This, my friends and countrymen, is the Battle Arena! Here is where characters battle to the death, backed by a savage crowd cheering for bloodshed, and all for great prizes!

First, note that like all Separate Role-Play Areas, characters may be here and anywhere in the main role-play simultaneously. Anything which would affect their relationships or health in a battle here--even death--only lasts within the battle and will not affect future battles or the main role-play.

Second, the exact prizes you win are dependent upon what kind of match it is: an exhibition match, a Lord-run tourney match, or a player-run tourney match. In an exhibition match--a battle not part of any tournament--all sides should normally put up one of their items or a rupee amount to be wagered. Naturally, the loser's wages will go to the victor. What is being gambled must be agreed upon by all participants beforehand, and can be as little as one rupee or as great as several prestigious magic-tier items. Immaterial treasures, such as spells or profession levels, and major treasures, cannot be wagered. In addition to these standard gambles, the Arena Lord usually adds some of his own prizes to the pot, particularly if the stakes were already quite high or it was an entertaining match.

In a Lord-run arena match, usually part of a tourney, the prizes for every match and the ultimate victor are given out by the Lord.

In a player-run tourney match, the prizes must be given out by the players' characters (although a player may also charge characters for entry to help supply the prize).

For those looking for an extra challenge, the Arena Lord is willing to provide a Surprise Arena Match. The field will be of the players' choosing, but may not stay that way for long. There will also be a few extra surprises hidden throughout the playing field, though they're not something you want to find. Due to the fact such bouts are more interesting to the Arena Lord, he is usually more willing to add something to the pot.

Now then, the participants in a battle can be as few as two and as high as you can count, but the participants must be agreed upon by all participating sides before battle commences. While the default setting of every battle is the arena (the description of which is at the bottom of this post), the setting of a battle can be different so long as all sides agree upon it before battle commences. All normal role-play rules--specifically no god-modding or making your attacks meet their mark automatically--must be followed.

By default, the victor is determined by a staffer role-playing as an Arena Lord, usually myself or occasionally Adaar. The victor is weighed depending on the following factors:
    - Entertainment value of the user's posts regarding the fight itself
    - Reasonableness of fighting style, given the character's strengths and limitations
    - Tactics employed
    - Overall role-playing skill displayed
Note that although it is expected for a winner to come out on top in the role-play, this is not necessarily who the Lord will accept as victor. The Lord will only choose a victor after all sides except one forfeits, or all sides except one have been rendered unable to continue.

The default structure of the arena is as follows:
"The time is evening's twilight, setting the battlefield orange, and the weather is partly cloudy. The battle centers around a white-marble platform of a perfect circle, extending in a diameter of roughly 100 meters. The top of the circle is filled in with patches of dirt and short grass. Throughout the battlefield are spread one-dozen large oak trees, feasible to climb. Surrounding the marble platform on all sides is a six-meter wide pit of spikes, each spike a long, narrow, and sharpened log jetting out of a pit of mud. Beyond these pits is a bloodthirsty and savage crowd, cheering on the combatants. The bleachers extend several hundred meters outwards and upwards. Beyond this point, however, exists nothing but barren rockland interspersed with the occasional weed, of an unknown country or location. Immediately outside the bleachers is a magical cage controlled by the Lord himself; it normally appears invisible, but will immediately form an invincible barrier towards any solid or liquid material which comes against it.

The battle begins with each combatant teleported to the far opposite sides of the marble platform."
