In the span of a blink, the world around Silas changed, molded into somewhere, something that defied time and space. In the span of a blink, both the Rito and the Zora had been placed in a perfectly symmetrical, brightly lit room. The Rito's mouth curled into a thin smile, one hand drawing the pickhammer from its heavy sheath and twirling it in his grip. A white-knuckle grip which betrayed his nervousness more than his posture and gait. His footsteps were light, yet he felt as though they resonated throughout the room and continued to echo through his mind after he went still.

"So," he said quietly, the thin smile breaking into a grin. "Shall we begin then?"

Rift blinked and was suddenly in a brilliant white room, completely cubic. About 18 feet in front of Rift stood the Rito whom had addressed him mere moments before. The Zora quickly drew his bow and strung it with one smooth movement. Rift looked across at his grinning opponent and gave a short bow, his eyes never leaving the Rito.

"I am Rift Tiburian, and I am honoured to do battle with you. Now, prepare yourself!" After shouting the short warning Rift lifted his bow and deftly notched an arrow, he drew the weapon back and released the shot in a single swift motion. The deadly missile was aimed for the Rito's chest. Rift hoped to catch his opponent off guard and give himself an earlier advantage. Could he be so lucky?

Silas had been ready thanks to the Zora's warning, and leapt aside into a roll, righting himself on one knee. It wasn't safe to stay far away from him--eventually one of the arrows would connect, and if that happened he'd be easy pickings. The Rito kept moving, placing a hand on the tiled wall and feeling the gravity shift. Soon he was rolling along the wall to right himself, disoriented by the sudden change but unwilling to be skewered by the Zora's arrow. He seemed to go in a circle, maneuvering from wall to wall in a tightening spiral to eventually close in on him.

    "Call me Silas."

Rift watched as the Rito fell... on to the wall? Interesting. He had no time to ponder the complexities of this strange room. If he continued to stand still he would die. Rift jumped backwards towards the wall and found himself lying on the flat of his back. What the... He righted himself and took his bearings. The Rito introduced himself as he ran around the ... walls? of the room.

"Nice to meet you Silas." Rift genuinely meant what he said, but this Rito was now merely game to be hunted. Rift rolled to his right then leaped sideways landing right beside the next wall. He ran up it, and gravity shifted again. Rift turned and fired off two arrows in a matter of 5 seconds, both aimed in the projected path of his opponent. Neither were intended to hit; just to force the Rito to think a little. Rift turned and ran immediately after releasing the arrows, another already notched and ready.

Silas had half a mind to just throw his damn pickhammer in hopes of getting the sap to move, a thought that immediately dissolved when the first arrow whizzed past his face. He turned and, as he never took another step, the second arrow missed entirely. The Rito turned to face him, pickhammer unsheathed and held protectively with a white-knuckle grip. His feet didn't move from the wall, however, as the Zora turned and ran. Eventually the Zora would work his way around the room, and when that happened..

Silas kept his grip on the pickhammer, ready to dodge an arrow if need be.

Rift kept an eye on the Rito as he dodged the first arrow and seemingly anticipated the second. Not missing a step he slowed his gait and smoothly hung the bow off his quiver. He stopped in the corner farthest from Silas and reached with his right hand to ready a Boomerang Fin. Rift looked up and across at the Rito and waited. His opponent seemed to be afraid to go offensive. He stood lightly on his feet, watching the Rito closely, ready to make a move.

The Zora had something planned, Silas could feel it. What he couldn't feel was his own legs betraying him, pounding in front of one another to charge at his opponent. It was easy enough to see the boomerang fin being prepared, less easy to tell when it would be fired. A hand gripped the pickhammer protectively as he charged, ready to bat it back if necessary. There wasn't much else he really could do; the longer he stayed away from his opponent, the more chances he had to fire off arrows and wear him down, and skewer him eventually. The only way was to close the distance and get personal with him.

Rift was ready when the Rito charged. His opponent ran straight at him, across the room his weapon ready. Rift stepped to the right, then pushed off to his left, running next to the wall. He pulled off his right fin with his left hand. Having reached the center of the wall, he threw with his right hand, aiming for the Rito's neck, compensating for both combatants movement. Rift then quickly passed the second fin to his right hand and threw it, only two steps behind the first, but this time aimed at the his opponents thighs. As the deadly fins quickly closed the gap between the Zora and the Rito, Rift grabbed the shaft of his spear tightly. He may need to use it soon.

Silas turned himself over, ready for the first fin but slightly off-guard for the second. He swung the pickhammer over his head, batting the fin into the...wall, was it? Every surface had its own gravity; it was impossible to tell which wall was the floor anymore. Whichever surface this was, his face met it the hard way after diving over the second fin, trying to keep an eye on Rift in the meantime. If he was going to get anywhere, he had to close the distance, fast.

And close the distance he did, charging at Rift as fast as his legs could propel him, the head of his pickhammer flying downward in hopes of making contact.

Rift watched, disappointed, as the Rito avoided his attacks, but smiled as it's face connected with a wall. The first fin was knocked to the ground, and the second clattered off the back "wall", and landed some distance away. The next thing he knew he was being charged, a pick hammer swinging downward at his head. Rift took a step forward, closing the gap even more, and dropped to one knee. He planted the butt of his spear on the ground, and lowered the head towards the charging Rito's chest. Just like a wild boar. Too bad he wasn't equipped only with tusks... tusks I can handle. He gripped the spear with his left hand, and reached for his dagger with his right. Hopefully the length of the spear would keep the hammer at bay, or at least keep him out of harms way.

((Just wondering... what did the face plant on the "wall" do to Silas? Any blood? Dazed?))

    ...Wait, what?

The throbbing pain in his skull overtook him, leaving him to ponder what the hell happened. But there would be time for that later; now was the time to get out of the spear's way. Silas pushed the spear aside, but that didn't entirely save him--a large gash was left in his side, tearing a hole in his clothing. He kept what little momentum he had, the pickhammer's heavy head swinging back up to clock the Zora.

Rift watched as Silas knocked the spear aside with his weapon, and sustained a wound on his side. As the Rito swung upwards with his hammer, on the right side of his body, Rift let his spear drop to the floor and stepped quickly forward, and to the left sde of the Rito's body. Out of harms way from a hammer uppercut, and squatting low to the ground, mere inches now from his target, Rift stabbed quickly at the Rito's left side with the dagger gripped in his right hand.
