Equipment:
Everywhere he goes, Eugene lugs around a large cannon on wheels. which he found in disrepair in an alley in castle town. It’s his trusty companion, and often trusty steed when travelling downhill.
He also carries a small dagger on a belt around his waist and has studs on his gloves should he have to fight with his hands. His personal belongings are usually kept in a bag he stuffs in his cannon when he is travelling, only taking it out when he has to use his cannon in battle.
His bag contains very little. Just some sugared candy, which he came to love during his time among humans, a flask of liquor and a map of Hyrule, covered with scribbles of what he has seen and what his routes from place to place have been.

Appearance:
As a deku, Eugene has a wooden body of course, topped with the orange leaves of a swamp deku. He also has a small moustache of bright orange leaves just above his mouth. He has a rather small build with short limbs and a large head.
As for clothes, Eugene wears tight white leather pants and a loose hanging white sleeveless vest. Around his neck is a large golden medallion with an ‘E’ inscribed on it. He also wears black boots and black fingerless gloves.

Personality:
Flamboyant, fabulous and flirty are three words that describe Eugene well. He has an outspoken, almost showman-like personality and flirts with everything that moves, man, woman and genderless alike. Not everyone appreciates this though. Eugene doesn’t care and often sees a turndown of his advances on someone as an encouragement to go on to make people like him. Usually it has the opposite effect and he has often been threatened to be fired from his own cannon.
He doesn’t mind a dirty joke or two, in fact, he loves making them himself. Eugene also often comes up with bad puns.
Getting into a fight is no problem for him. His travels throughout Hyrule have taught him a lot in the way of defense and battle, and he won’t back down from a fight. He can even be quite vicious in a fight.

Backstory:
Eugene was born in a simple, muddy burrow somewhere in the soggy earth of the swamp. He spent much of his early life playing in the swamp with other deku children, although he quickly discovered he didn’t like mudfights as much as the other deku boys did. He was much more interested in what the girls did, such as skipping rope games, braiding the long leafy hairs of the other girls and dressing up. As he grew up into a teenager, he started to notice that the other dekus in the swamp were by far not as hygienic as he himself was. He also started to find them a bit…uncultured.
Eugene had read about Hylians and the other races in a book a traveler gave him when he passed through the swamp. From that book he had learned about the traditions, way of dressing and customs of the other races, and made him come to the conclusion that the swamp dekus were rather crude. He longed to see what was in his eyes a graceful and wonderful civilization, and became determined to see a Hylian himself. And as such he moved out of the swamp at age 20, and started on a journey through Hyrule, with Castle Town as his final destination.
Soon, he learned the world outside the swamp was a hard one. The war with Ganon was just starting, and most of the land was in chaos. As soon as word reached Eugene what happened to south Hyrule, he changed his planned route that went across the eastern sea and through south Hyrule, and instead traveled north, past lake Hylia to the lost woods. It was when he finally, after months of travel, came through Lon Lon Ranch that he met his first Hylian. He was overjoyed to see that the Hylians were as elegant as he had imagined them.
Ever since then he has been horrified by the thought of living with his family in the swamp again. Though he occasionally writes letters and visits them once a year, he much prefers to be among Hylians and other races in Castle Town. You could say he is a little ashamed of his family, living in a muddy burrow and by far not as elegant as Hylians or Gerudos.
From then on he had found where he had wanted to be. Among Hylians, not the swamp dekus. He quickly left Lon Lon Ranch and continued his journey to Castle Town. That’s where he got his trusty cannon, found in disrepair in the Goron Slums. He took it with him and repaired it. He also temporarily took up a job at a local blacksmith to save up money to buy a house in Castle Town. He’s not home often, he mostly travels around, hooking up with whoever he meets on the road.
