    Name: Kalik

    Age: 17

    Gender: Male

    Race: Rito

Place of Origin: Dragon Roost Island

    PWC: (1/1/5)

Treasures: Flute of True Melody, Needle Storm, Song of Healing, Wind's Requiem, Sense, 1 Rupee, Valiance, Winged Flight

    Flute of True Melody (open)
Flute of True Melody (Unique Major)
    Original - Razgriz, Magic-Tier, Utility
    [Magical], [Music], [Profession]

    C5: 75 Rupees
    C4: 110 Rupees
    C3: 150 Rupees

    Prerequisites: Courage 3

Appearance: The flute is made of lustrous silver, although it's exact nature remains a mystery, as it has not been damaged by years of exposure. It has fine engravings covering the object entirely although they seem to have no meaning or purpose.

Effect: Although the flute never seems to fall out of tune and it always produces a pleasant sound and invokes the emotion the piece was meant to, regardless of the skill of the user or the quality of the piece, that is not its primary purpose. With a masterpiece (Even if mundane) or a particularly skilled musician, the emotion invoked is so strong it can greatly affect a situation, such as by preventing two brawlers from coming to blows or inspiring a group of soldiers to continue a losing battle. This also increases the effectiveness of magical songs, but not as much as mundane songs and will not create new effects, only making the original effect more intense.

    Height: 6' 1"

    Weight: 175 lbs

Equipment: Ink pen, Inkwell, Music Paper, Large Kukri, Javelins

Appearance: Kalik is tall, lithe and somewhat dark skinned for a Rito, having spent so much time outside. His clothes and feathers (when he chooses to fly) are typically salt encrusted (his feathers, oddly, never seem to lose this quality) and seems to constantly smell faintly of the ocean. His features are quite fair and appealing

Personality: Kalik is a quiet, often withdrawn, being preferring to observe, plan, act and react from a distance or anonymity rather than forcing his way through a problem. That said he is not afraid to go in head first if it obvious that such an approach would be more effective than his normal approach, also if there is no or little danger involved, his natural curiosity will likely get the better of him and he will investigate to the best he can. When meeting people he often relies on his base instinct towards them, having little experience otherwise and will continue to use this instinct until he knows enough to form his own opinion. Finally, he believes himself more capable than he actually is; although he does not boast or try to claim to superiority, he will often attempt things he cannot accomplish.

Residence: Small island with ship wreck

    Pet: None

Backstory: As with most Rito, Kalik grew up on Dragon Roost Island, where he earned a reputation as a trouble maker and daredevil. This in turn left him with few friends and felt somewhat disconnected with his family, but he never changed his ways. His brashness was the reason he attempted the traditional pilgrimage to Valoo the day after his fourteenth birthday, and thus the first day tradition allowed. For days he climbed the steep mountain with falling rock, loose handholds and other such dangers. Finally Kalik arrived at Valoo's feet and the ritual took place, giving him the wings he desired and proving his manhood. Yet even before descending the mountain with his new-found wings, he jumped from the cliff and flew out to the ocean. Hours past and still there was no land in sight, slowly his selfish pride and feelings of superiority gave way to ones of guilt and helplessness, as he scoured the horizon for ANY signs of land, only to come up empty. After what felt like days to him, he could sustain his newly acquired flight no more, plummeting into the sea and feeling the water rush over him, he lost consciousness.

When he finally awoke, Kalik found he was on an island no larger than the deck of a ship, except there WAS a ship beached on it. Having no idea the direction he came from, flying out would suicide, he had to stay. There were no signs or clues as to the ship's crew's whereabouts and the only intact items he could pull from the ship were some weapons and musical items, and only the caption's quarters were in livable conditions. He then survived on what he could catch and practised with the flute. He began to contemplate what he had done, perhaps his survival was Valoo's blessing and his exile Valoo's anger. Slowly overcoming his selfish and headstrong personality until a hint of it remained, in believing that if he got so much attention from Valoo, he must be Valoo's chosen.

Barely surviving for three years, only eating the fish, mussels, and oysters he could catch each day, burning whatever seaweed he could dry, improvising rain catchers and evaporation filters from the ship's wood and sleeping in an old, mould riddled cabin. With all too many nights cold from no fire, dehydrated and eating what seaweed he could, or nothing at all.

Finally, the eruption at Dragon Roost Island acted as a signal and meant two things: First, his time of exile was over, he could now return to his old home, and second, that evil had begun to spread, and it was time to end it or it would envelope the world as the ash from the eruption enveloped the sky. Thus he simply returned to Dragon Roost, leaving behind the island of which he had only a vague location, knowing he may never see it again.

Ok Raz, I like the character as a whole, I just have a couple of things I want to go over. First off is the flute, I just want to make sure you understand that by using it, you can't force other role players to act a certain way, such as causing them to calm down and not go to blows. Just want to clarify that with you and understand your purpose with it is all.

Second, are you saying your character was stranded on the tiny island for 3 years? If it was as small as the deck of a ship, how did your character survive there for 3 years? Just interested to find out, what was the source of food, water, fire, etc.... Were there trees and such on this island that he could use to start a fire to stay warm and survive? Was there any way for him to keep shelter if there were storms and such? Just curious and would like a little expounding on that.

After you go over this stuff let me know and I'll come and take a look again! (PM me, that would be great!)
