"Urgh. That's not it either." Laurel put the lantern down, not wanting to disturb the resting spirits any more than she already had, and pulled her mantle a little closer around herself. She wore it primarily to shield herself from the wind, secondarily to blend in with the darkness so she wouldn't be recognised -Veranius's youngest scouring the graveyard in the dead of the night!- and tertiarily... for comfort. She did not like strolling through the graveyard, especially not at night, but during the day she would be recognised and become the central point of a scandal. She had wandered past here before, on her way to the Academy of the Sages- their library was bigger and she sought hints on where to find her Enchantments. Instead, she had felt a shadowy power radiating from this graveyard, and decided to come back later to see if it was related.

However, now that she had inspected almost all items in the graveyard as well as all headstones, she shook her head. She knew she wasn't mistaken- there WAS a shadowy power at work here. Just, it didn't seem to be focused anywhere, and thus was useless for the purpose of learning a Shadow Enchantment despite her being sure it existed. Frustrated and tired, Laurel turned around and made to leave the graveyard to get some shut-eye before Taylor woke her for the banquet tomorrow. She could have chosen her timeframe better, she supposed.

As she left, she thought she heard something behind her, and immediately turned around, her paranoia moving her to cast a Magic Bolt that crashed into something ethereal before it dissipated. On the ground at her feet now only lay a single scrap of cloth, and she picked it up. "Hmmmm..." it felt funny. It wasn't powerful, but there was definitely something radiating from it. She might as well bring it with her, she supposed.

Minutes after she left the graveyard, when they were certain she wasn't coming back, the lanterns gave birth to spectral images and a few skeletons started to climb out of their graves. "She took it," one of the ghosts said, "I can't believe she took it!"

"Let her," one of the skeletons replied, "What is she going to do with it, anyway? Besides, it's not like you can't generate a new one at will."

"That's a fair point." The ghost hovered down. "So... did you have any twos, or not?"
