The sun was high in the noon sky over the Southern Fields, but all was quiet except for the blowing of the wind. All creatures knew better than to make noise when a gang of Moblins were passing through. They were all the same, destroying any sign of life in sight.

This particular group was diffrent, however, in that it was circling and circling a large tree, following a set of footprints imprinted in the dirt. They had been at this for some ten minutes already, and they probbably would have kept going, had not a rather menacing Darknut come up to them. Looking at it from a distance, it's overall mannerisms were that of annoyance. After a seemingly inaudiable conversation, the Darknut and the Moblins dispatched and left the shade of the tree.

A minute or so later, Gabby Tailor swung down from a branch, and chuckled silently to himself as he brushed the dirt off his tunic. Dispite the knowledge of how dangerous a place the surface of Southern Hyrule could be, Gabby couldn't help but think of how easy it was to evade the detection of those monsters. "It's just too easy," he said aloud, "Isn't that right, Cody?" His comment was responded by the squeek of a small raccoon, climbing down the tree's trunk and hopping onto Gabby's shoulder.

Gabby, with the companionship of Cody, had been traveling across the plains since yesterday, when the Moblins had taken Gabby's sister hostage, dragging her north. Gabby knew that the closest stronghold for those dark creatures was Kakariko Village, and was sure that the Moblins had taken her there. Gabby was determined to get to the village and bring her back home, safe from those monsters.

Lucy... Gabby could only wonder if she was ok...

Snapping back to the present, Gabby reached into his pocket, pulling forth a small ring. Slipping it onto his little finger, the sounds of his movements fell under the whistling of the winds. With a silent sigh, he continued his trek northward, towards the city on the horizon. As long as he was careful to avoid detection of the Moblin patrols, he would most likely make it there by late evening.

Pelkar sat in the humid cave, watching over his mother. Her scales had begun to fall off in clumps, and her teeth were merely nubs. She was dying, and he knew it. She had maybe days left, but he intented to make those the best days of her life. Her frail arms quivered as she touched his arm. He knelt forward, knowing from routine that she wanted to say something. With his ear close to her rasping mouth, he could pick up a few feeble words. "Pel...I want....to see the surface. One...last time."

Nodding, he picked up Helkaro and slid into the water. He was even slower than usual with her weight, and the small tunnels were difficult to navigate, but he eventaully was in the open water of the reef. The others looked at the two, but stayed quite.

The water warmed up as he rose, and he could see moon in the distance. He was just about to point it out to his mother when a sudden force pushed them both back. Acting by instinct he swam as fast as he could down. He could feel something passing him in the water, but he was in too much of a hurry to look.

Looking down at his mother in his arms, he recoiled in horror. A long black arrow was embedded in her chest, red blood floating out and filling his nostrils. He knew the blood would attract Gyorgs, but he couldn't move. He starting trying to calm himself, to find out what had happened. Black, long arrow. Moblin. Mom's dead. Gyorgs are coming. What should I do....she never got to see the surface again. They killed her. THEY KILLED HER!

He could hear the Gyorgs heading towards him, and he dropped the body. She was gone, and they would attack him if he held onto her. A dark rage filled his mind as he swam towards the surface. The Moblins were nowhere in sight....probably running. As he surfaced he could make out what looked like...tracks. He was swimming down longer than he thought, and the Moblins had at least an hour's head start. Unsheathing his friend's hammer, he began to follow the track at a steady pace. They would pay. Those filthy pigs were DEAD!

The Moblin grinned in delight as it clutched the small, squirming animal by it's tail. I would make a nice meal for the evening. Or it would have, had not the Moblin's head been severed from it's body by Gabby's sickle.

Cody yanked his tail free from the dead moblin's grasp, and climbed back onto the shoulder of Gabby. Two hours of traveling had put them ever closer to their destination. It was strange to meet so few of the creatures of darkness out on patrol, considering that the sky was just starting to grow dark.

Looking to the East, Gabby saw the outline of the once great Kakariko Village... and a tear came to his eye as he remembered the events that had transpired there 15 years earlier. Fire, screaming, bloodshed... it was a terrible vision.

But greving a life that could never be recovered was pointless. Gabby set his sights once again on the distant wooden fortress to the north. It would be many more hours before he reached it, so he set out without hesitation.

Lucy.... I'm comming for you, Sister...

(I realized something when reading through your post. You say the sun is setting, but in my first post the moon was high in the sky. How about this: Pelkar has been traveling since the night before you started off, so we're about even in distance.)

Pelkar had put the hammer back in its sheath. These Moblins were faster than him on land, and his "feet" were started to get tired. He could see the outline of Kakoriko Village in the distance, in the glow of the setting sun. (so we're at the same time now.) The mutiple windmills were still turning, but thick smoke was billowing from some furnace or other fiendish contraption.

He was close. The tracks were headed to someplace past Kakoriko, and he could swear he saw a small tower in that direction. The glow of small fires had started up, and he could see the faint outline of a fortress.

Suddenly, he was pulled to the ground. Something had his foot! Turning hurriedly, he could see a bony hand had wrapped itself around his ankle. A skull was pushing itself through the soil, grinning wickedly. Other Stalfos were rising from the dark earth, their eyes glowing red. He counted...three. Pulling out his hammer, he smashed the hand and got free. The one who had grabbed him had a sword, the other two had axes. Smirking, he raised the hammer. This should be interesting.

(Sounds good. Lol these hylian timezones. XD )

The night air around them was filled with the bright, firey light that the Moblin's torches cast. The caravan had been sent out to find the group of Moblins that didn't return to the outpost. So far, they had been camped out in their current position for over an hour.

Also camped out were Gabby and Cody. They had been hiding behind a group of rocks for just as long, searching for a way into the fortress, considering the caravan was blocking the road to the south gate.

It wasn't long after this that Gabby decided that they couldn't get inside by the south gate. The only other option was to circle around the fortress and come in from the north. This would also give Gabby and Cody a chance to find a quick meal. Afterall, raiding fortresses is best done on a full stomach.

In about ten minutes, the Moblin's stationed nearest Gabby's rock were snoozing, and Gabby made his move. With Cody under his arm, he dashed across the field to the safety of a thick-bodied tree. Poking his head around, he saw that one of the Moblins had lifted it's head and was looking around lazily. Seeing nothing, the pigman dropped it's head and continued his nap.

Gabby breathed a silent sigh of relief, and checking once more to see that the coast was clear, he snuck away from the Moblin caravan, heading around the fortress's Eastern side.

(Because of the time skipping arounding, just for refrence: The first half of this post is directly after my last. The second half is at the same time as ^ that one.)

Pelkar held his hammer high, ready to bring it crashing down on the Stalfo's rotten heads. He was backing away as they advanced, trying to stay out of reach of the sword and axes until he got an opening. As the sword-wielding one thrusted his blade forward, he sidestepped and swung the hammer down on his sword arm. Now that it was weaponless, he ran forward and snapped its brittle neck.

The other two continued advancing, and he put his hammer back into its sheah. They were farther away, and as they hurried there pace he fully unsheathed his oversized armfins. Flipping backwards he sent the two fins flying into the two, crushing one's skull and knocking the other's backwards. Fumbling to straighten its head, it wasn't able to stop him as he ran forward and smashed its skull with the hammer.

Exhausted, he looked towards the distant fortress. He had to get closer. Those Moblins had to pay NOW.

-----------------------Later (same time as the above post.)------------------------------------------

Now even more exhausted, Pelkar was a safe distance from the fortress. He was behind a hilly outcropping on the east side, a rock overhanging blocking sight of him. He needed to rest, and think up a plan. The fortress looked impossible for one man to conquer, and the Moblins kept a constant watch on all sides. He was lucky he'd managed to get this close at all.

Suddenly, he heard something above him. Looking up hurriedly, he saw that just above him was a small rodent staring at him with crazy looking eyes. On the end of its tail hung something that looked terribly familiar.

As the Bombchu started to spark wildy, he managed to crush its skull with his hammer. The sparks died down, and he stared at the dead mouse. He was hungry, and as long as he didn't touch the bomb on the tail he was probably fine. Biting in with his sharp teeth, he grimaced. Give him fish any day.

    'Crud crud crud crud crud...'

With Cody in one hand and squirel meat in the other, Gabby was moving as fast as his legs would carry him. It was the best thing to do, what with a horde of angry Moblins chasing him.

It couldn't have been helped. The Moblins were sleeping and Gabby was hungry. If he hadn't have tried to sneak the squirel off the spit, it would have burnt and spoiled. Unfortunately, the spit snapped, waking up the entire posse of Moblins around the campfire.

A few more had joined the chase, and looking over his shoulder, Gabby guesstimated about 20 or so Moblins behind him.

    Twang! Shluck!

An arrow was sticking out of the squirel. Looking up, Gabby saw one of the tower guards aiming a bow at him. With another twang, an arrow rang the pot on his head. 'The Goddesses must be bored today...' He thought, 'Well then, I'll just have to entertain them.'

Coming to a sudden halt, Gabby fell to the ground(Cody leaped away to safety.), and an arrow wizzed past his head, lodging itself in a Moblin's side. Looking up, he thought he could hear the archer cursing in it's piggish language.

Gabby quickly rose to his feet again, only to find that the Moblin horde behind him had caught up to only a few meters behind him. Cursing under his breath, Gabby planted his feet to the ground, drawing his sickle from his belt. The Moblins were an arm's length away when he spun twice on the spot, unleashing a wave of energy from the blade in a spin attack. The sickle itself slashed a few of the leaders, while the wave sliced at the ones behind them. The entire horde collapsed in a Domino effect as Gabby turned to run.

He was safely away, he was homefree! He was... Running head first into a group of boulders. After blacking out a few seconds, he found that the Moblins had him cornered. To help that, the world was spinning. To help that, an arrow flew at him from above, slicing a nick in his weapon arm as it went past. This was definatly not his night...

(Well, this post isn't exactly my standard writing style, but in my defense, I have a major headache due to sinuses. It's affecting my thinking a bit.)

Pelkar had finally managed to get to sleep when he was awoken suddenly by loud noises coming from the fortress. He was still exhausted from his day long march, but he had to see what was going on. Pulling himself over the rock outcropping, he could see a Hylian being pursued by a rather large force of Moblins. He was holding a terrified...racoon in one hand and some smoking meat in the other. Had he actually tried to steal from the Moblins? He must be an idiot, reckless, or both.

The teenaged boy was headed in his direction, and he lowered himself down from his outlook. The Moblins were still close behind the Hylian, and an enemy of the Moblins, no matter how foolish his actions, was an ally.

Heading down the hill, he headed around the hill. Trying to make himself unoticeable, he leaned around the hill to see that the boy had crashed into some boulders at the bottom of the hill. He was surrounded by Moblins, and the entire fortress seemed focused on the intruder. An archer fired a shot at Gabby, and Pelkar flexed his fins. The archer was close, and he was just barely in range.

Pelkar sent his fins souring through the air, and the two boomerangs slashed the pig monster's throat. It screamed gutturally and crashed to the ground, blood pooling in the sandy ground below it. Several of the monsters noticed him, and about four charged straight at him.

Come on, come on...if only Grepjek were here. He'd left the salamander at home, but the little fellow was a lot better at these sort of situations then him. As they got closer, he had to duck below an axe blade. They were close, too close, and he didn't have any room...that was it.

Pelkar let out an electrically blast, shocking the Moblins surrounding him. This attack worked a lot better in water but they were at least stunned. Pulling at his hammer, he smashed it into the ribcage of one of his attackers. The others were starting to move again, and the larger group of Moblins were headed towards the new threat.

He couldn't take on them all, and that Hylian needed help. Running towards the downed boy, he started to feel his tiredness return. But adrenaline pushed him onwards, and he could just about reach Gabby. They had to get out of here, but the Moblins were still right behind him.

(I really have to appologise for my lack of... presence here. School comes before everything else, you know.)

Gabby swung to the left, dodging the sharp blade of an axe, only to have the broadsword ring against the pot on his head. He was too disoriented to properly fight off the Moblins still surrounding him. Actually, the only reason Gabby wasn't confused about the sudden presence of the Zora ally was that the Zora had taken a large load off of his shoulders.

Still, Gabby had about six of the Moblins on him. Bad, but not terrible. He ducked the swing of a spear, and cut his attacker off at the knees, and it started screaming fit to wake the dead. Gabby couldn't afford the attention of possible reinforcements, so he stabbed the pig through the throat. Unfortunately, this cost him to be knocked onto his stomach and pinned down by the Moblin with the axe.

Looking up, Gabby saw the Zora running towards him. Gabby could only pray to the goddesses that Pelkar made it before the axe came down...

Pelkar was running as fast as he could, his feet digging into the dry earth. The Moblins were close behind him, and he was charging straight towards more. His Don Gero Mask was starting to slip down over his face, blocking his vision. No longer able to see, he slammed with all of his weight into one of the Moblins.

Pulling the mask back up, he saw that the Moblin was holding an axe. Looking to his left he saw the Hylian that had started this whole mess. Dazed, he pulled himself up. Wincing a little he started to run again, heading away from the fort. He hoped the Hylian was close behind. No matter how foolish he was, he would be useful during his own assualt on the fortress.
