    Name:
    Kavali

    Race:
    Rito (Fokka)

    Age:
    17

    Gender:
    Male

    Place of Origin:
    Dragon Roost Island

    PWC:
    3/1/4

    Treasures and Rupees:
    5 Rupees

Treasure: Business (Profession: Sellsword 2), Valiance, Roc's Cape, Sense, Wall-Scaling, Helm Splitter

    Equipment:
Sabre: A light, curved blade inspired by Gerudo blades. The lightweight design makes it ideal for Kavali's speed-based, high-flying fighting style.
Leather Armor: Lightweight leather armor, providing moderate protection while not weighing Kavali down more than necessary.
Climbing Claws: A pair of handheld short, sharp steel claws made in the image of a bird's talons. Kavali uses these for easy climbing (see Wall-Scaling) and occasionally as desperate last-resort weapons.
Adventuring Gear: A small kit consisting of a backpack, a small cooking pot, a rope and a lantern. Overall useful for any traveler or dungeon crawler.

    Appearance:

Kavali is a young Fokka already showing a fair bit of wear and tear from his rough lifestyle. He is built for athleticism, his body made almost entirely out of compact, wiry muscle. One can find a myriad of knicks, dents, and scars covering it, some from blades or arrows, others from teeth or claws. His white hair is fairly short, but often unkempt and ruffled due to the winds of his own movements, hanging down in his face some but not nearly enough to get in his eyes. With a bright gaze and heart-shaped face, he still manages to appear youthful, in contrast to the dented state of his body.

Kavali is usually outfitted with a practical tanned brown-black leather armor, with little flair or overt styling to it. Two belts stretch across his waist, one sticking closely to his waist while the other loops down slightly along his hip. The tighter belt carries his climbing claws, while the looser belt sports the sheath for his sabre. He normally wears his Roc's Cape asymmetrically, the blue accessory draped across his right shoulder and covering a fair bit of his arm, as if to recreate the "sleeve" normally formed by Rito wings. This particular Roc's Cape is blue, with white tips zig-zagging across the bottom.

    Personality:
Most would describe Kavali as cocky, if not outright arrogant. The young Fokka has plenty of battle experience proportionally to his short life and as a result of generally making it out of his violent escapades right as rain, he has grown exceptionally confident in his martial abilities. With smirks and anticipating grins, he will take on any challenge presented to him. He is in no way unpleasant to be around and he can certainly be sociable, but his ego tends to bleed through whenever given the chance.

To go along with this, he is also quite the showman and possesses quite a flair for the dramatic. Not only has he incorporated impressive acrobatics and unnecessarily flashy maneuvers in his fighting style and way of moving solely for the fact that it looks cool, he also has a tendency to act in a theatrical manner that might seem plain goofy to most people around him. When one deals with Kavali, one should expect melodramatic shrugs, the shaking of heads, swords being flipped around whenever he is given the chance and the Fokka somehow finding the perfect spot to stand on for his cape to billow dramatically in the wind every single time (most likely, he also crosses his arms while doing so, staring off dramatically into the sunset).

The effect is more often than not ruined by him being seventeen years old and he will often take pause to make sure people see him being brooding and mysterious. Not only that, but his oftentimes childish mindset often makes him take courses of action that directly contradict the image of a dark, "badass" mercenary that he is trying to portray. When something especially flashy or textbook "cool" occurs in his surroundings, Kavali is likely to break his facade to gush over said thing until he manages to catch himself in the act. Likewise, he is still fairly impressionable in his youth and will often pick up traits or try to imitate people he runs into that he comes to respect or admire. He does what he does in an attempt to impress but, ultimately, he himself is the one most likely to grow excited over his actions.

And ultimately, like most teenagers, his bravado is ultimately an expression of insecurity. Though he knows himself very capable in battle and a lot of his confidence is genuine, Kavali does have episodes of self-doubt. Though he often claims to be comfortable in his identity as Fokka, jealousy towards the winged Rito and disappointment in himself for his failed quest is commonplace in his mindscape, hence his martial style and equipment being geared towards simulating flight with great leaps and deft climbing. His inability to actually fly, the way he has been met for it by other Rito and his inability to meet his greatest goal has left him feeling "lesser" in many ways, which he makes up for by trying to be "greater" in any way he can. As a result, Kavali does not handle failure well and when actually losing, it is very easy for him to lose confidence in himself, which can, in turn, lead to desperation and rash decisions. Battle experience or not, one ought to remember that Kavali is a teen, with all that entails.

    Background:
Kavali was born to a pair of Rito postmen on Dragon Roost Island during year 1 A.G. All things considered, his childhood was rather ordinary for a Rito youth. He grew up learning to leap and climb, looking forward to his meeting with Valoo to receive his wings. He was never an ambitious youth, with no greater goals with life than joining the postal office like his parents and finding his place among the other Rito.

These hopes were dashed at his tenth birthday. At that point, all he was waiting for before making his rite of passage was his parents, who were in Hyrule during those turbulent times, dealing with various message deliveries and Kavali himself wished them to be there for when he grew wings. The delivery that should only take a couple of days maximum went on to take a week. Then two. Then three.

When a month without a word from his parents had passed, Kavali left Dragon Roost Island. He was barely more than ten years old, but he knew that some horrible fate must have met his family. The wars in Hyrule and the onslaught of the Evil King had been spoken about with hushed tones on Dragon Roost and he saw no other solution but to sneak onto a passing ship and make his way to mainland. He was an emotional child, weeks had already passed, he did not have time to make the harrowing climb up to Valoo to receive his wings, he wanted to move right away. An impulsive and illogical action committed by a young child, which would come to cost him.

As soon as the ship took him to Southern Hyrule, the young Kavali was immediately thrown into the conflicts between the Hylians and Ganon's forces. He was but a child, but with monsters aplenty and danger at every turn, he had to learn to adapt. He had already been taught basic fencing at Dragon Roost, a baseline that only applied through practical experience as his search for his parents brought him from conflict to conflict. He personally slew his first monster only a few months after reaching Southern Hyrule and it only got worse from there. Still, he continued searching, convinced that his family was to be found somewhere in these lands, where they had intended to deliver a few messages, to begin with.

    That was seven years ago.

No matter how much he tried, Kavali's search took him nowhere, but he was far too stubborn to give up just like that. To survive, he put his battle experience and talent for swordsmanship into practical use and began to offer his services as a sellsword, occasionally traveling with different mercenary companies but mainly working alone. Cleansing Hyrule of different monsters and fending off bandits paid well enough and though he had long gotten over the despair of not being able to find his family, despair that had originally been mind-numbing when the possibility of their death first occurred to him.

He still refuses to give up on them, however. At this point, he has grown into an adventure and treasure-seeker, hoping to find the magic items and to grow strong enough to launch an assault on the last possible place where his family could be held capture, the Kasuto Stronghold. This base for Ganon's forces held quite a few captives, after all, perhaps the Rito in Hyrule's service could also be found there. He long ago got used to the scorn of "Fokka" he received from other Rito, considering his winglessness a small price to pay for the safe return of his family. Their deaths was certainly a possibility still, but at this point, he refused to let that thought wear him down. He was going to do all he could to make these seven years of his life that he gave up worth it, or die trying.
