Way way back many centuries ago, I remember how much I hated jumping from one area to the next (map wise) and having to jump forums at the same time. This also made it annoyin to follow a single person's story if they did not provide a link from one section to the next. For the few weeks that I posted on Mirror Shield, I enjoyed the freedom of only one forum/section where all the role play happened.

Granted, MS had fewer members, but I think this could still apply here.

We could keep the current division of north and south, and then only two or three subdivisions.
    Example:
    Northern Hyrule
    -Hyrule Field
-Lake Hylia (containing Lost Woods, Darunia & Mido)

    Southern Hyrule
    -Southern Fields
    -Tantari Desert

Don't know how Death Mountain and the Eastern Sea would fit in, but this is just a simple example anyway.

So, all role play done anywhere within Hyrule Field (be it in Castle Town, Lon Lon Ranch, Northern Hills, etc.) would just be done in that one area. Anything happening in the Tantari Desert goes there, and so on.

    Advantages:
    *Less forum hoping.
*Less clicking around to get to a specific area.
    *Easier to follow another's story.
    ???

    Disadvantages:
*Potentially confusing as time goes on.
    ???

    Another two cents.

Yes, I completely agree. When I first saw how many new boards were added, one thought came to my mind: Hyrule Castle definitely needs fewer role-play forums. I don't even understand why the entire in-character section is not compacted into three or boards, or even a single one.

At this point in time, the prevalence of boards is really just an obnoxious hassle. Hopping from one to another is annoying, and having to create a new thread whenever going from an area to the next even more so. If a quest entails delivering goods halfway across Hyrule, there is no logical reason for it to be split up into several different threads. Not only that, but having such a ridiculous amount of forums is unsightly, especially considering many of them will likely be completely empty for quite a while.

The only justification I can see for having so many different boards is I suppose if one's too lazy to read the lore threads (and if someone's too lazy to do that, do we really want them here that badly to begin with?) or if this site someday becomes crazy active. But the thing is, this site isn't even half that active. In fact, it has zero role-play activity, and may never match the levels of even HS (which in of itself had, what, no more than five RPs going at any given time?). If the activity ever becomes so extensive that more boards would be a necessity, then creating them should not be a problem. In the meantime, having so many boards is simply inconvenient and looks shoddy--nothing more and nothing less.

On that note, I've said it before and I'll say it again: the lore threads should all be compacted into one thread and placed in Role-Play Information. I'm not sure why Serious Discussion, Forum Games, and Zelda Discussion all warrant their own boards, but if we have all that, should we not have at least one board dedicated to the discussion of the role-play itself? That is what this site is about, is it not?

On that note, Character Workshop could be removed and effectively become a part of the RP discussion board. The main Character Creation forum could be used to submit characters, with Accepted and Incomplete being where the characters are moved upon judgement. Additionally, 'Character Station' just sounds... silly...
