Author's Note: This character isn't really being created for gameplay purposes. Instead, he's intended to be a character better suited for story-driven RP.

    Name: Severyn Greymour

    Race: Hylian

Place of Origin: Southern Hyrule, Refugee of the Eastern Caverns

    Age: Mid- to late-30s

    Height: Six feet, two inches

Weight: Approximately fifteen stone (210 pounds)

    P/W/C: 2/1/1

    Equipment:
    Inscribed Sword
A simple yet effective weapon of two-and-a-half feet in length. Along the length of the blade are Hylian runes that read "in memory," referencing his fallen comrades. These runes are rather crude and difficult to read, however. The blade itself is forged from quality goron steel, but years of use have seen it pitted and marred. Its hilt is made of cast iron, and the handle is wrapped in worn leather bindings. The pommel has been repeatedly broken and repaired, and is also forged from cast iron.

    Crossbow
Scavenged many years ago after a skirmish with Ganon's forces, this crossbow once belonged to one of Severyn's comrades - either that or a moblin. The wood is dried and splintered, but not overly so, though iron bands have been added to both reinforce the aging weapon as well as increase the velocity of the bolts it fires. Said bolts are made from either steel or iron, and stored within a leather-and-wooden tube that is fastened at Severyn's hip.

    Severyn's Armor
Over the years, Severyn has made continuous modifications to his attire. When the war first began, it was little more than a light quilted doublet, a rough burlap shirt, and simple trousers. Since then, it has been added upon and changed. Most recently, he has incorporated pleated leather spaulders, iron-plated leather gloves and boots, as well as a light steel-and-leather breastplate. One of the more elaborate additions over the years has been the overcoat he dons. This coat is crafted from light leather and cloth, and reinforced with 4-in-1 welded iron links. A heavy leather belt is strung across his chest; it is to this belt that his scabbard is affixed.

    Severyn's Helmet
In addition to his armor, Severyn has created his own helmet from bits and pieces of discarded armor over the years. Initially a piece of burlap cloth that covered his nose and mouth, it has since evolved to incorporate a mail coif as well as a light iron crown piece. Beneath the chain mail is a layer of cloth that serves little purpose beyond comfort. He only dons his helmet when combat is imminent; otherwise, he either carries it or attaches it to his belt.

    Appearance
Standing over six feet tall and weighing nearly 200 pounds, Severyn is an imposing figure of considerable strength and tenacity. In his youth, he toiled endlessly in his father's fields, lending him a degree of strength that has persisted even through adulthood. His form is well-toned and powerful, but it bears the scars of the war in Southern Hyrule.

His hair is rather long, extending just beyond his shoulders. In his youth, it was a dark brown, almost black, but streaks of gray have begun to form around his temples. He normally keeps it tied back in a lose, functional ponytail, which he secures using simple twine. His face bears the shadow of a dark brown beard, which he occasionally shaves.

Among his most striking features are his eyes and brow. Even when he's cheerful, his brow forms an almost permanent scowl. His steel gray eyes are piercing to say the least, and on more than one occasion he has avoided conflict by staring down his opponent alone.

The most glaring flaw in his appearance can be found on the right side of his face. Years ago, he was struck by a moblin's club on the side of the head, causing the side his face to be caved in ever so slightly. A large scar dominates that side of his face as well. This impact has also affected his hearing negatively.

    Personality
Severyn's personality has been shaped and molded by the flow of time and the experiences of his past. In his younger days, he was brash, foolhardy, and filled with bravado that for all intents and purposes should have gotten him killed. Time has smoothed him out, however, and the once ambitious and foolish boy has become a more somber, wizened man.

Severyn has no love for violence. Truly, he never has been one for fighting. However, when Ganon's hordes swept through Southern Hyrule seventeen years ago, he was forced to take up arms and fight. These experiences have haunted him since, and he is visited by nightmares each time he drifts into a fitful sleep. Perhaps his most traumatizing experience was the trek from his home to the Eastern Caverns. More so than the violence of combat, the sight of women, men, and children suffering and dying from disease, dehydration, and hunger disturbed him.

In the time since then, he has come to terms with his memories. He no longer avoids battle, but neither does he seek it. Unfortunately, he and his fellow refugees are under constant assault from Ganon's armies, and each day brings a new challenge. Maybe the moblins will dig a new tunnel, or perhaps the refugees' dead will rise as Stalfos. This keeps him on his toes, and he's rarely caught off-guard.

Intellectually, Severyn is no scholar. While he possesses a form of practical wisdom, he is by no means wise, and never claims to be. His humble upbringing prevented him from having ready access to literature from the north, and thus he does not have of the knowledge that northerners take for granted.

    Character History
Some thirty or so years ago, a Hylian and his wife laid claim to a plot of land in Southern Hyrule, just beyond the reaches of the desert lands. Here, they resigned to a life of peaceful labor. In time, the Hylian's wife became with child, and from her womb came a son. The Hylian named his son Severyn - "keeper" in the old tongue.

By the time he was old enough to walk and form words, Severyn worked in his father's fields. He grew strong, stronger than most of his kind. When he wasn't working, the boy would train with a blade, dreaming of one day becoming an adventurer and visiting the far lands.

As the years crept by, Severyn watched as his parents grew old and died. Unable to operate the farm on his own, he sold it to an interested buyer and traveled to the west. He wandered for a handful of years, making his way one day at a time. It was during these times that Ganon's invasion began in earnest. As the dark king's hordes blazed a trail of death through Southern Hyrule, Severyn and countless other young men were conscripted to fight.

Despite the valiance of their efforts, the Hylians could not stop Ganon's army. Each battle ended with a decisive loss, but somehow Severyn managed to survive. However, one night while camping, Severyn and his platoon were attacked. It was here that Severyn was struck by a moblin's club, knocking him unconscious.

He awoke nearly a full day later, his head throbbing with pain and his vision fading. Through the haze, he surveyed the carnage. All of his comrades, his brothers, were dead. Filled with anguish but in desperate need for help, Severyn gathered what he could - a sword and a crossbow - and set off toward the east. There, he joined with the great migration, and decided to stay with them.

Awesome, I love it. I especially like your focus on character development and story as opposed to game mechanics. We have those for those who enjoy them and its actually refreshing to see someone who's drive isn't heavily influenced by what treasure they are getting next. I approve, excellent job.
