    Name: Sonata of Awakening

P/W/C Type: Courage? Giving life to something?

    Appearance: N/A

Description of Function: The character may play a tune which, when completed, will animate a single non-humanoid statue. It will follow the player's commands to the best of its ability but will act independently of him.

Limitations: Only lasts for a few minutes, depending on the size of the statue being enchanted. Once time is up, the statue will freeze and become an inanimate object once more.

What kind of mobility is granted to the statue in question?

The same mobility it would have if it were a real creature, I suppose. Perhaps less?

    Re: Sonata of Awakening

Unless a statue was designed to have moveable limbs or parts, I don't see why they should have the same mobility as a flesh and blood creature. Stone isn't exactly malleable.

So we could add in a "but the movement speed of the animated statue will be much less than an identical creature of flesh and blood" clause. Would that work, and if so, what else needs fixing?

I think that bit would go without saying--look at Armos. Those things have to hop to move, given their legless, flat base, but more recent ones look to have functional, if limited, arms that can move expressly for such a purpose. I imagine if a statue doesn't have arms or legs in swiveling sockets, they can't do much other than hop.

What should be changed/edited in, then?

There's not... Quill, nothing needs to be changed; I would've said so if something did need to be changed.

So, I don't need to put anything in about mobility? It's fine as is?

A note about mobility would be fine, but otherwise yes, the treasure is fine. I'm okay with a song bringing statues to life temporarily.

I'd be okay with the statues having more mobility like we see in movies and such, with cracks appearing at the limbs to facilitate movement, but if we do go that route you'd probably need the statue to fall apart afterwards due to the damage caused by said movement.

All I had meant about changing is that the treasure otherwise doesn't have major problems that need to be addressed.

Err, so some clarification real quick on this one. You say it has to be a "non-humanoid statue" that can be awakened. Does this mean that if I were in Hyrule Square, and there was a statue of the Hero of Time and a statue of a lion-like creature, I could animate the lion but not the hero statue to go hopping around?

I just didn't want to override the Command Melody. Do you think they're different enough for that to be taken out?

    Re: Sonata of Awakening [1/2]

You know, for some reason I had thought Command Melody had already received a "If the user has specialty: [Music] then the caster may move while willing inanimate objects to move as well" or something of the sorts. But it hasn't, and I think maybe it should. Command Melody can already move any type of statue, humanoid or non, so adding the possibility for indirect control would kind of wrap all these effects up into one, instead of two treasures.

Would you be against simply changing this into an edit for Command Melody?

    Re: Command Melody Addition [2/2]

If the user has Specialty: [Music]: The caster may move normally while willing the controlled statue to move as well.
