Chimera heard the commotion upstairs, and using the table she had been hiding behind before, rammed it against the ground floor door. That'd make sure none of the Redeads got in down there.

"Coming in upstairs. Guard door." Chimera wasn't really comfortable trusting this girl after such a short time, but there were more dangerous threats about.

The gerudo raced up the stairs, seeing a Rito and Hylian breaking into the building. Both were armed, thus dangerous. The Rito was having more luck, so she went for him first. She slashed out, using a power beam, following it with a Jump attack, hoping to stun him with the shockwave.

Abigail blinked and stared. "What?" she started, even as the Gerudo turned to the stairs. "You're going to leave me alone with these... things?" By the time she had even finished the second sentence she was talking to the air. Lovely.

Worse yet the ghastly sounds the figures were making outside was growing worse and louder, from what she could hear from the shattered windows. It seemed like the commotion that had drawn the warrior upstairs had also attracted these unholy... things. She really couldn't think of another word for them, the monsters, but they did bear a slight resemblance to the description of "Redeads" from what studying she had done. But weren't they too fast for that?

She shook her head and scanned the area. The door that had been blocked was rattling slightly but it wasn't going to open any time soon. She turned...

And was greeted by the sight of another red-eyed monstrosity shambling around, then seeing her shortly after she noticed it. She gripped her hiking stick and took it in both hands as the terrible figure broke into a run and lunged at her.

She swung and caught it in the side of the head, knocking it into a nearby bookcase. It staggered, attempting to right itself. Abby hesitated. Maybe she shouldn't kill it...? Maybe that was enough?

No. It was not. Another figure, drawn to the noise, ran through and also assaulted her. She hit it with a backswing and, as it staggered back and the first one recovered to step forward again, let loose a Spin Attack, knocking both flat on their backs.

It was then that she came to the conclusion... no, perhaps more of a realization, an acceptance, that these things weren't human. They weren't anything natural. There wasn't a trace of fear, or anger, or anything in their eyes as they tumbled to the ground.

Abigail stepped back, then turned and ran up stairs. Before she even reached the top she used what spare breath she had to cry, "There's more of them down here!" as she raced up them...

She came across the scene of the gerudo attacking a Rito, another, older man to the side.

Kalik had begun to aid the man from falling into the hell beneath where hands were all too willing to rip their souls and mortal forms asunder. Fate (as well as some crazy bitch) seemed unwilling to allow it, as before the deed was accomplished a tan-skinned attacker launched a beam and then herself at him.

Drawing upon all of his strength and reflexes, the Rito rolled hard to the right and out of the way of the beam, but the wave caught him before he was free of it's grasp. He tumbled into the wall opposite the girl and his ally, barely managing to recover before a follow-up attack that was sure to follow.

Instead he found the girl at the same place her strike had landed, holding her stance, a mistake he was sure to exploit. He knew she was fast and almost impossibly strong, only he was much faster. Flicking his wrist three times, an identical number of needles appeared in his hand and; after pushing off the wall, soon both him and the needles launched forward. One at each leg and the last at her head; she was too skilled to let them land but that would also mean the amazon would lose her footing while dodging, something the Rito sprinting at full tilt after his needles was all too ready to exploit with feints and false directions.

Chimera held her stance defensively, at the ready as she watched his motions. She read his appearance, seeing deft limbs and needles spawn to his hands. Needles… an interesting weapon of choice… He flicked his wrist, and her mind snapped into her battleready reflexes, immediately ducking to get under the headshot, while using her shield to block the two legshots. He had blatantly charged her, but apparently the man underestimated her capabilities.

Chimera launched herself into a helm splitter immediately after blocking the needles, jumping high enough to dodge his attack and take a swipe at his head. Unfortunately, given his speed, he managed to get out from under her as she completed the slash, though this didn’t mean her power beam didn’t send out a blast downwards, smashing through the floorboards below. As she landed on the other side of the hole, she saw the man dangling from the ledge and reached her shield arm down, grasping him by the collar and roughly pulling him in front of her. A decent hostage.

She placed her blade at his back and spoke out. “Make movement, ally dies.” She said, ensuring she kept her eyes on both the hostage and bird man, at the ready to impale her hostage at a moment’s notice.

(Post skipping and bunnying passed by Senpai prior, so it’s all good :3)

Abigail watched as the skirmish progressed for a bit before remembering the terrible creatures downstairs. She shook her head as the Gerudo from earlier took the older man hostage. Head now cleared, she found her voice again.

"Hey, what are you doing?! We have bigger problems right now! Those things are getting in, so if we don't leave now we'll all be stuck up here with them!"

As if to accentuate her point, the sounds of strained moans, and lurching, unsteady footsteps drifted up from below, undoubtedly evidence of the incoming monster horde's terrible fury... or worse, its voracious appetite...

The sounds of battle rang above his head for a moment before Balder felt a rough pull around his neck that left his heart in his stomach, and his only-just-regained breath where he had hung moments before. The dazed and wheezing man felt the cold of steel against his back as his feet touched the floor, every inch of his mind fighting the urge to crumple to a heap. A rough female voice spoke behind him, providing yet another shock to the poor assassin. It was embarrassing to have been taken hostage, but by a girl? The shame was almost too much to bear. Another voice, one he would describe as succulently feminine, cried out as, with a slight shake of his head, Balder closed his eyes, his entire mind fixated on the blade against his back. Now, all he needed was a small distraction, anything to draw his captor’s attention. He could hear the pleading girl’s words fade from the air, and for a single second, silence pressed down on the four like a weight, the deep breath before the plunge. No breath, no gentle creaks betraying the uncontainable shakes. And then, the moans came, dread washing over the room as the sound echoed up from inside the building. The cool metal quivered for an instant, the gut wrenching sounds stealing the girl’s attention for that fatal second. Balder released his knees as he threw his weigh forward, dropping like a stone. A searing pain shot through his left shoulder as the hungry blade bit in slightly. While the cut wasn’t deep enough to do much harm, Balder was taken aback slightly at the Gerudo’s reflexes. He had underestimated the girl; something wasn’t going to make the mistake of doing again. As the Hylian hit the ground, he hurled the remaining momentum in a roll, carrying himself out of blade length. He stood, his breath coming in ragged gasps, his eyes bloodshot and wide.

“All we can do now is dig in and try to hold our own. Regardless of how we all may feel about one another, right now the fact is we’re going to die unless we work together. I’d suggest we start by destroying the stairs and blocking any of the windows up here.” Balder moved towards the door as he threw a glace back over his shoulder. “Or, you can stay here and end up lunch. It’s your choice.”

Kalik leapt under his attacker and slid into the opposite side of the hall, being forced to use his hands to not hit the wall. She had the other man as a hostage, and in truth he wasn't sure as to whether he had an ally in this place, but it provided an opportunity to take out his attacker; just one needle through the eye would mean victory, but perhaps it was best if the man lived as well. He needed just a moment, one where she was distracted or lost attention for a second. This too soon came, but he cursed himself for his failure, for he had shot too soon.

The needle meant for her temple instead passed within a hair's width of her face as she reached down to stab, and he prepared another for a second shot. It seemed as though she wasn't the one who wanted to kill him the most, as two twisted and revolting figures ran up the steps toward the motley crew.

These were beings he knew wouldn't fall from just a needle in the eye or throat, they far to unconcerned with their own injuries to be so weak. Instead it would take massive damage to truly kill them, and even then perhaps they simply couldn't die. Whatever the case he was sure he didn't want to join them. The Rito swung his arm forward, flicking his wrist one more time almost as the arc reached it's peak and launching both needles at the redeads, one at an Achilles tendon each.

Chimera plunged forward with her sword as her hostage tried to get away. He succeeded, but the gerudo had gotten him a little. She also manage to use her lunge to evade a needle thrown at her head.

Once her hostage had managed to get away, he'd said... A lot of words. She didn't understand all of them, but she was pretty sure she got the general idea. It was a warning.

This was when Chimera started realizing a trend. The normal people were only fighting in retaliation to the re-deads... So perhaps they weren't enemies... The Gerudo reached down and pulled up a floor board, handing it to Abby, while also taking nails from under the floor. They were certainly in shoddy position, but if done well, it'd hold. "I kill. You block."

She pointed to the walls along the sides of the door the Re-deads were getting in, before turning to the zombie looking up through the whole in the floor and slashing at it, sending a decapitating blade. The girl then sat next to the hole, at the ready to slice any creature that tried to come up.

Abigail blinked a couple times as events transpired. Needles were once again thrown, the hostage released, the board thrust into her hands, but the unrelenting, unnatural sound of inhuman footsteps sent a shiver up her spine, her questions dissipating.

As the needles came down on the two figures shambling up the steps, they seemed rather unfazed; being an unfeeling monster would tend to reduce the effect of piercing weapons, she assumed. But all the same, they were only marginally slowed by the assault. Perhaps if the Rito had been able to attack from behind then maybe he'd have gotten somewhere, but...

At any rate the Redeads presently sped up their gait a bit, taking the stairs as quickly as they could. They could move awfully fast for monsters.

As they approached, Abigail tried to grip both the plank and her walking stick, and clumsily thrust them out at the foes. The plank hit, sending one of them tumbling over, but the stick only grazed. The remaining redead lashed out at her, giving her a nasty-looking scrape on her arm. Abigail swung, knocking it to the side, then thrust, putting it off balance, before she stepped back from the door.
