Homecoming

It was just getting spring time as Sexton ventured out of the Lost Woods, he was home... for the first time in six years. Sexton had been off looking for the girl of his dreams but seeing as his arm was very lonely, he seemed to have failed. Sexton's hair blew in the wind, it was kinda chilly outside so he made haste with his venture into the city. No one really recognized him, nor did they really even care who he was. His people seemed to have become obsessed with working over the past six years. The town was not nearly as nice as when he left it. There seemed to be a lot more buildings and a lot more people here too. Seemed that this was the safest place in the world when it comes to hiding from the Monsters. Sadly they have just become a living seas pool and no one was the wiser.

He saw a few familiar faces, several new ones, and several fellow thieves but he really just wanted to see his family. He finally gazed upon his mom's house as he confidently strolled up to it standing on the top step, wondering if it has been too long to just barge in or if he should knock. He wasn't given long to bonder on it as the door slammed open with vengeance knocking the Hylian from the top step a few feet to the ground holding his nose. "Hey are you okay?" said a deep voice as he walked up to Sexton. "Sexton!?!? You're alive, you're home. Oh my goddesses Ma and I missed you so much. You had us so worried." The deep voice was coming from a Goron who grabbed up the small Hylian and wrapped him in a bear hug.

"Too... tight...." Sexton said as the Goron dropped him on his rump. "You look.. like you've.. seen a ghost.." he said catching his breath.

"Ma! Come quick! Brothers home." the Goron yelled for their mother as she started coming out yelling..

"That's not funny, you know he probably isn't with us any." The mom stopped as she stared at her other son and ran up to him. She caressed his face to make sure she wasn't dreaming before slapping him across the cheek she just rubbed. "Six years you leave us worries, you didn't write or anything. Nor do you have a girl to prove it. I was expected to be a grandmother since you were gone that long."

"Ma! What matters is brother home now." He said to his mother as Sexton held his cheek and rose to his feat.

"Once I crossed Lake Hylia things got bad..." Sexton said as his expression got dim. "I had to fight monster after monster... there's no telling how much blood has been spilled. The world has gone to a very cold place, but I'm home now..." Sexton continued hyping his story up talking about all of his ventures he went on. Crowds of people started to gather and listen to the young man's tale.

The villagers started to talk and they all thought Sexton would be the perfect savior that we need to stop the monster in the Swamp. Apparently once a month for the past three years a strange beast has come and taken away one of the villages woman.

"No I don't..."

"We would love to go. Brother could kill three swamp beasts if he wanted to." The Goron started dragging Sexton behind him with Sec trying to stop him every step along the way...

It wasn't until it was almost nightfall and they had gotten almost to Mido

"What is it brother?" questioned the much larger Goron.

"I just don't think it will be a good idea.." he questioned looking sad for a moment. He didn't realize that an Octorock was coming from behind and snatching his bag. "Get back here! That has all of my items!"

The two charged after the Octorock even further toward the swamp before dropping the bag and scurrying on. Sec ran forward and grabbed his bag only to realize that all of his stuff was gone. Sexton started running but Dusty grabbed him. "Don't want to get trapped in the swamp at night time brother. We are already at Mido. Lets rest here for the night."

After some convincing the Hylian finally came to town for the night. They talked to a native and asked where they could get some boarding for free. After they told them they were going to slay the beast in the swamp, they all wanted to give them a place to rest. They all agreed that they could stay in the shack that has been abandoned for some time.

"Something smells dead in here..." said the Hylian in disgust. The place had mildew on the walls and was infested with bugs. He went over to lift up the covers on one of the beds and almost threw up after seeing strange forms of vegetation growing..

"Better than getting stuck in the swamp at night." Said the Goron choosing to lay on a bale of hay that was in the shack. Sexton just kinda cuddled up in the floor.

"I come home and just wanted to sleep in my own bed and now I got my items taken from me. Now I have to sleep here..." He said very apprehensively. He questioned how he got in this situation.

"What did brother lose?" questioned the Goron very kindly.

"Everything that I attained in my past six years of travels. Now all I have is my bow, my blade, and this nice trinket around my neck." Sexton held up the trinket and watched it glow a light blue hue. It was a huge rock that he kept under his shirt. "It turns anything I wish into an icy weapon that freezes on contact. Though it takes a lot out of me."

"I will help brother get his stuff back." he said as they both fell asleep.

"Wake up." Sexton said as he kicked the Goron in the head with his boot. It really didn't hurt the Goron due to his rocky head. It was bright and early that morning so the Goron woke up with a nod and questioned.

"Why so early brother?" said the Goron as he whipped the sleep from his eyes. Heavy rocks fell down and busted into dust as the hit the ground.

T"hat swamp is at least eight hours away. Then the swamp itself would take the rest of the day to traverse. It's like you said last night. Do you want to be stuck in that swamp at night?" questioned Sexton as he started to head out the door.

The Goron looked confused at his brother, it wasn't even morning yet. The sun was just now rising.. "But the sun isn't even up yet."

"I didn't any sleep last night due to obvious reasons.." the Hylian said as he shuttered a bit. "No more talk you're the one that got me into this."

The strange duo walked out the door and left before anyone in the town woke up. The town was just out of the horizon as the sun ushered in the morning. The two embarked on the swamp to get that Octorock that stole his items... oh and maybe save a couple girls while he is at it. But his priority is on his items. Sexton seemed to not be worried too much about the women which was very unusual for him. He would normally never leave a damsel in distress. The Goron wondered what has changed in him in the past six years also he wondered if the old Sexton would ever return.

They were in a fairly hilly terrain currently, strange kind of land that would lead to this swamp. Sexton had been in the swamp once and he didn't enjoy the experience too much. He almost lost his shoes... and no one wants to walk barefoot through a swamp. Sexton would prefer to sleep in that nasty bed full of fungus.

The Goron stared off at the sky in the distance and saw a really strange sight coming from the center of the sun. As they started walking it started to eclipse the sun before Dusty finally realized that there was something coming towards them. "B-b-brother!" said the Goron as it hid behind its scrawny little brother. Strange sight seeing such a big and powerful Goron hiding behind the little green thief. Sexton was just as scared as he opened his eyes wide and started to shake a bit. What is this shadowy figure eclipsing the sun? Why is Sexton not concerned with the fine girls that have been kidnapped?

Eysseth flapped his wings quietly as he carried Jacob towards Mido. Suddenly Eysseth noticed two figures standing on the ground below one cowering behind the other. Eysseth nudged his head up to Jacob who was half asleep. "Hm...what...Huh? Yes Eysseth?" Eysseth nodded towards the ground where the two figures were, who could now be made out to be a Goron cowering behind a Hylian. "Hm? A Goron cowering behind a Hylian? Don't see that everyday do ya?" Jacob cracked Eysseth's reigns as Eysseth descended to a point in front of the Hylian and Goron. Eysseth landed with a loud thump as Jacob jumped off and walked over to the Hylian. "Greetings I'm Jacob Temple. Is everything okay here? It's not everyday one sees a cowering Goron." Jacob said as he offered a hand to the Hylian.

Rina stood at the highest point of Dragon Roost Island. Her pictobox was in her pocket and her elegant longbow was on her back. Behind her were the people she loved most. Half the village came to see her off.

"Do you really have to go?" Bre asked. Bre was Rina's smallest sister and the bond between them was unbreakable.

"I'm afraid I must Bre. Mom and Dad have too much on their hands. I have to fend for myself now. I'm an adult."

Bre clung to Rina's leg and wouldn't let go. "I won't let you! You'll die!"

'Maybe so', Rina thought. "Bre.." Rina spoke calmly. "I'm going to be ok. I promise to visit. When I do I will bring you the most beautiful doll ever."

"You will? Okay." Bre reluctantly let go of her leg.

The whole flock joined her in singing the Ballad of Gales to turn the wind to the North.
"SO LONG EVERYONE!" Rina yelled. She stepped off of the cliff, spread out her wings and let the wind carry her up high in the sky. She thanked Farore for the strong wind. All of her memories were in her mind. Her head was racing of thoughts of the future.
'I can't wait to hear the history of all the races in Hyrule. I wonder if I will meet any Gorons? What is it like in Hyrule Castle Town?'

Up ahead she could see the swamp that was before Mido and a strange sight down below. what was was a rock doing by a tree in the middle of a swamp? Rina descended for a better look. The tree began to look like a person, but why is there a rock in the middle of the swamp? Closer and closer she came to the surface and realized what the strange object was. It was a Goron hiding behind a Hylian. She let her mind wander for just a bit.

'So that's what Gorons look like. I heard they are powerful and mighty creatures. Their history should be amazing! Woah there's a huge creature over there. It doesn't seem to be harming them. In fact, it looks tamed. If Gorons are so big and mighty, why is he...'

Rina forgot to pull up to land and crashed.

Sexton and Dusty were getting flocked from all directions it had seemed. First was the huge behemoth in front of him being a wyvern. Through the six years of training he had never seen anything quite as... scary. Sexton then saw the man, apparently his name was Jacob. "My name is Sexton Hardcastle, but somepeople find that awkward so I go by Sec. This Goron behind me is my brother Dusty. He gets a bit apprehensive at times."

Sexton thought for a moment and was unsure if it was a trick or not. He decided to concont a subtle threat to keep the man on his toes. "Though when you provoke him he is a beast." Around that time something landed with a thud behind them. Sexton shreiked a bit as he turned around quickly, seeing a Rito woman eating dirt.. He had encountered some Rito's before. One of them stalked him across Dragon Roost Island. Though his experiences with them were not always favorable he went to help her up. Dustin just stared at the Rito, he hadn't seen a Rito before. As a matter a fact he has only ever dealt with Goron's and other Hylians. Maybe the ocassional Deku Scrub.

"Hope you are okay.. I don't mean to sound rude but honestly I didn't get much sleep last night and I am on a tight schedule. Stupid Octorock. He stole all of my items I've pilfe.... I mean attained over the past six years."

"Brother, you are forgetting about the women." he said. "Silly brother. The women of my village have been getting kidnapped. Brother is a brave adventurer, he single handedly took down an army of Moblins. We embark on quest to save the girls."

Sexton's eyes rose widely as he heard his Brother hyping him up, "I really wish you would quit telling people things like that!" yelled Sexton, raising his voice. "That isn't quite how it happened..."

"That's what you told me and mother."

Sexton slammed his palm into his face and wtih a muffled voice said "Just stop, for the love of Nayru stop..."

It only took her a second to realize what happened.
'I really shouldn't do that. I have to keep a clear head when I fly'
She felt strong arms pull her to her feet. Her vision was still a bit blurry from the crash and she was a tad dizzy Her hearing was a bit muffled too.

"...Hope you are ok...Octorok...stole my items..." "..We embark on a quest to save girls" "For the love of Nayru stop!"

"Did I...interrupt something?" Rina apologized as the disorientation wore off.

"Oh we were just..talking." The man that helped her shot a glance at the Goron that said 'Be quiet!'

"Sorry about crashing. I became lost in thought. Ritos can do that you know, we are very curious creatures. My name is Rina Lightwing."

Just as the Sexton had replied to him, Jacob saw an object crash right behind them. Eysseth scared by the crash stood as high as he could and spread his wings to make himself look bigger as Sexton was helping up what now could be seen as a Rito. "Whoa! Whoa! Down Eysseth down!" Jacob pulled a fish out of a sack attached to his back and held it up in front of the wyvern. "Fish? Fish? Down. Good boy," Jacob said as Eysseth lowered himself and lowered his wings. Jacob threw the fish and Eysseth caught the fish in his mouth. Faint crunches sounded as Eysseth chewed the fish. "Stay." "Sorry about crashing. I became lost in thought. Ritos can do that you know, we are very curious creatures. My name is Rina Lightwing." After he was sure Eysseth was subdued Jacob turned to the Rito. "Are you okay ma'am? That's quite a crash you made there. It takes a lot to scare Eysseth that badly."

The disorientation finally wore off and her vision cleared. Her eyes focused and she seemed to be staring at a Goron. And the Goron was staring back.
"I'm fine now, Thank you for helping me." Why was the Goron still staring at her?
"Is he ok?" She turned and saw they Hylian who helped her. It was odd, but it seemed like she should have seen him before.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a light mist that began to fall as the sunny day turned cloudy.
"For the love of Nayru! It wouldn't be a good idea to fly in rain. How far is it to Mido?

Whether it was the lack of sleep, the rain, or anger that the Octorock stole his items, Sexton was not impressed with the crowd of people interrupting him. "Probably about an hour that way" Sexton said as he pointed in the direction the came from. "Now if you excuse me I have a date with an Octorock." Sexton started walking away as the Goron followed.

The Goron turned around and apologized, "I'm sorry for brother. He's having a bad day. Any of you can come along. if you want."

((I'm not sure if Blizzteka was trying to roleplay her way out of the thread. If you were post in this thread leaving and make a new thread for yourself. :) This post isn't me kicking everyone out either, just giving them a way out if they want.))

Jacob looked at Eysseth who was picking with his teeth at one of his wings. Eysseth noticed Jacob looking at him and motioned his head towards Sexton and Dusty. "You wanna follow them eh? I'm fine with that, but as a Hylian Guard it would be rude not to offer an escort. Would you like an escort to Mido, Miss. Rina if that's where you're headin'?"

High in the sky, a small black blur shot across from the depths of the woods. However, its beeline trajectory abruptly curved when it heard voices from below. It circled about deftly, dropping a trio of postcards from above, before circling back and continuing onward.

The trio of papers fell loftily near Jacob, Sexton, Dustin, and Rina... readily to be grabbed right of the air with the quickest of motions. They all bore the same message, should it wish to be read:

"Greetings adventurer,

You likely do not know me, but I bear the proposition of a game--a lottery. Hundreds of rupees could be yours for such a low cost and little effort, and all you need to acquire them is a bit of luck.

If winning the Grimm Lottery interests you, please send a letter to the return address of this postcard, including ten (10) rupees, your birthname, and an acceptable address. When you are victorious, the reward will promptly be sent through Hyrule's prestigious postal system. Please do not worry, benevolent patron, your rupees are protected well under the regulations of the Business Scrub Association and will be refunded in full if something terrible should happen to them. A new drawing is taken place on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of every month. If you're interested in participating, make sure you have at least one new entry sent every before the next drawing date.

Should you ever pass through Castle-Town, you are more than welcome to see where Grimm Lottery is taken place: the glorious Grimm Emporium in the merchant district outside the castle. Our other services include the buying and selling of goods of all sorts at fair prices, and handing out loans at reasonable rates.

Thank you for you time and consideration," signed, "Gustav Grimm, Business Scrub Association." A small Deku insignia has been stamped adjacent the signature, in red ink.

Rina snapped a picture of the scene with her pictograph. "For memories' sake. Hylian Guard huh? Well, I suppose I could use an escort. After I arrive in Mido, I should be fine there. You can go back to help Sexton if you like."

"I'm sorry brother but I must not be out in this rain.. I'm sorry I dragged you out here.. but I must retreat back home. Please be careful brother."

Sexton stared up at his brother and gives him a hug before walking deeper into the swamp the rain beating down on his back. The Goron rolled up into a ball and started rolling home it would be night before he actually gets back home so he needed to hurry. Sexton's hair got drenched with water as he headed deeper into the swamp, which were really starting to look like a bad idea with all of the water soaking into his boots..

It was nightfall before he entered the swamp, he didn't want to have to go through the swamp after dark but if he waited much longer his items would be lost forever. The rain has made Sexton's hair fall flat in his face. He sweeped it back behind his ears but it wasn't quite long enough yet. So he just swooped it over to the side and walked into the swamp. As he went further and further the water he was weighting through got deeper and deeper.

The water was knee deep by the time that he paused for a second. He could hear some noises. He wasn't quite sure what to think of them. But he did know that trouble was coming. The rain was getting harder as thunder started to crackle lightning flashed the sky which made Sec see what he was hearing. But it was too late as he had little time to react before a rock crushed into him. He lifted his arms up hoping to protect himself. He then charged forward at hopefully the Octorock that took it's bag, sadly wading through the water was not the easiest thing to do. As he approached he took out his dagger but not before getting smashed headon with a rock.

Sec was dinged up quite bad from that last blow, he had already began to hate Octorocks all over again. But when he got in close quarters of the Octorock there was nothing that could stop him from stabbing him straight in the blowhole watching as it disappeared in a poof of purple nothingness.

Sexton was breathing fairly hard as he got out of the water and onto a faint peace of land that a tree was sprouted in. He sat there for a second and rested.

Meanwhile on the other side of the swamp. Beck Von Brooks left the water as he looked back at the fish. "No worries bro, I'll definately pay back those River Zoras for you. he said. Despite his band ditching him, he seemed to ooze a godly level of confidence.

He went running off into the woods very hyper, "Stupid Sharkbait!" Sharkbait being a derogatory slur that he uses for River Zora or actually anyone that he doesn't like. So Beck ran forward into the swamp not knowing of it's dangers due to being sheltered to Lake Hylia... well at least he was from a tough neighborhood.

Sexton chilled out at the tree and caught a few winks but didn't quite like what he woke up to... He didn't get woken up by some creature.. no if only. Instead he opened his eyes to seeing everything upside down. He was tied upside down in vines from feet to shoulders. Apparently someone or something had his way with him while he was napping. Sexton tried to struggle his way out as he started to swing back and forth but it was to no avail, the vines weren't quite as flimsy as you would hope. Sexton had an idea, in the darkness was a faint blue glow as the vine started to freeze in an area the size of a pear. "Oh god this is gonna hurt..." Sexton said as he started swinging for the tree.

After so much momentum was gained, Sexton smacked straight into the tree shattering the ice and freeing his hand. He apparently froze the vines with his ice enchantment. Sexton side was pretty hurt after that but he couldn't let that stop him he had to get down or he would be Wolfos meat. He used his arm to free some more space to make him more mobile. He eventually reached up and broke the vine he was dangling by. He didn't think that out though because he was falling head first. Sexton closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on using Feather Fall. Sexton slowed his decent and had enough time to pivot his body to fall onto his back. It sent a jolt down his spine but it wasn't enough to knock him out, just the wind.

"Well maybe they aren't vegetarians." he thought aloud about the Wolfos for he now realized he was stuck on the ground if they decided to come unless they didn't want to eat through the vines, though Sec didn't figure they would care. Lucky for him the fall loosened the Vines considerably and he could wiggle his way out. Without much thought he dusted himself of and followed the watery trail further into the swamp. He looked back but he didn't recognize anything. Who or whatever tied him to the tree moved him away from his original positioning. What he didn't know is that he was now in the heart of the swamp...

"Blah," said the Zora as he cut down some swamp grass that had grown up with his dagger. "Where did the River Fish go?" The Zora questioned as he tore through the grass looking for them, he had been wondering around for the past hour, forty minutes of which was totally and completely lost but he assured himself he knew exactly where he was going. "Shark bait will be right around the corner... There! He! Is!!!" The Zora excitedly ran off to see a figure with his daggers out.. but was it the River Zora or something much worse?

Beck kept running for the figure as he tackled it to the ground before staring at it viciously. Seconds later his face softened before stating, "You're not scaly enough to be a fish!" Beck stayed on guard as he gripped his daggers tightly. "My apologies."

The figure rose and brushed off his clothing. "I hate this swamp!" yelled Sexton who just got pounced on by the Zora. "Is that how you great everyone?"

"As I said my apologies... I get rather excited when I hunt river fish." he said as he held his hand out. "Beck Von Brooks, travelling musician extraordinare."

Sec stared confused, "So what is a musician doing chasing fish?"

Beck took a deep breath, "Do you want to get wrapped up in details or do you want to tell me what dry skin like you is doing in this swamp?"

Sexton stared off into the darkness in anger, "Octorock stole almost everything I have. Also there are monsters that keep stealing all the girls from around my town."

Beck got fairly excited at the thought of saving a few damsels, "I can almost bet that the River Fish were the ones that stole your women. I am hunting them too so lets travel together."

Sexton agreed as the fateful encounter between the two ended. Sadly the day was over and they were in the swamp at night. Unbeknownst to them the River Zora were listening to every word from a distance. They planned an ambush..

Without very much more than a scream a team of four River Zora ran out and began their attack. The Hylian and his excitable partner were shocked at the attack as four snarling River Zora surrounded them with tribal weaponry. "These aren't the sharkbait that hurt the fish," Beck said with a scoff. "But me and you can handle them."

Sexton was shaking, he had seen Zora before so Beck wasn't too much of a surprise. But these seemed almost like savages, one carried around a supply of throwing axes with jagged edges. One of the others carried some knives slightly smaller than Sexton's daggers. One would be fairly dangerous, he wore a bow and arrow and seemed to be the leader. Finally the last one had a huge blunt club. Each of them besides the archer had a shield. Undoubtedly it wouldn't take much to cut through it but it is still a defense that would have to be accounted for.

The tream

These Zora seemed like savages, Sexton stood still and thought about what to do. It was hard to tell if he was being scared or calculating. However Beck had a totally different approach. The excitable Lake Zora charged forward with his Dagger and started to charge after the one with the blunt club. The River Zora seemed to hold up its shield to protect itself but Beck merely used his electric-like shield. The River Zora shook in a viscous manner as it got electrocuted. After the electricity quit pumping through his system the savage continued to attack as the blunt object was swung hard. Beck jumped out of the way and stabbed a knife into the back. The Knife stuck due to the jagged hook like edged. The savage moved it's shield and knocked the hell out of Beck with a backarm, forcing the Zora to the ground.

The Zora with a bow was sizing up Beck with a kill shot as Sexton saw this and decided to plan one of his own. He was almost too late as he shot it hit the Zora's shoulder a mere second before it shot its own arrow. The arrow hitting the shoulder made the savage lose aim as the arrow landed inches away from Beck's face. Without the archers knowledge, Sec ran out and jabbed a dagger through the distracted Zora's chest before removing it. The blood was pretty sickening and made Sec stand in trauma.

"Alright River Fish," said Beck as he started charging at the Zora wanting his knife back. He still had one and used it to attack, slicing through the shield at first before holding it to his throat. He forced the Zora to the ground, as he mounted him and broke his neck swiftly. He then took the knife forcibly out of the back and stood. "Get some.. now where did that other fish go to."

Sexton then broke out of the trance and started looking around to see nothing. The blunt hammer was gone, and saw was the bow, on further examination the dead Zora's quiver was also gone. Apparently the savage stole his comrades things and fled. Things got worse when the moon got covered by a thick layer of clouds. Things were nearly pitch black.. "Ah! This is horrible."

"Calm down shark bait," said the Zora as he put his daggers up. "I still can smell, the River Fish are gone. Also if you look around you'll see a light as if a fire has been set up ahead. Dry wood isn't too common around here so this is definitely someone who was planning ahead. Let's chase after the fire"

The duo continued into the center of the swamp toward the makeshift campsite. Sexton looked down at his boots and realized how disgusting they looked. He continued to go to the campfire as he could finally see a silhouette of the Zora running with him. They finally got into a clearing, vacant of trees and perfectly visible. This area is completely vacant besides a lone river zora that seemed to be the leader. But on closer examination there were jail cells that had a volley of women in it. They didn't have anytime to plan as they were seen and the savage ran for them with brutal force.
