    Height: 5'10 (182cm)

    Weight: 190lbs (86kg)

Equipment: A tool belt with a few carving tools and small useful items on it.

    Appearance:

Zariana is of fairly average height for a female Zora (so she's a bit tall compared to female hylians, but not wildy so.) She is, however, quite a bit on the stocky side, especially for a Zora. It's not fat though, it's all muscle. As a stone worker she's lifted and hauled rocks all her life, and even in water that takes strength. Her skin is typical Zora blue, but it shades to a very pale green along her belly and is mottled with purple along her back. Her eyes are black.

    Personality:

Zariana is hot-tempered and impatient, especially when forced to deal with other people, whether fellow Zoras, Hylians, or anybody else. Her only patience is reserved for her art, where she can happily spend hours carving tiny, delicate details. Her work is very good, but her business has always struggled since her customer service is rather bad. Once, when a customer made what she considered to be unreasonable demands, she threw his half-finished statue at his head. That sort of thing is fairly typical of her. Though when something hasn't set off her temper she can be very cheerful and good-natured.

She is fairly intelligent, but often comes across as stupid because she rushes into things without thinking about them, reacting on emotion. She is also physically very brave, she has very little fear of bodily harm. Facing less tangible fears, however, is not her strong point. Especially not when she has to admit to weakness. She is somewhat egotistical and proud, and very reluctant to confess to any sort of mistake, even when she knows perfectly well she's in the wrong.

She is the exact opposite of a romantic, and has always eschewed entanglements and relationships, preferring to focus her attention on her carving. That mono-focus has allowed her to acquire great skill, but has also meant that she has little in her life other than her work. She considers herself to be asexual, but whether that's true or whether she's just never given herself to chance to meet anyone she could get along with remains to be seen. Regardless, she is not interested in being wooed and tends to react badly to any suggestions of either romance or sex.

    Residence:

Zariana, like many Zora, lives in an oceanic cave. Hers is at the bottom of the eastern sea, and until very recently she had never set foot on land at all. Unlike most Zora, Zariana's cave is not connected to any other, nor to any central living area. She prefers to not give anyone else access to her work space, which takes up most of her home, claiming that it interferes with her ability to carve. Her home is not, however, somewhere out in the howling wilderness, it's located right in the middle of the Zora settlements of Hyrule Bay. She has close neighbors, but no close friends.

Pet: A small octopus. When traveling on land Zariana often leaves her pet at home, as he is quite capable of taking care of himself. But she has been known to carry him in a jar sometimes.

    Backstory:

Zariana has never known war. Ganon's attacks never touched the East Sea Zoras directly, though indirectly their effects have been felt. But her life has not precisely been what one could describe as "peaceful" and that is entirely her own fault. Her hot temper frequently caused her to start fights with other children. She won enough of those fights for bullies to learn to leave her alone, but bullies weren't the only ones she fought with, and before long the other Zora children left her alone as well. Seeking an outlet for her too-frequent anger, she was happy when her parents pushed her into an apprenticeship with a stonemason. There she discovered an unexpected talent for finer detail work, and eventually moved on to apprentice with a sculptor, where she still mostly worked in stone (one's materials choice under water being somewhat limited) but also experimented with shell, bone, coral, and whatever else she could find. Years later she was finally able to set up her own business, carving items both large and small for the Zoras. Her pieces have adorned the homes of the wealthy, and some have even made it up on land eventually.

That was how her life stood, quiet if one didn't count her frequent altercations with customers, until just after her thirty-first birthday. On what should have been yet another ordinary day of work the surface world intruded onto Zariana's life rather abruptly, in the form of a wrecked ship. It had been broken and shattered by something, perhaps merely a fusillade of cannonballs from some pirate, perhaps something stranger or more magical. Zariana knew nothing of ships. All she knew was that a vast mass of wood and tangled rope descended from above and landed directly on her home.

The ship did not quite destroy it completely. A cavern makes a sturdy structure. A ship, however, is several tons of wood. When sunk they do not generally settle gently to the ocean floor, they crash into it with great force.

Fortunately Zariana herself was out, buying food. Unfortunately the ship partially collapsed her cavern home, sending rock tumbling down into her studio and ruining all her work. Statues and carvings of all kinds, finished and unfinished, were crushed beyond repair. Blocks of stone ready for carving were shattered, and more delicate materials reduced to powder. Tools too were buried in the rubble, leaving Zariana with nothing but the tool belt at her waist and the pouch of food she had just purchased.

Her bedroom was left intact, but with the wreck looming over it she felt as though it might fall in at any moment. She was no coward, but she also had no desire to stay in such a place. Instead, in a heated fury at the destruction of years worth of work, she set out for the surface, to try and find those responsible for the sinking ship and demand justice from them.

When she reached the surface she found nothing there but an open sea, with waves running high beneath a cloudy sky. She could find no sign of those responsible. Stubborn, angry, and determined to somehow hunt them down all the same she set out for land, picking a direction at random, knowing almost nothing of the surface world or the people she might meet there...

Looks good to me! I really liked how original your backstory felt, and I feel like your character's personality really matched how she acted in her backstory. This is accepted as a Devoted level character.
