I thought I might move this from the old site to the new one, so if you posted in the one on the old site, feel free to post on this one.

If your here, you most likely like the Zelda games. So to give new members something to talk about when the first join, I've posted this topic.

Which Zelda game got you hooked on the series?

Are you and Old School fan, that played his/her first game on the NES/SNES, a New Gen guy/gal that got started on the new generation of 3D zelda games on the N64, or a Next Gen player who got hooked with the new games on the advance technology of the Wii & DS?

Who is your Favorite Zelda character?

Just so this post doesn't get to long, I'll keep my answers brief. OoT was the first Zelda game I played, so I would be considered a New Gen fan, and my favorite character it Tetra from the Wind Waker.

Eh, might as well copypasta my response:

The first Zelda game I actually played was Ocarina of Time, which shouldn't be much of a surprise. It was on a neighbor's system, so I ended up borrowing (and practically stealing) it until the game was beaten. It would be a couple years before I actually bought OoT for myself. The first Zelda I actually owned was Link's Awakening DX, which, ironically, is one of few I still haven't beaten all the way to the end. I've since played every game in the main Zelda series, and beaten most of them. Though I've played several fan-made and other non-cannon Zeldas, before anyone asks, I have not played any of the three Phillips CD-I games and have no desire to do so.

My favorite character is unequivocally Saria, from Ocarina of Time.

I'll admit, the first Zelda game I played was OoT. The console was my sister's and at the time I really didn't care enough to get past Dodongo's cavern. I'd usually just pop onto her save file and listen to the music in Lost Woods/Gerudo Valley. We also had Oracle of Ages for the gameboy, but I don't think it was until Windwaker that I really got hooked on the series.

Think I already said this on the old site, but it was Majora's Mask. At the time I remember being scared of everything and going into the fields then running back screaming at the first sight of monsters. Basically I ran around with a deku mask in Clock Town finding hidden chests and trying to catch the "person with the pikachu mask" until I got older and realized there was more XD Been hooked ever since.

My first game was OoT on the n64. My step brother owned it... don't remember ever getting past the forest temple though... I'm replaying it on an emulator atm... just getting some final items before heading to Ganon.

My favorite game is Lttp though. CJ got me playing that one. He's my personal walkthrough. :P I'm terrible at it though. ./shudder

For me it was OoT back when I was 6 I went to my unlce and aunts and they had it. Though I had little to no clue what to do I still though of it as a good game.

Many years have passed and since then on my Wii I own 4 out of the 5 Virtual consal games and TP.

Out of all my cahracters I don't know who my favorite is: it's either Saria or Ruto. Both are pretty good characters

Hooray, I'm not cliched. I probably played OoT a long time ago in a galaxy(neighborhood) far far away, but the one that got me hooked was surprisingly oracle of seasons. I then got a GC and got the collectors edition and later WW and so on and so forth.

I think all that I really need to say is Link to the Past for the SNES.

Really, anyone that knows me knows this and really there isn't much to say about my most favorite game of all time and probably the best Zelda game in the series.

I'm actually a newer fan, I caught on pretty quick though, as for my first Zelda, it was OoT on the wii shop channel around 3 years ago. Yeah, I'm a little late to the party, but if you knew me in the cbox, you'd know I'm late to finding most cool things like that.

My best friend had a NES and The Legend of Zelda at his place. we were probably 4 or 5 and we'd sit in his family room for hours trying to beat the first dungeon. To this day I hold that the game is impossible, the speed runs on YouTube are photoshopped. The kid in green reminded me of myself (the 'Link" avatar and Miyamoto's childhood romps through the woods nonwithstanding) and captured my imagination. Then cameOoT and LA around the same time. And oddly enough, those two are tied for best game ever. Anyway, I got hooked on the first one and I am and forever will be and old-school gamer. As for favorite character...I won't say Link although he is awesome........um, it could be Vio (he doesn't count as Link, go away!) or...Demise was a killer personality. Ralph was fun, Marin was Link's perfect match, the Skull Kid was twisted and deep, ??? was...odd. Kaepora? Man, there are so many to choose from...I'd have to say for the point of this question, it's an even split between Vio and Cojiro.

The first zelda game that I played was actually Oracle of Seasons. I loved, and so I decided to play some of the other games; since the N64 was my first non-handheld system, that means that OoT and MM came first. Eventually, I got a hold of Alttp, etc. But it was really OoS, OoT, and MM that did it for me... In fact, MM had a lot to do with getting me hooked, and it remains to be my favorite.

Cloudzy pretty much said it perfectly. My earliest memory consists of me in 1998 playing Ocarina of Time on my dad's lap. I needed help holding the controller, since I was only 3 at the time :tpr:

I was raised on Legend of Zelda; I can't ever remember NOT playing them. So, I'm not sure which actually got me hooked, but it would probably be OoT, since it was probably the first that I actually played.

The first game I ever played was Ocarina of Time, so Ocarina of Time. And by first, I was practically born and they were like, "Oh a baby he likes games give him Zelda."

The Minish Cap got me hooked so I guess I'm a new gen-ish fan. I immediately decided to play all of the games from beginning to end and I'm now on Link's Awakening. I know this is cliche but Link is probably my favorite character just because he links the stories together. :D

First Zelda I played was ALttP. I was like 3 back then and the game was helping me learn to read before school and all that. The difficulty was off the charts for a little kid though... Then Sometime around 96 or 97 when I was like 5 or so I first played TAoL. Now that game was dumb hard and I didn't realize it was actually not Zelda like til later. Eventually stuff happened and my brother wound up in the hospital over asthma attacks and they had a game room in there. With OCARINA OF TIME! They would bring the N64 into my brother's room and I would watch him play until I was old enough. That was all she wrote for me. I became a hardcore Zelda fan after first playing Majora's Mask though which is still my favorite to this day. I've beaten every 3D Zelda aside of Skyward Sword on 3 heart runs and gotten 100% completion In all of them aside of Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons, WW, and TP.

I never owned a DS though so Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks haven't been played :(

A Link to the Past. I got it when I was six (when it was released), and I've been a fan of the series ever since.

Although, OoT was really the game that got me borderline obsessed with the series six years or so later.

It was definitely Ocarina of Time. I was around 4-5 when I first played it when it came out. It completely changed my perception of what games were, and from then on, I've been addicted to Zelda. (Funny enough, Majora's Mask was the last one I beat. I have played basically up to the end of every Zelda, but for some reason, never beat them)

Same here. Ocarina of Time may not have been my first Zelda game (that honor goes to Zelda II), but it was the one that got me interested in the franchise as a whole.
