    Name: Redo (pronounced "Ray-doe")

    Race: Kokiri

    Age: 74

    Gender: Male

    Place of Origin: Kokiri Forest

    PWC: 1/4/3

    Treasures and Rupees:
    Racial Perks:
    Eternal Youth
    Fairy Companion
    Navigation
    Language of Fauna

    Obtained:
    Book of Mudora (15)
    Gnat Hat (25)
    Keese (15)
    Compass (45)

    Rupees:
    5

    Equipment:
Kokiri Tunic: The standard garb of the Kokiris, Redo's set is fern green in color and well worn.

Spear: A fallen branch of the Deku Tree that has been trimmed and fashioned into a light, but sturdy weapon. While Redo would rather go around a fight, when pressed he'll fight defensively and use the spear's reach to keep enemies from getting too close.

Slingshot: A gift from the Kokiri tribe. Redo's not particularly proficient with its use, but he can still aim well enough to hit switches. He'll generally use whatever's lying around for ammunition, but has a few stones on hand just in case there's nothing available.

Backpack: A standard pack that has been treated to be weather resistant to keep Redo's various books and notes safe from the elements.

Journals: These are gifts from a recently deceased friend who was a Rito named Tavili. One is a travelogue complete with hand-drawn maps, and the other contains a wide range of myths and legends written in their original script. It seems that they also contain some secrets coded into the text.

Bed Roll: While he does have a house in the village, Redo spent so much time in the forest that this was necessary before leaving on his journey.

Knife: A small knife that's not appropriate for combat, but is still a useful tool.

Rope: 50 feet of hemp rope.

Book of Mudora: Tavili gave this to Redo many years back when the two first became friends. Redo mainly uses it to decipher myths written in other languages.

Gnat Hat: Some years after they first met, Tavili found evidence that there was at least one Picori settlement located in the forest. Once found they were able to barter for a few items which is where Redo received this hat. While he initially only used it for exploration purposes, Redo eventually started using it to help train his skills with the spear by sparing with insects that were suddenly larger than him.

Compass: Redo received this along with Tavili's journals. While its ability to point north is mostly unneeded for Redo, being able to locate lost or hidden items will surely prove to be invaluable.

    Pet:
While they are not really pets, I'm going to detail Redo's Fairy and Keese companions here.

Fairy: A forest fairy named Note, she's been Redo's constant companion since as long as he can remember. She's very organized and helps keep Redo from ignoring the world around him when he focuses on researching. Note glows blue, with the specific shade depending on her mood and has silver hair and eyes along with a white dress (which all reflect her glow). She's interested in history, though she tends to avoid bringing it up with Redo too often lest he never talk about anything else.

Keese: A few years ago Redo stumbled across a wounded Keese and proceeded to nurse it back to health. Afterwards the Keese took to following him around, so Redo decided to train it. Using the Book of Mudora Redo decided to name the Keese "Camazotz" (or Zotz for short) by looking through the various translations for "death bat". By using the Gnat Hat, Redo can ride on Zotz around obstacles, though this method of flight is too inefficient for long distance travel. When resting, Zotz sleeps hangs of the back of Redo's backpack.

    Appearance:
Redo stands at 4'1" and has a wiry build. He has shaggy, auburn hair and mint green eyes. His tunic show signs of having been ripped and repaired a few times though his boots are brand new.

Redo's backpack is weighted down with a few books with his bedroll latched on top. Redo is right handed, so whenever his spear is not in use (either as a weapon or a walking stick) it is clipped to the left side of the backpack with the rope latched onto the right.

When not traveling around (and sometimes even when he is), Redo usually has a book (or two) in hand with Note reading over his shoulder. He tends to have a smile on his face, though recently it seems somewhat strained.

    Personality:
Whenever his direct attention isn't needed, Redo tends to get lost in his thoughts and research to the point of not noticing anything more than a couple feet away. He's a very enthusiastic history buff and is quite willing to share his knowledge to anyone that shows interest (though he has trouble detecting when that interest was feigned).

On a related note, when he focuses on something he gives it his complete attention. This can be somewhat disconcerting as he can seem to go from completely oblivious to hyper attentive when his focus shifts (Note and sometimes Zotz will make sure to stay at least partially aware of their surroundings in case Redo attention is needed).

While he still retains most of the childish nature of the Kokiri, Redo has a (somewhat) more mature view on the past and how to apply it to the future. His personal goal for questing is to obtain as much (and as many different types of) knowledge as possible so he can impart that knowledge to his fellow Kokiri. And to find lost artifacts since that tends to be useful somehow.

    Background:
Redo's first few decades were the standard Kokiri fare; he made it to the village, met his fairy and played games with the others. One day a young, adventuring Rito named Tavili visited the village, where he traded some historical tales in exchange for general knowledge of the area. The stories fascinated Redo and he offered to act as a guide through the forest in order to hear some more.

The two spent a few weeks traveling together and quickly struck up a friendship based on a shared (if newfound on Redo's part) interest in history and legends. When Tavili eventually set off to leave the forest, Redo requested to go with him. Unfortunately, the Deku Tree stated that both were too inexperienced for Redo to make such a journey safely, so they decided to hold off for a while. The two kept in correspondence and Tavili would send new stories as he came across them. At one point he even sent Redo a Book of Mudora so that Redo could translate foreign texts on his own.

Years passed with Redo exploring the forest while imagining himself as taking part of the various stories that he read. Eventually Tavili returned with some exciting news. He had found evidence that there might be a Picori settlement somewhere in the forest and wanted the two of them to find it. Thanks to Redo's now extensive knowledge of the forest (and his relative shortness) the two were ultimately successful and were able to actually meet with some Minish. In exchange for a promise to not reveal the location of the village Redo and Tavili were both given a gift. Redo's was a magical cap that would shrink him down to the size of a Minish known as a Gnat Hat.

After their adventure Tavili set off again as he needed to do some research before he could decide on where to go next. In the meantime Redo returned to traveling through the forest, though now he would don the Gnat Hat in order to explore places that he previously had merely passed through. He would also visit the Minish to learn more about them. It was around this time that Redo came to a startling (to him at least) conclusion. The stories that had captivated him so weren't just stories at least some of them had actually happened. This further fueled Redo's desire to eventually leave the forest to explore new places, just so that he could find more articles of proof that his stories mattered.

Unfortunately, by the time Tavili had found a suitable expedition for the two to go on (which was somewhat difficult do to Tavili using his wings to actually get to most of the places he visited and Redo lacking them) the war with Ganon had started and Redo didn't have the necessary combat experience to travel safely. As such, in addition to his explorations, Redo made sure to start practicing with a weapon along with techniques on how to avoid a battle completely if possible.

For this Redo tried to model his fighting style off of various techniques that he had read about. Between his development here and news of the war Redo came to another (to him) stunning conclusion. He could use the knowledge of the past to predict what could happen in the future. Even after Ganon disappeared Redo was aware of the possibility that he (or some other evil) could show up in the future. Redo now had a goal in mind; while he still wanted to explore the world and find evidence of significant historical events, he wanted to use the knowledge he gained to help better protect the forest and its denizens.

Finally, about a month ago, Redo received another letter from Tavili. Unfortunately, it was news of Tavili's death. Along with the letter came a couple journals and a Compass with a request to use them to explore the world, even though Tavili wouldn't be there himself.

Distraught at the news of his friend's death, Redo went into mourning, lamenting over both the loss of Tavili, and the fact that Redo never even got the chance to try and prevent it. Eventually Note was able to help Redo move on and started to look through the journals. Some of the phrasing seemed odd, which allowed Redo to realize that Tavili had left coded messages detailing an artifact Tavili had been attempting to locate along with the necessary preparations needed to even start looking for it.

While it would take time to decode more of the messages, Redo had enough to go on that he could begin his journey.

Everything checks out. The involvement of the war and other races was a very nice touch. Approved.~
