    Equipment:

Owen, having spent his life as a spoiled noble child raised in the beautiful Hyrule Castle-Town, has had his plentiful share of possessions. All his life his parents have given him whatever it is he asks of them, and even then some, causing many of the children who know Owen to develop a fond sense of dislike towards him. Whether it is the expensive looking clothes that adorn him, the elegant dagger often carried on his waste, or the many play things littering his room, Owen has it all.

Of all of his spoils, one in particular has always been Owens favorite, one that he has with him wherever he goes. This item is his bunny hood, which has been expertly sewn into an expensive black tunic by one of Castle-Town’s best tailors. Owen had begged his parents for this, and of course, was granted his desire.

    Appearance:

Owen’s appearance is that of a well pampered, spoiled little Hylian boy. It is evident, just by looking at the boy, that his parents treat him as their prized possession. Starting with his head you will see well groomed, straight blond hair that reaches his eyebrows and barely covers his ears. It is obvious that his parents take him often to the barber to maintain this pristine look, something not afforded by a majority of Hyrule’s citizens. Owen’s face, which for the most part is fair and healthy, is marred only by occasional bruises (which he claims are caused by school bullies) and a nose that obviously looks as if it had been broken once or twice.

Owen has a small, skinny body. Not muscular, yet fit; (this has always been the reason, or so he tells his parents, that he gets pushed around in school.) True or not, his parents do the best they can to dress their little angel in the finest linens and silks their precious rupees can afford. The most expensive piece on Owen’s person is his black bunny hood, which had been sewn to a fine black linen tunic that had been embroidered with silver.

Of all his features, one will stick out the most. Owen is missing his left pinky. To his parents, he had explained that a dog had bitten it off on the way to school, however this was certainly not true.

    Personality:

Owens personality is that of a devious, spoiled little brat. He may not be who you think he is if you only have the chance to see him around his parents or others he tries to hide his true self from. Selfish, cruel, and fake are words that would accurately describe him, and I can tell you this: Owen is definitely not the sweet, innocent, do-no-wrong child his parents think he is.

Owen has himself entangled in a vicious ring of underground crime and unlawfulness, and has been since he turned ten. You might ask yourself, why does he do this? He has everything that any other Hylian boy could ever hope to have, so what would drive him to steal and sell goods for petty change? The answer: thrill, addiction, whatever you want to call it. This double life he chooses to live has caused Owen to become the two faced, hypocritical delinquent he is.

Owen also acts tough, nearly all the time. He hates to show weakness, and he will never show fear, that is, unless he is so terribly frightened that he cannot help it. He often hides his emotions from others, and will, at times, fake other emotions to lead someone on. Even if he is faced by a much larger boy wishing to do him harm, he will act as if he is much tougher than he really is.

    Residence:

Owen lives with his parents in a luxurious two story home in the rich areas of Hyrule Castle-Town. In this home he has a large bedroom, outfitted by his parents with everything a Hylian boy might desire. His bed is made of beautiful black walnut wood, with a plush feather mattress and elegant silk covers on top. Owen’s closet is also very large and stocked full of elegant dressings. Scattered around the floor and in large wooden boxes are many toys that his parents have spoiled him with over the years.

    Pet:

When Owen was eleven, he begged his parents to get him a parrot and a cage to place in his room. After hours of promising he would take care of it his parents granted their precious son what he desired. This parrot Owen named Sinister, and it has definitely lived up to its name. For some reason, Sinister only likes Owen. If any other person tries to get near Sinister, reaches out to touch him, or just looks at him directly, Sinister will squawk obnoxiously, ruffle it’s feathers, and even bite if they are close enough. This amuses Owen greatly, and he often perches Sinister on his shoulder as he parades around Castle-Town.

    Backstory:

Since Owen was born, he has lived in one of Hyrule Castle-Town’s finest neighborhoods. His family, which consists of only he and his parents, have been one of the wealthiest among their neighbors and as a consequence, Owen has been terribly spoiled. So spoiled, in fact, that he developed a snobbish “better-than-you” attitude towards most of his peers which, unfortunately, caused many of them to dislike him. Since Owen was a baby, he has been given every luxury a boy could possibly need, and has been granted every desire he has had. His parents, with a lack of foresight, have done this with the best interests for Owen, wishing to do whatever they can out of pure love for their son.

Part of the issue here, is that Owen is a master manipulator. From an early age he has shown his parents the side of him they had always wanted in a child, sweet, appreciative, and well behaved. However, as his peers know very well, he acts very differently around those he feels he has a sense of superiority over. It started with small fights and self-insertion of dominance among them as a small boy, and as Owen aged, it only got worse. However, Owen was particularly careful that he didn’t take things too far, for if one of the children reported to their mothers what Owen had been doing to them, word would no doubt get to his parents, and that would be unacceptable.

As he grew older, Owen craved something more. He was growing bored with his life and began to seek excitement, something to stifle this craving that grew within him. Shortly after his tenth birthday, Owen ran into a person who would forever alter not only Owen’s way of life, but also Owen himself. The man had no name, or at least didn’t share it, but had a proposition for the boy. The man had been looking for someone young, athletic, and quick, and Owen fit this description perfectly. It was then that Owen entered into the vicious cycle of law breaking and thrill seeking.

Now Owen began to live a double life, one where, at home he maintained the perfect persona of an innocent child, and on the streets, lead a secret life that would shame his family name. He became a thief, and an exceptionally skilled one, utilizing his innocent looks to never draw suspicion and his agility and cunning to finish the jobs quickly. He could slip into tight places others couldn’t, tread quietly where others would make a ruckus; in essence, he was a natural pro. This wasn’t to say that the job had no risks, in fact, it was quite the contrary; very often, Owen would get roughed around by his superiors in the crime ring. They would laugh as they broke Owen’s nose, or violently knocked the air out of him leaving him as a crying heap in the alleyways of the markets. However, these happenings never deterred him.

This life gave Owen the thrills he had been seeking, giving him adrenal rushes each and every time he committed a crime. It became addicting, Owen loved it. Additional thrills were obtained by keeping it all a secret from his parents and others who respected him, and also by intimidating his peers to the point that they were terrified to cross him. Whenever Owen would come home with a bruise, broken nose, or bloodied face his parents would always question him, asking their beloved son who had done this to him. His answers were always false, yet convincing.

When Owen was of the age of twelve, one instance caused Owen to re-think his life. One of his bosses, a particularly foul and terrifying man, had tasked Owen with procuring a particularly valuable case of potions from a witch that lived in the area. Owen, who had rarely failed before, was unsuccessful in acquiring these potions. To his boss, this was unacceptable. These potions were very important to him, so important in fact, that he became furious with Owen. When Owen returned and told the news, his boss had Owen held to a table; he was going to teach Owen what the consequences of failing were. Grabbing a pair of rusted shears, he placed Owens left pinky inside of them and slowly, with a crooked smile on his face, began to put pressure on the shears. Blood trickled down his hand, Owen screamed, fear in his eyes. Again he pressed harder, cutting into his muscles and tendons, Owen screamed louder. Finally, cutting through the bone, Owen’s finger was removed. Laughing, the man threw it to the dogs.

Hysterical, Owen ran home to his parents, blood dripping down his arm. Upon arriving home, his parents, distraught, inquired of their son what had happened. Crying intensely, Owen struggled to tell his parents that a dog had bit it off on his way home from school. Hugging their son in shock, they reassured him that everything was going to be alright, and got him the medical attention he needed.

After he lost his pinky, Owen resolved to never again involve himself with the crime ring. However, this resolve soon evaporated, as the addiction sank in. The desire for adrenaline and thrill tugged at him constantly, he could not push it out of his mind. Three weeks past when finally he was broken by his carnal desires. Defeated, he returned to the alleys and the crooks and resumed his old ways.

Now, one year later, Owen is still regrettably stuck living a double life. He lives in fear, with his hand as a constant reminder. Fear of failure. Fear, that one day, he may die in a rush of adrenaline.

Wow, that was quite the interesting character Toko! I quite enjoyed seeing a character in his young teens, and that he isn't as black and white as you first think. Definitely accepted!
