Welcome to the Academy

The Basics

While this school was originally planned to be a "Mage" only school, I have decided to open it up to other sorts of schooling, though the school will be primarily known for its research in magic.

If you wish to be a student:
You must be between the ages of 10-19, if you wish to be a student.
Underclassmen should range between the ages of 10-14.
Upperclassmen should range between the ages of 15-19.

If you wish to be a teacher/staff member:
Your age must be higher than 20.
You, the character, must have a Wisdom score higher than one.


If you're interested in joining this area, please send a PM to either WillowtheWhisp or Squishy, and what sort of student/staff position you'd be interested in (ex. Teacher, Fencing Club Captain, Janitor, Class Representative). Additionally, if you have any input for us, or want to help with anything, please also say so.
As we’re still very much in the beginning stage, literally every staff position is open, please refer to the attendee list to see which positions are filled. You’re also free to come up with a new idea for a staff position.

School History & Information

History

Opened in the year 50 B.G., the Academy of Sages has a long and proud history. Long a target for the evil doers of Hyrule, the Sages created the Academy in order to scour the land for their spiritual descendants, to teach and protect them. A place where great power is nurtured, the best and the brightest of both Northern and Southern Hyrule have historically been sent to the Academy of Sages, natural talent and intelligence often the greatest indicator that a child would eventually assume the mantle of Sage.

Since its founding, however, the Academy has also become a safe haven for magic practitioners, and is regarded to be the greatest place to learn the arcane. Though not every student becomes a Sage, one can be assured that when you leave, you will likely become a sorcerer of significant renown. That said, the Academy's selection process is quite strict, and only the best are even considered for entrance into the school. Better known, though, is the Academy's research centers for the various studies of magic, often a pioneer in the creation of new spells, or exploring the as-yet-undiscovered roads of magic.

In more recent days, the Academy has opened its doors to more than just the promising mages of tomorrow; those who display significant skill in any subject, be it athleticism, or some other subject, have begun to be scouted for the Academy. With the emergence of Ganon, it was agreed that the heroes of tomorrow would have to be found and protected, every talented youth a valuable resource for the preservation of the free races.

Rules and Regulations

General:
- Students are not allowed to leave campus without express permission from a teacher or other staff member. The school is surrounded by a magical barrier preventing students from leaving. Staff members however, are free to leave when they please.

- Students are required to wear school uniforms when in class. On weekends, they are free to wear what they want.


Misbehavior:
- Misbehavior can be punished with detention, suspension or expulsion, depending on the severity of the misbehavior.

- Being late for class will result in a warning. After three warnings have been given, the student in question will be given detention, the nature of which to be decided by the teacher.

- Violent or criminal behavior (stealing, fighting, aggression, threatening students or staff) will result in suspension. Suspension and the duration thereof is decided on by the headmaster and teachers of the student in question.

- Severe violent or criminal behavior, aggression towards staff or students and the ignoring of multiple warnings and earlier punishment will result in expulsion. Expulsion is decided on by the headmaster and teachers of the student in question.

- Misbehavior from staff will be punished with either suspension, or in case of severe misbehavior, being fired.


Health and safety:
- Small pets are allowed in the dorms and outside. It is prohibited to bring pets into the mess hall or classrooms. Cats, rabbits, birds, mice, snakes, small dogs etc. are considered small pets. Larger animals, such as horses, dragons and large dogs are not allowed on the school grounds.

- It is strictly forbidden for students and staff members to use spells on others. It is also forbidden for underclassmen to use spells outside of class. Upperclassmen and staff members are allowed to use spells outside of class, but will be punished for misuse.

Campus Map

This is the Academy of Sages. While this is a structured RP area, it is still very much a place for free roleplay; as such, the Academy doesn't have a definite layout, much in the same way that Castle Town or other cities and places do not. Everything is to be left to your imagination, so long as it's in keeping with the school atmosphere. The above map should give you a fairly good idea as to the general appearance and scale of the campus. Moreover, attendees are strongly encouraged to populate the school with teachers, students, and other staff members, as one might populate a city; for what is a school without people? NPCs can be as prevalent as you wish within your roleplays, ranging anywhere from a best friend, to a hated teacher.

Underclassmen:
(All underclassmen courses are mandatory. The underclassman period consists of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.)

(Upperclassmen courses are divided in a mandatory part, which all upperclassmen have to follow, and a set of optional courses. Upperclassmen are required to follow at least three of these optional courses, but can choose to follow up to five if they wish. The upperclassmen period consists of the 5th, 6th and 7th years.)

News, Weather and School Events

All school run events will have their own threads posted within the Academy. These threads will only stay open for a certain amount of time, and may or may not have special rewards related to participating in them. Below are the events that are currently posted for this time, as well as pertinent school news.

-The School Year has Begun, but classes are not in session for the first week, as new students become acquainted with the campus, and returning students make themselves at home.

-There is a non-mandatory banquet in which students, and teachers, can introduce themselves to their fellow attendees. This social begins at five o' clock in the evening, on the Wednesday of the first week. Everyone is encouraged, and welcome to enjoy the food and company.

-Clubs are strongly encouraged to begin advertising and recruiting. Remember that in order to create a club, you should pick up an application from the Club Administration Office. A Club Festival is planned for in the coming weeks, in which there is an open fair for clubs to recruit other students.
