Ignoring the imminent threat of violence Eve was trying to push on the party, Rika looked down at his cake. It looked pretty tasty, but with Pooky in mind nothing was ever certain. He had been through more than enough today, though, and was far past the point over treading caution over a dessert. With no hesitation, Rika took a big bite of the cake, and it was... delicious! A burnt, crisp chocolate-y outside, with a soft, cake-like dough-y interior filled with gooey chocolate. It was a chocolate lover's dream. It was Rika's dream. Maybe Pooky wasn't so bad- for now.

"How in the hells did you make this, Pooky? It's... delicious!" He exclaimed, the child-like innocence flashing through his dickheaded demeanor for a moment. Then he pulled a cheesecake out of his sack. Perhaps there was an upside to Pooky after all. "Profits, huh? Is someone paying you for catering- actually, wait, how did you even hear about the party? I am fairly certain the planning for it started an hour or two ago." His eyes narrowed at Pooky suspiciously. His concern wasn't that Pooky was up to something malicious now, though- it was that word was spreading and even more people were going to be showing up.

    ...

"Nutrition, gooood. You Must grow big, like your house, Eeve." Cenea fluttered in front of her, uncomfortably close to her Chu-Chu pudding. She looked over at Getselle- not that Eve could really tell what with her miniscule form, unless she was looking very closely. "Is that Child your ffffriend too?"

Wollo thought Eve was saying something a little scary. If he was eating fairies, though, that was bad, right? The fairies were Wollo's friend. He must not have been a very good friend, then. "Uhhh... Eve protecting friend... Eve good friend." Wollo nodded. One of the Mad Scrubs dashed over, carrying a tray of fancy looking pastries and meats. "Present, Commander Wollo, sir! I have secured the best of the best at the snack bar for Commander Wollo, sir! Forgive my delay, the Kokiri are like mad dogs, sir! I accept any punishment Commander Wollo, sir deems fit, even death, sir!" It saluted with its stubby arms.

"Uhh... Thank." Was all Wollo said.

"Ah, first cadet Eve, so good to see you again! Please to serve Commander Wollo, sir with this party in his honor for slaying the evil wizard! It brings me the utmost pride to serve in the Scrubs n' Scouts Bridge!" The Mad Scrub nodded to the girl who probably did not remember who he was.

"Pooky has his secrets." he explained cautiously. "Pooky stayed in the village because he was bored."

He was cunning though, as he had not particularly mentioned whether he had spent his time in the village baking or had found some way to buy the desserts off a group of baker Kokiri. The odds favored Pooky having done the baking himself as Kokiri in this neighborhood were known more for their cookies. What likely really happened, is that he had the supplies on hand to make such a thing, bought on the cheap for such an occasion.

"Yes, Pooky's secret." he smiled as he thought about the pocketful he made giving Rupoors out around town.

    --

"Scott's Bridge? What?" Eve befuddledly asked the Mad Scrub. "Yeah Cactus, we have to grow that house, thanks for reminding me!"

Getselle began stomping over, never the one to be out-bitched. Eve stayed close to Wollo, afraid of whatever bizarre thing Cenea was planning with the food and wary of Getselle who was only getting closer. Getselle shoved a Mad Scrub, knocking his drink over on his head.

"Little bitch! I could smell you through your shitty makeup job!..And that blindfold makes you look like shit!" the snotty Kokiri moaned in her characteristic vocabulary. "I'm about to ruin my manicure on your bulbous little pig face."

"Let's go Wollo, we need to build my house with Cactus. HEY CENEA! That Kokiri is not my friend, she's a secret monster causing all the little ones and good friends to cry!" Eve quickly improvised.

The brunette Kokiri took Wollo's little nub in her gloved hand. She was pretty adamant about having left Kokiri Forest over people like Getselle, and she was already feeling the groove of getting the hell out of here. However, the temptation of getting her house back was growing pretty strong. Having a brand new house to store a bunch of her crap in was going to be a huge relief. She could already think of all the closets she would have to cram full of her clothes. She started leading Wollo out and added another bit.

"Wollo we'll go out front and when Cenea comes out we can get her to regrow my house! An old fashioned barn raising Wollo, it's gonna be spectacular." Eve added, one of her eyeballs spinning around as she looked at his handsome mustache.

"Bored, so staying in a boring village." Rika mused, not believing Pooky for an instant. He could not really care any less about whether his words held any falsities, though. "Then, this is considered entertainment for you, Pooky? Galivanting around with an assortment of bratty children, inept scrubs, and pathetic fairies?" Rika paused. "...You really have nothing better to do, huh?" Rika took a big slice of the cheesecake, making sure to get the chocolate crumble kind with the rich graham cracker crust. "I am sure you are a veritable wealth of secrets and mystique, Pooky." This was a joke.

    --

"A monster?" Cenea floated, looking over the rude, impish girl who could certainly pass for a monster- Getselle, not Eve. She hovered close to the girl- this was a Kokiri. "She is the CHild." Eve was already gone. Getselle, in her rage, seemed to want to take it out on Cenea now, and so she swiped at the fairy, trying to smack her out of the air. Her hand collided with the Tiny Fairy form, but it did not move- it stayed in place, like an unmovable rock suspended in air. "The chjilD is bad." Cenea cooed, and Getselle would feel an intense shock of trauma, darkness, and pain jolt from her hand up to her chest, head, and throughout her body. For just an instant, Cenea's body flared up, the ominous luminescence wafting from her replaced with black, eternal darkness. It was too much for the girl. Getselle collapsed to the ground, foam spewing from her mouth, the agony and torment on her mind caused by the Shadow Enchantment too much for the girl to hold onto consciousness.

"Uhh.. Cact house? Barn Raze?" Wollo said, following Eve out the door. He didn't know what they were doing, but it seemed like Eve had something special to show him. It would be such a fun time with her.

    ...

Cenea looked down at the foaming Kokiri. She was a bad child. Bad children should be punished. Especially to Good Children like Eve.

The Tiny Fairy hovered through the party and out the door. "Eeeeeeeve." It cooed, floating towards the unkempt girl. "Your ffffriend is a bad Children. She has been punish ed. Bad bad children must be punished must be punished." The ominous linger of if Getselle's head had been exploded probably lingered in the air, but no one was running away out of fear, so unfortunately that probably didn't happen.

"Good children get houses. Eve is a good child let us get the house." She floated above Eve menacingly.

Pooky shoved his way out of Rika's house, stepping on Getselle on the way out. His eyes widened at the little Fairy.

"Punishhh! You should punish them yes!" he howled.

"Shut up Pooky! Also she's not my friend." Eve yelled, failing to distribute her focus between the Fairy and the Miniblin.

As expected, Eve also assumed that Cenea had busted Getselle's head open or something. She didn't know what to think about that. Eve made sure Wollo was still nearby. . . he hadn't moved much. She was interested in the promise of growing a house back and showing the Octorok the splendor of the magic. With her nemesis defeated, and her house coming back, Eve felt her heart grow ten sizes that day. Or maybe that was the [unmentionable object].

"Look, Wollo! We're going to use magic to make a house!" she yelled, her heart full of wonder.

Pooky heard the word "house" and immediately began scheming. The Moblin Holiday was coming today, but only for Pooky! Eve wiped her face with a glove, and a crumble of dried blood came off her nose. It really felt like they hadn't been beaten up by a stupid wizard today, but they really did. Soon however, it would all pay off. If not through this house but through the soft simplicity of Pooky's homemade cheesecake.

"Come on Cactus! I wish to the great fairy for a new house!" she pleaded, watching for Cenea to ready herself.

"Hey! I can't go one goddesses damned moment without..." Rika shouted to the fleeing gaggle of ne'er-do-wellers, who had swiftly made their escape in the heels of the foaming Giselle. Rika cared little about the girl splayed out in his floor- she was alive, so it was fine. What he did care about, was that Eve and Cenea seemed to be up to something- with them catching Pooky's attention, too, it would have to be bad. So he darted after them, towards his door. On his way out, he heard a familiar voice call him. "Rika, you're back!" It was Viole, but he had no time to stop. "And I'm leaving!" Was all he said, before bolting out the door and vaulting off the treetop down to the others.

"What in the twenty hells are you all conspiring?" He accused, his eyes darting between the suspects. "Weeee are making a House for Eve a good child." Cenea cooed, her tiny form resting unsettlingly on Eve's head.

"Do not be absurd. Do you know how long it takes to build a house?" Rika looked at Eve, with a look that would make you believe he thought her to be stupid.

"Oh. Is that trueeee?" Cenea questioned, her head contorting around to look at Eve. "I guess the good child will have to share houses."

Wait, no. Rika immediately shook his head in dismissal- the last thing he would want is to have Eve forced on his own place of living, whether he was there regularly or not. "No, that is- actually, why do we not restore the house for you? Excellent idea, let us be moving." He tried to hurry the conversation away from that topic as quickly as possible, moving to push Eve along if she were not already moving.

Cenea just remained perched on Eve's head, her residual dark light flickering off the girl's iridescent golden eyes.

"Pooky wants to see the house go up." Pooky added, volunteering his enthusiasm.

There was a lull as Eve looked around for Cenea. The fairy on her head continued to make her glow. She looked back down at her hands, trying to count on her fingers how many hells there were. Pooky chuckled as he watched the Kokiri struggle to count. She was going to be a very excellent customer for him. Pooky dug through some charts in his pack, sneering menacingly. Eve finally gave up after counting to fifteen.

"Pooky has an offer for house." he added, pulling out a clipboard. "Sign on this to secure your house de-neh ba da bing."

Eve looked at the imp as if he had lost what little value was left. This had to be some kind of trick, but Eve wasn't sure what he was doing. There was still residual comfort in Eve's heart, having discovered the comfort of house and home. She reached out for the clipboard after a brief moment.

"Too bad Cactus, this little pimple says we can't make the house until I sign this." she groaned, looking up and down the paper. She couldn't really read, per se. But she figured looking at it would help the situation.

"Hey, hey, wait a second. . .!" Rika called to the swindling Miniblin. "You are not even from Kokiri Village, a contract from you means nothing, you cannot do that!" He chastised. One might think he was looking out for Eve- no, he was not. He did not really care that much about whether she got tricked into some Pooky Pyramid Scheme, but he did care that Pooky was trying to make moves in the Kokiri Village. The Kokiri around him were all so stupid, they would definitely fall for whatever insurance schemes or home refinancing plans he had in place.

Still, Eve had fully believed him, so she would not back down, and Pooky would certainly find another way to deceive her. ". . .To do something like that, you will have to pay up, Pooky." The truth of what Rika was getting at. Pooky's money. The Miniblin was certainly rolling in rupees- he was scamming Eve, who was certainly broke, so Rika wasn't sure how exactly he was, but he surely was.

If the rapscallion hesitated or refused his offer, Rika would immediately continue pushing Eve towards the ashed remnants of the house. He was not in a mind to negotiate with the Miniblin- he would accept Rika's deal or he would just ignore him.

"Girl has to 'secure' house. Rika ba da bing. Pooky calls it Miniblin Marketing, or MBM. Paying Rika will only result in more rupees for Pooky!" he delighted, almost sing-songy.

The Miniblin took out a massive gem. It was obviously his Rupoor in disguise. He saw a twinkle. . . almost a glare in Rika's eyes. He used sleight of hand to swap the Rupoor with some real rupees. Not this time Pooky.

"They say heroes live to pay the Pooky Price. Remember that." he snickered, making the rupees dance in his paw. Then something remarkable happened.

"Remember Pooky Yes!" came a voice from all sides of the woods. He had altered his speech with his incredible Ventriloquism, something he used to confound his friends and foes alike.

His diabolical eyes warped before the Kokiri. He pulled something else from his Smuggling Pocket.

"Looking for this Pooky?" he inquired, a gleam of gold showing in his other paw. That was. . . a golden stone? A shard? It was the exact match to the boy's Kinstone Piece. How had Pooky done such a thing?

Eve yawned, just out of sight. She still hadn't signed the document. Perhaps waiting for whatever those two were doing to resolve, Eve shifted her attention to Wollo and Cenea. Cenea was odd as she had been- but Wollo- something about Wollo never got old. She could just stare into those just eyes, that daring mustache. Wollo truly had it all.

Rika's eyes narrowed at the display Pooky had put on. He was quick to see through the act, but he was far too distracted to call him out on it, his attention pulled by the glimmering golden stone Pooky pulled out. Its bottom half seemed cut off, with intricate holes mixed within like a part of a key missing its other half. And not just any other half, but the one Rika had on him. "Wait a-" Rika fumbled through his bag to pull out his golden half. Goddesses only knew how long he'd had this thing. Apparently it was incredibly rare, which was more of a blessing than a curse as he could never find a pair.

Rika's eyes glazed over the Miniblin. "...You had planned this, Pooky." He accused, looking over the Gold Rupee Kinstone half he held. After a moment's pause, though, Rika relented. "...Well, that is fine. I care not what led to this exchange, only that it works." Rika extended his Kinstone to click it in place with Pooky's. Who knew what would happen when a Gold Rupee Kinstone was fused, with its luxurious rarity and pristine... goldness. Maybe it would make another house entirely on them!

    Ta-da-da-daa!

For a moment, nothing happens. Then, the two pieces meld together with a loud 'click!' and explode in a swirling cloud of shining, golden sparkles, coating the two in a thin layer of gold.

Rika and Pooky both receive 100 rupees! How very, very lucky!!

Eve finally ripped her eyes away from the handsome Octorok. What was that she had heard before? What was the Pooky Price? Eve's attention went back to the tiny Cenea who was still picnicking on her head.

"Cactus? Pooky is about to charge me for it anyway so you may as well try to make the ruins of my house come back." she explained, leading the group further into the woods.

As soon as he had appeared, Pooky vanished into the darkness. Eve knew it was not the last she would see of him given that little contract he had with him. She had even ignored that little gesture of his that made him that much wealthier. She was curious what Rika would do with his own free money though. The red fellow was so savvy with his own earnings she was sure he would buy another blazer or something. Maybe another spellbook? Eve had to start learning some spells of her own to keep up with him.

After a brief walk through the forest, the smoldering remains of Eve's moldy treehouse stood in front of them. It was still sentimental to Eve as it had made a really good dry storage center. She hated coming back here but it was usually worth it to leave her favorite board games and junk. Her entire secondary stash of crayons was in there before it burned down. So many valuable colors melted and wasted. Eve looked solemnly at the sight of the site.

"There it is lady. We need to use resurrection, level four. I want to see the most alive house ever!" Eve cried. She waved her slightly flaming hands in the direction of the ashen wood pile.

Why was it that Rika's clothes could never stay red? They were always adorned or dyed with some manner of other color, and not from the sources one would typically suspect from the life of an adventurer. No, it was always errant dyes, accursed magics from annoyed mages, Pooky Da Na trickery, the list never ended. It was a momentary distraction, but enough for Rika's eyes to be taken off the mischievous little rat, giving him enough time to scurry off without quarrel. Though knowing Pooky, he was never too far away.

The shiny, golden sparkles seemed to coalesce after a few moments- rather than cling to his clothing, they would have rather clung to each other, forming into a not-quite-solid, malleable puddle of sorts. It was clear from its shimmer it would catch a fair price in a trade market, once Rika was back in Castle Town. With a sigh, he scooped it up into a tiny bottle. At least his encounter with Pooky was fruitful. "Alright, let us get on with this abominable charade." He moved towards the direction of Eve's house.

    --

"Level four?" Cenea whispered, hovering from Wollo's majestic round head- not balding, but in fact clear for perching for his friends to rest their weary selves- to Eve. What could the sweet child mean by that? Ahh, levels of the house. What a smart child, so all of her friends may visit. "Yesss.... Level..." She coo'd, fluttering in front of Eve. Her body began to expand, limbs jutting out from the diminutive fey form like errant branches rapidly growing from a fallen tree, sprouting out until a torso rippled between them, and it was only a moment before a fully formed Great Fairy hovered in front of the girl.

"Your house shall live, Eeeeev." She hummed, her voice as melodically enchanting as it was foreboding. She fluttered over to the charred remains of the house, her movement elegant and wasteless. Long, tendrilled fingers brushed their tips over the blackened, brittle wood that was the base of the tree, indenting themselves against it and causing it to crumble ever so slightly, from little more than her palm.

Suddenly, her fist violently embedded itself within the wood, a lurching punch crushing wood and debris alike. Then another, and another, then once more, until all four of her arms were submerged deep within the crumbling trunk. It looked like those blows alone, completely unrestrained, were having an effect on the tree's stability, its dying throes of stability crying out. That was not the end for the tree, though, unfortunately. Cenea's body began to resonate, dark, magical energies pulsating from her core until they began rippling outward. Her body invoked by shadows, darkness swarming around her and lashing at the tree. And for a few moments, that was all it was.

For a few moments. Until the vile energies began to pour into the tree, its lifeless, jagged cracks slowly filling themselves with the nightmarish evil releasing itself from her body. It flooded the tree, wrapping around and upward until the entirety of its wood was enraptured by this magic, then the remnants of the house itself. It was only a matter of time before the tree itself was shadow- a pure, deep blackness where if one were to gaze in it, they would only see their own, inner sickness.

Then, it rippled outward, in a veritable explosion, not of pyre and shrapnel, but of energy, pulsating, faster and faster. The tree began to sprout new limbs, branches extending like ashen wood, sticking out where they may have once lied, wood forming where walls once were, extending up and high. Precisely four floors in style, though each floor was far larger than one might expect a typical house floor- indeed, they seemed to go up and up the tree, it standing tall in defiance of the Golden Goddesses themselves.

What was in front of Rika and Eve was nothing less than an abomination, a creation that would never naturally exist. A tree made of charred, ashen wood, burnt as could be, but standing tall, supporting a colossal, dungeon sized house that expanded far beyond the boundaries of Eve's former domicile. The walls pulsated with a chaotic frenzy, black streaks of magical shadow energy marring their exterior. But if only that were all. The branches that had burst outward like limbs did not stop only at what would normally be seen, and they did not in fact stop at all. They moved, like a living creature would move an arm, and they went downward as well. Countless roots erupted from the ground, lifting the tree up like a wooden centipede, and before anyone could react, the root legs moved, it scurrying off with a blinding speed not at all becoming of its size.

"Wait tree I must build the next CHILD for you!"Cenea began flying after it with similarly astounding speeds.

"No. . . no. . . that's quite enough of that." Eve stated, blankly. "We'll just have to find it one day and sell it back to Pooky. Miniblin marketing, PHOOEY."

She still hadn't signed the document. Pooky himself was long gone with a new pile of coin, anyhow. Something felt like this wasn't the last time they would see him. Eve couldn't put the pieces together, was that creature murderous or greedy? She knew Pooky would very well try to kill if he didn't have everything to gain from liberating the rupees from everyone's wallets. Maybe that would keep them from having to look over their shoulders all the time, at least. Either way, she knew from now on to be on her toes for whatever the imp had planned next for her and her friends.

"Well thank you, Cactus! You saved my life!. . . and my kids! The mayor is coming to give you the key to the city! Gods damn it. I'm so done with today." Eve added, praising Cenea loudly and sarcastically.

She looked around at the sight, Kokiri and Deku everywhere were celebrating that small party they had just had. Many were entertained by that surprise house raising they just performed. Fairies also swirled in the air, joyous of their freedom and the freedom of those who escaped the wizard's lair. Eve slinked away, looking back a few times.

"REEEEEDDD! I'm leaving now! I'm gonna get this 'Twister' thing fixed then I'll bump into you again probably. We'll beat up some giant walrus or something like we always do." she continued talking as she shuffled away into the distance.

It was possible she really was going to fix the twists. Seeing the fairies all so happy, maybe the Twister thing was exactly the attitude adjustment Eve needed this whole time. Though she seemed different in a way, and the involvement of the Miniblin seemed to echo a different menace that the two Kokiri just couldn't place. Surely they would meet again under different circumstances, and hopefully a lot less local Kokiri. Something about the town still rang sour with Evelyn, and it was clear as she vanished into the shade of the trees and the fog that this still was the case.

The day had been way too long. The canopy of trees veiling the forest from the sky occasionally made it difficult to tell the passage of time in Kokiri Forest, but it mattered not. Enough had happened today that regardless of how long it actually took, it was a day's worth of events. And somehow, this was the worst of it all. The celebratory cheers flooding the city quickly drowned out the remnants of chaos lingering from Cenea's trick, the tree and fairy fading out of view as quickly as they had risen.

Eve was off as well, leaving but two- our stalwart hero Wollo, and his infamous sidekick, Rika. All Rika wanted at this point was a nap, but with the village- his house, even- in the state it was, sleep was not an option.

So he left, to look for somewhere to sleep- a library, perhaps. One which would surely be empty as the other foolish Kokiri would rather party than read. Returning back to that damned wizard's hut might prove better rest as well. Hopefully when his nap was finished the village would not be ransacked by that abominable tree. Or by Pooky. He would come to find a curious little kinstone half during his nap as well.

Wollo went to go play with the other Kokiri. His friends were throwing a party, and he was not entirely sure why, but it seemed like everyone was having fun, and Wollo liked that.
