    Name: “Captain” Marcus Hawke

    Age: 20

    Gender: Male

    Race: Hylian

    Place of Origin:The Lost Woods

    PWC: 3/1/3

    Treasures:
    Rupee Riches +50
    Sense -0
Rupees: 150 (100 from starting, 50 from Rupee riches, to be spent during his first RP)

    Height: 6’3”

    Weight: 175

    Equipment: Goron Forged Greatsword

Appearance: The first thing most people notice about Marcus is his extremely well muscled body, which he tends to show off as much as he can. Although it was never in his blood to be hugely bulky, Marcus’ body is toned to a picturesque swimmers build. The sailor wears little in the way of armor, considering his reddish greatcoat and vest beneath enough. Keeping Marcus’ mess of brown hair from getting in his face is a white patterned black bandanna. Marcus wears somewhat loose fitting pants as well as a sturdy pair of leather boots.

Marcus received many of his facial features from his father. They share the same angular structure, the same thin lips and the same nose. Another thing the sailor picked up from his father was the smirk he almost always wears on his face that practically screams arrogance. The one thing Marcus did inherit from his mother was his bright green eyes that emanate the sheer ferocity welled up inside the man.

Personality: Marcus tends to be a more laid back person, at least when he’s not fighting someone or something, or if he’s not sailing. The man tends to be on the quiet side, but when engaged in a conversation he proves to be blunt and thoughtful at times. Through years around the Goron, Marcus is man who will never back down from a challenge, no matter who the opponent.

In battle, or any competition really, Marcus becomes extremely focused and is completely unrelenting. This ferocity is only intensified when fighting any of Ganon’s minions due to the pain they have brought to his family. Not only is Marcus talented in combat, he loves it. If he is fighting for too long though he tends to go into a blind rage, though this has only happened a couple times, and only against a mob of Ganon’s minions.

When sailing Marcus is completely serious and anyone on his ship best had better do their best to avoid disrupting the workings of his ship. The Athena is Marcus’ most prized possession, and if anything (else) were to happen to her, he would go to the ends of Hyrule to find the perpetrator.

Residence: While Marcus has no permanent residence, he is always welcome back at his childhood home in the Northern Hills, and there is always a room waiting at the small inn on his way through Lon Lon Ranch.

Backstory: Marcus was born in the Lost Woods of Hyrule, though he himself does not remember much about his time there. His parents had been long time residents in the bandit community and, even though neither of them considered themselves thieves of any kind, were well liked in the community. Once Marcus was born his mother, Fiona, spent all of her time taking care of him, which left his father, James, to provide for his family. Not wanting to resort to thievery, James used his hunting skills to trade meat for whatever his family needed.

The first few years of Marcus’ life passed without incident, but with the reemergence of Ganon James felt the woods were going to become even more menacing as time went on so he took his family to where he thought would be the safest place: The Northern Hills. The trek from the Lost Woods to the mountains took two days in total; they were lucky to come across a caravan heading to Castle Town that dropped the family off at the base of the hills. When the Hawke family arrived in the Goron camp, they were met with odd looks seeing as the Gorons themselves had just arrived there not but a few weeks before and hadn’t had any Hylian visitors. Nonetheless the family was welcomed into the community.

Marcus’ childhood was spent around the relaxed lifestyle of the mountain camp. His father still hunted but it was more just for their own supply of meat than to trade for other goods as well. Fiona had become a sort of caretaker for the children in the camp seeing as Marcus had made many friends in his short time there. As Marcus was closer to adolescence than toddlerhood, James tried to teach his son how to use a bow. Marcus lacked any natural talent with the hunting tool, but his father did not want his son to be helpless so he started teaching him swordplay. The young boy certainly made up for whatever skill he lacked for the bow with his raw talent with the sword.

When Marcus was 13 years old a Hylian man came to the Goron Camp to talk to his father. Apparently the man had been a good friend of James’ back when they lived in the Lost Woods, and had a business proposition. The man named Erik was offering his father a spot on a sailing vessel. James was a captain on a fishing boat before meeting Fiona and was seriously considering the job. Taking it meant he would spend much of his time away from his family, but it paid well and he could send the money home. After a few days of talking it over with Fiona, the two decided it was best for him to take the offer.

Marcus trained diligently as his father instructed him before leaving, and he started sparing with some of his Goron friends. While Marcus was tall for his age when he first started out he stood no chance against the dense Gorons. After a few months of countless defeats, Marcus figured out how to use their own weight against them, though through the process he became very strong. As he became progressively stronger Marcus would use larger and larger swords until he was quite deft with large two handed swords many young men his age would have trouble wielding. Every year Marcus’ father would come home during the winter months and check on his son’s progress, and every year the man was thoroughly impressed.

It had been four years since James first started on the boat when he decided it was time to take Marcus with him. Fiona was reluctant to the idea for obvious reasons; she didn’t want to lose the two most important people in her life, but eventually she gave in. In the week before the two were supposed to leave, James commissioned the best smith in the camp to forge a greatsword for his son. Once preparations were finished the day the two were to set off, James presented his son with the sturdy sword and then headed southwest for the small port where the ship was docked.

The journey took the pair through Lon Lon Ranch, which was the first Hylian settlement Marcus had seen. The young man thought he was getting weird looks from the locals but his father reassured him that it was just because he hadn’t been around many Hylians before. James took them the inn he always stayed in and was greeted by the innkeeper’s daughter who gave him the key to his usual room. She didn’t realize Marcus was with him and quickly exchanged the key for a room with two beds. On their way out the next morning, the innkeeper’s daughter and a few of her friends were gathered and as soon as they spotted Marcus they started to giggle. At the time the young sailor didn’t understand why they were so giggly, but on his way back the next fall he found out.

Marcus proved to be just as talented a sailor as he was a swordfighter, if not more talented. The novice sailor picked up everything he was taught almost immediately; every instruction, every name for every piece of equipment or tool, how the ship worked, and how read the wind. After hearing about the progress Marcus had made throughout the season, Phillip, the Ruto Lady’s captain, decided that in the next season James and his son would have their own ship, but still work under him. The two quickly took him up on the offer and rushed back to their home in the hills.

The next spring the two men set off in their new vessel and went on longer runs than the other ship would go on, such as Southern Hyrule and near Mido. The father and son team were having the time of their lives and were getting plenty of passengers. They were making their last run to South Hyrule, and were docked for the night when their ship was boarded, though not by anything human. Marcus was the first to wake and was paralyzed with fear. He had never seen such creatures before and had no idea what they were. If it weren’t for his father the large stalfos would have knocked him off the boat. The young sailor quickly jumped into his first real fight following the lead of his father. Marcus had caught one of the moblins off guard and got a good slash across its back though it quickly turned around and tried to stab him with its spear. Marcus was too fast for the pig-like monster and stabbed it through the stomach then pulling out his large blade and kicking the underling off the boat. Marcus turned to see that his father had already taken out the other moblin and as he turned around James felled one of the stalfos. Before the young sailor realized the other stalfos had swung its mace into the captain’s back; spikes poking out all over his front. James fell to his knees and dropped his sword, blood pooling around him. Upon seeing this Marcus went into a blind rage and wailed on the stalfos from behind, even after it collapsed to the deck. The young sailor went to his father who had gone from his knees to laying on the deck. James was taking his last few breathes, during which he instructed that Marcus go back home and comfort his mother, and that since he was the only other crew member, he was now the captain. As the captain it was his duty to give a proper burial to his crew, and after disposing of the remains of the monsters, the new captain started construction on a coffin for his father from the very vessel he died on. The next evening as the sun was setting; Marcus gave his father a sailor’s funeral and then found a spot to anchor for the night.

A week later Marcus was home with his mother who hadn’t stopped crying since he gave her the dreadful news. The winter went on without much said between the two; Marcus spent a lot of his time trying to relax in the hot springs and his mother rarely ventured out of their home. The next spring the captain didn’t say anything to his mother when he left. When Marcus arrived at the usual Lon Lon Ranch inn he was first met with giddy young ladies, but after seeing the mood he was in, all but the innkeeper’s daughter had resumed their lives in the farming village. The innkeeper’s daughter noticed that his father wasn’t with him and soon came to the realization that he had died. The two then spent much of the night reminiscing about the man; Marcus about his father, and the young woman about the sailor who was built up to legend status in her mind. In the morning the captain left the inn and the woman he now knew as Emily, only thinking of the fall when he would return.

Marcus sailed the Athena alone that season, mostly due to an unspoken understanding from his employer Phillip who would have normally insisted he at least have a first-mate. The season was mostly uneventful, though there was one client that did stand out; a red haired gerudo woman. When he arrived to port he decided he didn’t want to work for Phillip anymore and used the money he had earned to buy the Athena. On his way home that fall he found that the inn he usually stayed in had itself a new name; The Fisherman’s Inn. Apparently while he had been out that season Emily’s father had grown too old to run the inn and let his daughter have full reign over the business. That winter Marcus only returned home for a week, not wanting to be around his depressed mother for too long.

The next spring Marcus returned to the port where the Athena was docked only to find that it had been severely vandalized by who were probably members of the company quit the previous fall.

Alright, this is well written, but I have a few small problems with it.

First off, your description of the character sounds much more like a P5 than a C5. Your character has a P score of 1; the dude's below average physical strength. This means that he cannot have an "extremely well muscled body," nor can he conceivably easily wielding great, double-handed swords. P1=horrible physical strength. Consider changing the points to Power, or change the description of the character.

Secondly, you need to purchase the Athena as a treasure; look in the Library for its costs (after deciding your character's PWC score, of course).

Thirdly, was the Goron greatsword forged with Goron Iron? Or is it, for all intents and purposes, a normal greatsword? Here is the Library's description of weapons forged with Goron Iron:

Think about the three points, edit your post accordingly, then when you think its ready for another look, post a reply and let me know. Good job; I like your writing. A few spelling errors, and it could have gone in greater detail, but still; it was good. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, either here, in a private PM, or on the C-box.
