[Magnere + Guy in the Palace of Winds]

'What a weird tradition this has become.' Such thoughts ran through Guy's mind as he strode down the cold dirt streets of an old-town marketplace of Mido. Still, he didn't much mind it. His eyes wandered from one storefront to another, searching for a decent restaurant. A tokanese one looked like it specialized in Crescent food, of fish and sees. 'Big Brother's Boars' might have been for gorons from the look of it, but they presumably would have meat instead of just rocks. Of course there was the token zora piscine place--those were everywhere.

Guy turned towards Kalvar, his associate in this excursion. "Any place look good to you?" It was a question worth asking, as the scrub himself didn't particularly need food the same way this hylian lad did. It was the same every time they had gone on one of these excursions for food. Guy looked but most food was pretty similar to him, especially these days--now that his stomach seemed to work like a furnace. A weird tradition indeed.

"One of these days I should get you to try sirloin stone," he jested.

Around that moment the surrounding crowds grew in murmurs that quickly rose into a dull roar. At first Guy assumed it was just another group of children balking at a 'black rock monster,' but for once it seemed like this was actually something serious. As Guy turned his head to see what the commotion was about, a zora woman pointed skyward--directing everyone's gaze to a gargantuan winged silhouette in the sky.

A dragon? A bird? No it was--was that a giant red stringray?! Not only that but it was flanked by two smaller blue stringrays, and as it neared to the coastal town it became clear it wasn't about to peacefully fly overhead. Oh no, it was divebombing straight towards the city while spewing out hordes of horse-sized green stingrays like missiles. What a day to dine out.

A shortbow slid from Guy's adventure pouch and into his obsidian fingers. "Looks like we ordered fish."

Kalvar had to admit, he didn't quite know what to expect when he had met this strange Deku Scrub ages ago. Especially now considering he wasn't exactly a Deku in appearance, anymore. Either way, his unique looks, attitude, and surprising aptitude for combat had intrigued him for plenty of time. However, it seemed more common than not to simply just go out for food with him. A strange tradition, admittedly, but a pleasant one. Anytime he could simply sit around and relax in the presence of another living being that wasn't immediately set out to kill him was a relatively good time.

His eyes slowly scanned the town's many little buildings, more accurately searching with his nose than his eyes when it came to food. Growing up in the caves of Southern Hyrule, there was so much more interesting and unique flavors, spices, and all kinds of things he has never experienced before. A part of him was eager to try out pretty much everything. "You know, I'd probably give it a try. Assuming the stone didn't break my teeth." A quiet chuckle escaped his lips.

His attention was quickly turned away from the smell of sizzling steaks to the sight of a giant shadow blocking out the sun for a brief moment, sending out miniature versions of itself down to fly across the city. Almost immediately Kalvar's jovial mood was ruined and his appetite was soiled. His bow was quickly drawn as he prepared to actually fight.

"I'll admit, never had stingray before." His bow glowed a soft green for a second as he loosed an arrow at the nearest green one that was descending towards them. As soon as the arrow struck, stabbing into its soft flesh, strong winds blew it about almost immediately, knocking it into the side of a building, disrupting its flight enough that Kalvar could loose another arrow at the strange beast to finish it off.

"Every day in this land, I find another kind of monster that wants to kill me or eat me, I swear." He spoke out loud as he continued to fire off arrows one after another, attempting to put down as many of the little ones before they caused too much damage.

Though more accustomed to knives and hatchets, Guy took to his bow to fire volley after volley into the green monsters that fell upon the city like rain. He doubted mere throwing weapons could reach that red monstrosity blotting out the sun--so high up. Even as the other sparse warriors of the city and the town guard all joined in the fight, the torrential siege of the monster quickly made clear that this wouldn't be enough.

Even while firing as fast as his stone fingers would let him, Guy's volleys couldn't keep up. Even as ne notched another arrow, one of the green monsters leaped into him with wide, shark-like fangs. It was all the scrub could do to block the bite with the wooden shaft of his bow, only for that to be chomped apart like the meal Guy wished he was eating right now.

With a dart of his wrist, Guy flicked a hatchet out from his pants loop and used it to bash the creature off him before it could land another solid blow. With it seemingly felled--or at least dissuaded--Guy found himself in a swarm of more and more of them, which he was struggling to beat away with blow after blow from his hatchet while weaving under and around the ever-growing swarm. It was like a tidal weave of monsters poured from the sky onto this city. He had seen such horrors before, but deep in the ocean or in subterranean dungeons--let alone dropping upon a major city!

He was so preoccupied with the swarm that he didn't even see the colossal red tidal wave of a monster falling into Mido itself. By the time Guy looked up it was too late--there was no outrunning it. He, Kalvar, and perhaps this entire block were about to be swallowed in spread gyorg-like jaws. Hurling away his hatchet like it was nothing, Guy gave all the vigor he could into sprinting towards Kalvar with a rescue-tackle and Propelling them both as far out of the way as he could.

But it wasn't enough. The sun's light sealed into inky blackness as the gnashing of teeth and horrific screams echoed in the maw of death itself. Perhaps that last desperate Propel was enough to evade the teeth, at least. Before Guy could rationalize it all, he felt himself pulled down on moist and putrid organs--swallowed whole. He only hoped Kalvar's fate was no worse.

There was only so much Kalvar could do to keep the little green stingray-like beasts at bay. His arrows pierced through their skin easily enough, but he could hardly keep up with the growing swarm. For every one of their number he downed, a dozen replaced it in number. Soon enough, the beasts fell upon them, gnashing with horrible teeth.

Another wind-infused shot was enough to keep the immediate crowd away, but not for long. As soon as he had drawn his sword, his bow arm had been chomped down upon with incredibly sharp jaws. The teeth piercing his leather armor, stabbing into his soft skin. Steeling himself, Kalvar quickly stabbed through the beast. Even as it slumped to the ground, another was flying down directly at his face.

Having to duck, dodge, and weave amongst the endless swarm was a nightmare, but it proved only to get worse. The massive red one was eager to feed, and they were the meal for tonight. The tackle from Guy did more to knock the wind out of his lungs than rescue either of them, but it was too late. Darkness sealed around them as wet, sticky ooze replaced the clean air.

Even as he clambered for something to grip onto, the massive beast began to ascend. Rubble, market stalls, and even little Gyorgs that didn't escape the largest one's wrath began crashing down and into the gut as gravity did the work for it. His hands and feet found purchase on the sides of the throat, pressing tight up against it to avoid being pushed further in.

"I refuse to be-" Kalvar began to speak, only for what he could only imagine to be saliva covered his face, making him gag almost right away. Gross, on so many levels.

"Master Kalvar, Guy, are you two alright?" Wind Fairy would begin to speak out loud from his weapon, their airy voice full of concern. His bow was still in one of his hands as the construction made his grip nigh impossible to break, however, his sword was almost certainly stuck somewhere within the beast.

"Never better." Kalvar would respond mentally towards the bow, refusing to open his mouth any further. Preferring at the very least not to die in darkness, his bow would begin to glow incredibly brightly as he focused upon it. However, the sight of the pulsing flesh walls almost made him wish he hadn't.
