    Name: Olias Sylpheed Storm
    Race: Deku

    Gender: Male
Place of Origin: Lost Woods (Business Scrub)

    Height: 2'9”
    Weight: 60 lbs.
    Instrument: Deku Pipes
    Equipment:
Weapons: Giantkiller (Ranged), Crimson Mantle (Close Quarters Combat), Iron Dust & Lead Pellet Pouch (Utility)

Giantkiller: Shepard’s Sling – 2' – Materials: Hemp Fiber Braid – Hard Leather Pouch – Linen Wrapped Retention Cord – Double Loop Knot (Quartz Stone Core) Release Cord

Perhaps one of the most inconspicuous weapons in existence, the Shepard’s Sling is perfect for Olias. Preferring not to be near any sort of threat to his health, the Sling is an effective way of literally hurling Olias' magic across the battlefield. Designed to throw rocks, and other small objects such as seeds, Olias combines his magic with this ranged weapon to wreak havoc, should the event arise where his magic is needed. Giantkiller, aptly named because it is capable of felling even a Goron in experienced hands, is composed of sturdy Hemp Fiber. Inelastic, Hemp Fiber makes an impressive construction material for slings, especially because it resists rotting.

At the center of the braid is a hard leather pouch, that contains a small inlet where a projectile can be held. Once said projectile is placed within this pocket, the braid is doubled onto itself, the handler slipping their fingers through the loop at the end of the Retention Cord, and holding onto the end of the Release Cord. In this case, the Release Cord is weighted by a bright quartz stone, approximately an inch in diameter. The user of the sling then swings the sling in circles, building momentum for the time when the projectile is to be released. When it is time for the object to be released, the sling is swung and with a flick of the wrist the pouch is pulled away at the precise moment. The stone, or other small object, flies tangent to the circle made by the pouch's rotation. Ranges of up to 400 meters can be achieved, which is rivaled only by a longbow capable of draw weights of over 150 pounds of force.

When Giantkiller is not being used as a weapon, the hemp sling is wrapped around his wast as a makeshift belt, Olias threading the quartz stone of the release cord through the finger holes of the retention cord. This conceals its function as a weapon, making it appear to be only a hemp belt. However, should the need arise, the Giantkiller can be removed from his waist with ease, Olias only needing to pull the release cord. Finally, should an enemy come to close to Olias, the sling can be used as a whip-like weapon, the quartz stone on the release cord making an effective weighted end, capable of doing significant damage if enough momentum is built up.

Crimson Mantle: Weighted Chain Mantle – 2'5” – Materials: Steel Link Cape – Lead Weights – Flax Linen Cover

The Crimson Mantle is a Weighted Chain Mantle that hangs over Olias, reserved for close quarters combat. Made of steel links, the Crimson Mantle can serve as both a netting weapon as well as a defense against some types of attack. There are five weights that dangle from the end of the mantle, approximately 60 grams in weight. These can be used as a weapon, by swinging the end of the cape in a large arc, or as a means of wrapping the mantle around a person or object. The weighted mantle has several purposes; the distraction, entangling, or disarming of an opponent. Because of its multi-functions, and its unobtrusive nature, Olias chooses this as his weapon of choice when in close quarters.

The Crimson Mantle is covered in a flax linen cloth, that is dyed a deep maroon. The mantle is named after its coloring. The cover is one single sheet, with pouches on the inside of the material, that house the lead weights of the chain part of this cape. Because the cover does not encompass the entire chain portion of his mantle, the chain links can be seen from Olias' front, but not from his back. The cloth serves another purpose as well; it masks the sounds that the chain link makes when shifted, muffling it to a very faint tinkling.

Iron Dust & Lead Pellet Pouch: Molded Lead Bullets/Scrap Iron Filings – Bullet Weight: 52 g – Storage: Leather Pouch, Hemp Cord Drawstring and Belt

This is a simple pouch that hangs at Olias' side, the belt looped over the opposite shoulder. The pouch contains both fine iron dust, taken from scrap iron, but lead pellets as well. These pellets are used as projectiles in Giantkiller, when Olias is not using one of his Ember or Scent Seeds. Because of their weight and shape, one of these pellets is capable of being slung approximately 350 to 400 meters in distance, though Olias usually does not have any need to be slinging anything that far. Although the pouch houses quite a few bullets, they are by no means an infinite commodity. Because of this, Olias finds it necessary to recover his bullets, if at all possible.

The iron dust contained in this pouch has several uses. Perhaps its most obvious function is that of a means of blinding an attacker, Olias merely needing to throw a handful at any man foolhardy enough to try an attack him. However, the iron dust has other functions within battle; for one, in strong light, the iron dust can be used to reflect this light, serving as a distraction. The dust can also be enchanted by Olias' magic, making it into a powerful deterrent. When he has the time, Olias takes scrap metal and files it down, placing the resulting fine dust into this pouch.

    Clothing and Armor:

Olias refuses to wear most armor, because he feels that it is inappropriate for a salesman to be wearing armor. That said, he is not so naive as to think that armor is not a bad idea in these dangerous times. Still, the Crimson Mantle serves as his only piece of what could be considered armor. Because of its chain link nature, his mantle is highly effective against attacks that rely on thrusts or weak slashing, the chains preventing his body from actually being cut or pierced. However, this is not the case with weapons that utilize blunt damage, or sufficiently heavy slashing weapons. This is because these weapons, rather than pierce his body, aim instead to break or bludgeon it.

Olias has a rather odd taste in clothing. He wears striped balloon shorts, colored in black and white. These pants are made of fine cotton, provided him by the Business Scrub Association. The come up just above his knees, giving him the appearance of having abnormally large sized thighs. Olias also does not wear a suit, so to speak, wearing a vest that seems to never be buttoned. The vest is made of fine flax material, and is particularly well made damask. Damask is a reversed fabric, containing patters created by weaving. The vest itself is black, while the designs, large, repeating Deku heads, are woven in white thread. The vest hangs to just below his waist, the front extended into pointy tails. The buttons on the vest are also Deku heads, albeit much smaller and made of silver.

Over this clothing hangs Olias' maroon colored mantle, which, despite being made of metal, is not a terrible weight upon him. Clasping the mantle is a brooch made of metal twisted around a green rupee. The metal is unfinished iron, still retaining its worn, gray, almost black, color. This is the same material that wraps both Olias' wrists, though these bracelets appear unusually like manacles, rather than some sort of fashionable accessory. Finally, Olias wears a red sash around his forehead, the same color of his mantle. The sash comes down to just above his brow, and extends to the very top of his forehead. Because of this, the headband forces his “hair” to stand straight up.

    Physical Description:

Olias is a relatively average height for his race, standing at 2'9”. Given that, he is slightly overweight for his height, though his body does not show signs of it. This is mostly due to a larger water mass than most. Like most Business Scrubs, Olias has arms and hands; however, his body build is akin to that of the Deku Princess. While most Business Scrubs have rather orb-like bodies, their head and body essentially the one and the same, Olias has a head that sits atop a body, like most Deku Scrubs, but with arms as well. Olias' legs are also not as long as a normal Business Scrub's, being the average length as usual. In fact, the only things that seems to make Olias a Business Scrub are his keen sense of business, and his membership to the Business Scrub Association.

Olias is quite the remarkable scrub, having a rather peculiar appearance, in comparison to most scrubs. Most notable is his body color; rather than being a dark brown, his entire body is instead a darker yellow, almost golden color. Because of this, it is possible to see the grain of the wood of his body, as well as the knots within the wood. His mouth is a slightly darker color, containing more brown, but still an abnormally light color. This was not due to his heritage, however; rather, it is due to large amounts of time spent near and in water, though not completely submerged. This caused his color to lighten, and is the cause of his weight being slightly higher than a normal scrub. This also is the source of his next abnormality.

Olias does not have head leaves. Instead, he has branches that stem off from his head, which are very lightly leaved in yellow flowers. The branches shoot out from the top of his head, pointing straight towards the sky. The branches do not have offshoots themselves, being only singular branches. Each “strand” is extremely straight, with almost no bends, and stand at approximately three quarters of a foot into the air. Tamed by his headband, Olias' hair makes him to appear almost like some kind of delinquent scrub. This “hair” also replaces the neck leaves that a normal scrub would have. However, these are far better trimmed than his head sticks. Keeping them at a very small length, about an inch in length, these branches to not have flowers. Instead, they almost look like a spiked choker around his neck, only making his feral appearance more severe.

Olias has strangely large hands, larger than most Deku Scrubs. However, his hands are fairly dexterous, making up for their unwieldy size. Olias wears nothing on his hands, only save the manacles wrapped around his wrists. It seems that these have been permanently welded around his wrists, and have been there for a long time; they fit very tightly, as if Olias had grown into them. It is assumed that, due to their tightness, more water has been retained within his hands, which would cause their unnaturally large size.

Olias' face is thankfully unremarkable. However, he does like to keep a full face beard, sans the mustache. His beard extends from his temples, all the way down his jaw, and to his chin. Just like his neck branches, these branches are very well kept, Olias taking to the daily trimming of them- a business scrub has to look professional, of course. However, their color is slightly different, a lighter yellow, closer to that of the flowers that grow on the branches of his head. This gives him the appearance of having a radiant, yellow mane on his face. Aside from the beard, Olias has the typically round and smooth mouth of any other Deku Scrub, albeit at a lighter shade. Finally, his eyes are half-moons, giving him the constant appearance of being either bored or tired. Or both. His sash, that holds his “hair” up, extends to roughly an inch above his eyes.

    Personality:

Despite his rather odd, and perhaps even intimidating appearance on stage, Olias actually has an extremely tranquil personality when confronted one-on-one. Trained from an early age to show no weakness in a business proposition, Olias' face is almost always in “game-face” mode, showing very little emotion. This reflects the intense calm, or perhaps the intense indecision, within him. Appearing apathetic at almost all times, Olias's most often said words are probably “Do I look like I care?”, which he routinely says to old ladies, mothers, and small children. Olias just seems to be coasting, and doesn't appear to really be worried about much of anything that occurs around him; as long as he meets his monthly payments to the Business Scrub Association, Olias couldn't care less about those he deals with.

However, Olias does know how to please a crowd, as well as deceive it completely. Though Olias invariably loses most of the extra rupees he makes, he enjoys in the taking of rupees from those he likes to call “meatbags”. At his best, Olias is a convincing charlatan, using his magic, and other tricks, to utterly convince people into buying something that they don't need. With the proper flash here, dazzle there, Olias believes that anyone can convinced that whatever he is selling is absolutely vital to their existence. Perhaps it's the bright flashes of dust exploding in the air, or the intoxicating smell of Scent Seeds, that makes Olias capable of controlling the crowds as well as he can. Perhaps its his deep, baritone voice, which he projects by rolling his Deku Leaf up into a megaphone. Whatever it is, Olias has it – he is one of the most convincing salesmen in existence, as far as he's seen.

Because of his success, Olias tends to be rather arrogant. He believes that everyone, well almost everyone, is just a means to an end. Drawn by the very feeling of power that rupees give him, Olias sees most of the races of Hyrule to merely by meatbags, transporting his rupees for him. By his estimation, all the rupees in the world should be his, and solely his. In fact, the only ones he doesn't see as mere transport for money are other Deku Scrubs, and even at that he only finds worth in the ones that either give him some sort of advantage, or fuel his own ego.

However, because of his success, his arrogance, and more than the occasional scam, Olias tends to find himself fleeing from his own crowds, if he has too badly abused him. Olias has made many an enemy within the ranks of the gangs of Castle Town, and in other places of the world, and rightly so. Whatever he sells, it never seems to live up to what he says it will. Cheers for more invariably turn to roars of anger. Still, this serves only to bloat his ego even further. He takes thrill in the escape from these angry mobs – because people are often trying to take their vengeance upon him, Olias never sells in the same place twice, or at his flower. Never at his flower. Should he become too well known within any one part of Castle Town, he flies to another, or sometimes to a different City within Northern Hyrule. Never using his real name, and always working under the cover of night, the Hyrule Castle Guard seem to never be able to track him down.

Still, while Olias may be arrogant, and a charlatan, he is not the villain that most take him to be.
Certainly he cheats people of their money all the time, stealing from whoever he wishes. However, he primarily steals from the rich; to him, they are the ones who deserve their rupees the least. For those who actually need rupees, Olias always tells himself that he's letting them “borrow” rupees for awhile. Somewhere, deep inside him, Olias does, in fact, have a large amount of compassion, though it is mostly directed to the downtrodden of Castle Town. Olias also has a good deal of dignity, probably the only good side to his considerable ego. If it involves some sort of gain for him, Olias will always hold his end of the bargain. If, for instance, he is hired to assist a band in their adventures, he will stick with them until the end, at which point he will take his own share of rupees and depart, unless he particularly likes said group's company. He will not try to steal his companion's rupees, either – if he believes those rupees to be rightly earned, as opposed to the fat nobles of Castle Town, Olias will leave them be.

In many ways, Olias is still a child; his arrogance, his childish delight in the taking of things, and his sometimes naïve view of rightful ownership mask Olias' true personality, something he does not even know of himself. Because Olias had a childhood of slavery, he was never able to truly develop his emotions properly. Due to being able to call very little his own, Olias was always trying to hold onto what dignity, and meager possessions he had. Perhaps this is why Olias shows more compassionate to the poor than to anyone else, even if he still calls them “meatbags”. He is reminded of himself, each time he sees the poor being abused, especially during this time of crisis, and because of this he will almost always stand up in their defense, even should it call for battle. When no one is watching, and with great embarrassment, Olias travels, some nights, into the Goron Slums, giving rupees to the poor he finds there, using the small profit he makes. Though they do not know his face, or his name, Olias has made many a friend since his time within Castle Town.

    Backstory:

Born as the illegitimate child of a Deku nobleman living within the Deku Palace, Olias had a troubled childhood. In order to conceal the existence of his child, and not willing to simply kill him, Olias' father, Hayden Storm, sold him into slavery to the Business Scrub Association. Shady at best, the Business Scrub Association teaches not only small Deku children, interested in the world of extortion and business, for a small fee, but also buys newborn children as slaves, who are eternally bound into service to the Association. The only way to escape this servitude is to buy oneself out of slavery; however, this is near impossible, as the fee rises exponentially, becoming greater with each year the salve is alive, as they are more valuable to the Association.

Given into the hands of the Business Scrubs, Olias was raised from a very young age to work for the Business Scrub Association. It is for this reason that Olias has the same physiology as a Noble Scrub, but is a Business Scrub as well. During this time, Olias appeared just like any other Deku Child – dark wood, leaves on his head and neck, and relatively wide eyes. However, his eyes were the first to change, becoming melancholy in appearance. His first lesson was to never become emotionally attached to a customer; rupees are rupees, and everyone must be charged the same, or possibly more. As a young child, even Olias was able to tell this was morally reprehensible – however, each time he voiced this, he received swift verbal abuse from the other, free students, as well as a beating from the teacher. It was thus that Olias first began to mask his emotions, his eyes narrowing as he tried to show less and less emotion. Because Olias had to spend both day and night working, taking lessons during the night and doing manual labor for the Association during the night, Olias also received very little sleep, further compounding the sleepy appearance of his eyes.

As Olias grew older and older, he became one of the brightest students of the Association. However, because of his status, he remained a social outcast, and was continually mocked by his peers. Cursing the father he had never known, Olias spent sleepless nights silently weeping to himself, trying to salvage what little pride he had within himself. Not knowing his mother either, the only thing he could do was hold her rupee clasp in his hands, and rock back and forth, hoping each and every night that she, too, was thinking of him. As his emotions became more and more strained, both from pressure from the other students, as well as the physical exhaustion of working both day and night, Olias began to learn of the arcane arts when he had the time. As he sweeped the library floor of dust, he would remove novels and place them under his robes, secreting them back to his room and reading them under moonlight.

The years passed as Olias learned of the old magics. Seeking the spark within himself, Olias found it, and day by day, he became more and more adept at his magic. The first spell he learned was one that let him set things ablaze with a mere touch. The Fire Enchantment was fascinating to him; he was not afraid of the fire, as most Deku were. It was warm, full of life, and give him a light within the darkness. The next was the Ice Enchantment, and just as with the fire, Olias was intrigued by the biting cold. It refreshed him, brought sharpness to his mind. The final one was the power of the wind. He relished in the gusts of the Wind Enchantment, envied the wind's freedom. Finally, when he was twenty years old, the day came for his escape.

Setting a small portion of his wooden prison, his room ablaze, Olias crawled through the small, burned hole and into the headquarters of the Business Association Headquarters. Moving silently under the blanket of night, Olias walked over little known service passages, the passages he had walked through night after night during his work. Taking a Deku Stick from a table, Olias made his way towards the exit of the Business Scrub Association. However, as he left the Deku Palace, he was approached by several guards. He managed to blow several back, combining magic with the Deku Stick, but he was finally beaten to the ground and shackled. Both Olias and Dante are unaware of this, but the one who apprehended him was Dante Silvaros.

Thrown to the ground in front of the council of the Business Scrub Association, they decided that Olias was to be kept alive, instead of being sentenced to death. He had proved to be resourceful, powerful, and capable of great things; a rare commodity that was of unestimable worth to the Association. Placed enchanted manacles around his wrists, the Business Scrub Association bound him eternally to their will. Should he disobey their orders, the manacles would burn their way through his wrists, setting his entire body ablaze in their wake.

Still, the Business Scrub Association treated him better thence force, having Olias concentrate solely on his studies; he no longer had to work during the night. Instead, Olias spent his time out in the night air, looking at the stars, wishing he were as free as them. He spent his time dabbling his feet in small ponds and the lake surrounding the Deku Palace – because of the many years of this, his body changed. His head leaves disappeared, replaced by long, willow branches, while the color of his wood changed. Deciding that this was to be his new image, Olias has since continued his nightly water baths, sleeping in small pools of water.

After a few more years passed, Olias was released into the world, clothed and funded by the Business Scrub Association. His last request was that they give him Scent Seeds before they put him to work. Taking the flower deed within Castle Town, Olias flew from the Lost Woods to his new home, fascinated by the new sights outside of the Woods. Now that he was away from the Association Headquarters, Olias was already hatching a new plan of escape; he would delve into the magic of enchanting, and would hopefully break the enchantment on his manacles. He would spend his days learning of enchantment magic, and would spend his nights dazzling the crowd. To all but the must scrutinizing eyes, he would appear to be the most excellent of Business Scrubs; charismatic, convincing, and capable.

Ganon's invasion began approximately ten years after Olias arrived within Castle Town. For those ten years, Olias preformed his duties well, selling Association merchandise whenever he could, and extorting as often as he could. However, the invasion did not affect Olias much, as he was far removed from the war to the south. It was not until Death Mountain that Olias truly began to change, become truly arrogant. Warped from his childhood, his perception of right and wrong changed. Once he saw the Goron refugees funneling into Castle Town, Olias was witness to the corruption of money. He saw the abuse they withstood, as they were continually taken advantage of those with money. It was then that Olias truly began to steal as much as possible from the rich, doling out his own means of justice. Spending his free nights giving rupees to the poor of the Goron Slums, Olias has passed his years, until the current day, trying to free himself, and the poor, of the oppression of the rich.
