered through the cave. As she plowed through the remaining monsters, a Stalfos soon found itself fused with a Chu-Chu. Eve struck the floor wildly with her weapon, mostly to vent. But what occurred because of this wasn't really what she planned. A much more thin slab of stone she had wandered onto began to crumble. She was dropped abruptly into the opening where the stream below passed through. The stone slabs threw her into the water as they slid off the incline. She disappeared into the black liquid, which trickled softly away.
