Name: Scouring the Catacombs (Quest #2 in the line beginning with "Checking on the North)

Description: After investigating the strange and terrible stories of monsters in Northern Hyrule, Damien and Rogue will make their way into the Lost Woods. Deep within the mysterious forest, the unlikely pair will find what is the source of Northern Hyrule's recent terrors.

Without a guide who properly knows the lay of the land, the only reliable navigation method is to follow the intuition of the increasingly mysterious Damien Aurelius Faust, who claims he can feel the darkness as it grows in intensity. Therefore, as Link, the Green-clad Hero of Hyrule once navigated the forest by the sounds of its mystical tunes, Damien will navigate by following the unmistakable power of Ganon's servants.

Within the Lost Woods, Damien will lead Rogue to a small mountain. Once covered in lush vegetation, much like the rest of the forest, this large hilltop has mysteriously been cleared away. Atop it lies an old, somewhat ruined castle, which certainly did not exist before.

Past its outer curtain wall and through the outer bailey, the two travelers will enter the mysterious fortress's abandoned keep. Braving the horrors of the keep's dark passages, the two will stumble upon what appears to be a holy chapel to the nameless gods of the forest. However, hidden in this chapel is the entrance to a dark passageway leading deep below the forest floor.

Beneath the now barren hill lies hidden a mysterious, haunted network of caverns and catacombs. What should normally be a place of honored burial for the kings and princes of old is quite clearly a place of demented, evil mockery of life itself. Below this tainted earth dwell ghosts and monsters of the Abyss that shun the Goddesses of Hyrule.

At the end of this terrible labyrinth of cursed souls, Damien will find a passage that bombards his senses with a feeling Rogue could hardly even dream of understanding. Here, he feels the evil reach its pinnacle, for reasons he can quite accurately guess, and will very soon confirm.

Within this buried, concealed tunnel is another chapel, many times the size of that in the castle keep above him. Rather unlike the well lit altars to the gods, this temple is nothing but a dark, hateful tribute to Ganon, the King of Evil. Within this evil sanctuary is a cult of dark priests who are performing a black mass to resurrect one of Ganon's most faithful servants from the days of the War.

These priests wish to summon Damien's own father, Adrian Maximilian Faust, to the land of the living to once more carry out the errands of his Dark Lord.

Prerequisite: User must have [/u]Demon Soul acquired

Within the essences of those few who have been touched by darkness rests the power to summon the souls of beasts from within the self. As Damien explores the limits of his dark powers, he will uncover the weakest of his shapeshifting abilities: the Soul of Keese. With this technique, Damien can transform himself into a large, generic (i.e. not fire or ice) keese. The wings of this keese are dark, crimson red, matching the inner lining of his cloak.

When Damien shapeshifts, his gear melts away, and his body become that of the large keese. His cloak becomes his wings, and he is able to remain in this form for as long as his magical endurance can keep him. Specifically, he can maintain sustained flight for thirty seconds, and can remain in keese form for a maximum of two minutes.

After transforming, Damien must wait another minute before using this technique again.

For any users with a Power of 4 or above:

While in keese form, the user's character has the ability to perform a Wing Smash. While airborne, the player's keese will flap its wings and charge forward, its dark magic illusion leaving a sort of blue afterimage as it speeds along. This attack can be used to tackle enemies, knocking them back and/or into the air.

When using the Wing Smash, the user will travel thirty feet in a straight line, unable to alter his direction. If an enemy is hit, he will continue to move forward, as his foe will be knocked back with surprising force. However, if the player's keese form impacts a solid barrier that he cannot break through, he will be stunned and transform into his normal form.

After using the Wing Smash, the player will change back into his natural form in mid-air, and fall back to the ground, though with enough control to avoid injury.

Unless the transformation is ended prematurely, the Soul of Keese technique cannot be used again until the one-minute cooldown time has passed. If the player has been in the keese form for thirty seconds, then the cooldown time will be thirty seconds. Up to one minute, the cooldown time will be equal to the time spent in keese form.

Rogue: 50 Rupees (Treasures to be decided)
