Ethereal String is a simple material that a Weaponsmith into any item he or she can craft. Ethereal String appears as a softly glowing string that is typically manifested by reaching between and pulling in the space between two magically linked crystal rings, and only forms when the wielder wishes. The Ethereal String can be permanently tangible if the wielder wishes, but can be damaged during this time. Should the Ethereal String ever be sliced, it can be reformed by the wielder by pulling between the rings as normal. Given that the Ethereal String completely replaces the typical string on a weapon, the draw weight and other simple changes can be made by twisting the crystal rings.
