The high pitched whistle coming from the now-exposed steam pipes echoed around the room. Certainly annoying, Nicholas thought, but it was hard to believe that it breaking was intentional. The lift was still inoperable though without flipping a switch, so the warrior went over to the one closest to where he stood and activated it. A flashing jolt pulsed into the pipes, but he quickly lost track of where it went. He frowned as he glanced around, noting no change in the room. He shrugged to the Kokiri, moving towards another switch.

"Are we just going to need to use them all to get this going?" he pondered to his companion as he reached another switch. Pulling it, a moment went by before slits opened along the top of the walls, reflected light shining into the room at odd angles, The light reflected off the icy floor, further bouncing around the room in concentrated beams. The room was quickly become a mess of sights and sounds that were highly distracting.

So much so, Nicholas never heard the dull hum of the frozen armors coming to life.

"Wait, I wouldn't start randomly press-" Rika was cut off as blinding light bounced from wall to wall. His ears were being assaulted by the steam pipes and his eyes by the light, it was awful. "This is what I meant!" Rika shouted at Nicholas over the violent hissing. There was little they could do about it now, but it was more than unpleasant. There had to be some sort of trick to the room, it couldn't be something as simple as random chance- this place was too complex for that. What could it be. . . "Argh!" He shouted, frustrated. "I can't think right now!" His senses were being violated far too heavily for him to focus. Stepping back to move out of the way of the blinding light, his eyes opened to see the armored statue bouncing towards him, violently colliding with the Kokiri and sending him flying back into a steam pipe.

"Aah! Shit!" Rika cried out in pain as the steam burned at him- though his many layers helped protect him from notable damage, the temperatures could still be felt as he fell through the steam. Quickly rolling over to his feet, Rika began moving- though where, he had a hard time seeing through the blinding light and fogging steam. "We've got company, Nicholas!" was all the Kokiri shouted as he tried to make distance between himself and where he thought the statued enemy might be.

He was just pondering pulling a third switch when he heard Rika's shouts. He whipped around in time to stick out his right arm, bracing against the frost-clad armored statue that slammed into him. He kept the machination at arm's length as his feet slide back along the cool floor. It leaped again as he narrowly slipped to the right as it slammed into the wall. Pushing off the wall himself, the Hylian darted forward as he saw three more statues had come to life. One was assaulting the Kokiri mage while another followed behind. The last one was coming towards Nicholas even as the one against the wall turned to give chase.

Sprinting across the room, the warrior deftly tossed one of his ignition powders at the left of the statue in front of him, giving him room to dash past it as it hopped aside. Leaping forward with a clear shot, he hooked his clawed fingers around the upper arm joint of the statue and landed beside it and twisting sharply. As it jumped, he spun with all his might and sent both the statue and himself clattering across the floor away from Rika. Before he had even stopped rolling, he scrambled at the fallen statue and punched it square in it's masked face.

He punched and punched, leaving dents in the helmet's mask but the statue kept struggling. Could they even kill these things? Nicholas didn't have anymore time to attack though, as the other two descended on him and forced him to roll out of the way.

Now painfully aware of the threat in the room, Rika's eyes glared across the armored statue bouncing towards him. He was able to get a better look at his foe, the once inanimate statue they had seen. Aside from its bouncing, it seemed to be the same as it once was- there were no appendages gripping steel or clawing forth from its body, no legs propelling it forward. It was still a bundle of clay and steel, now with the ability to thrash forward across the ice. And so it did- its body violently crashed against the ice at its metallic feet, sending chunks of the clear ice flying outward as it propelled toward the Kokiri.

Attacking its outward skeleton would be an effort in futility, Rika was quick to surmise. While not entirely ineffective, it would take some time to penetrate the armored exoskeleton, and it would be far quicker to attack from within. Grabbing onto the statue as it leaped at Rika, he spun around onto its back. Sliding his palm in the slit of its helm, a searing bolt of embers erupted against the less durable clay within, tearing its would-be skull apart. While Rika hopped off the statue, it was sent crashing down, skidding across and tearing apart the ice further. It thrashed in place, still mobile but with some form of its sensory capabilities damaged. This left Rika vulnerable to the statue leaping from behind. He had no choice but to grab onto it, hastily clinging like some sort of bull ride as it thrashed around wildly- in the direction of another statue. They were attempting to crash into each other and make an armored sandwich, with Rika as the meat.

He had no choice but to drop, with no chance to consider if steam or what-have-you awaited him below. The statues collided with one another, but the damage they incurred seemed negligible. Wait, that was all three statues. What the hell was Nicholas doing, then?!

Tumbling to his feet, Nicholas quickly searched the room and found to his surprise that there was another statue in the room with them. At some point one more had appeared, from where the warrior had no idea, but it now put them two against six.

"Wait, six?" Nicholas frowned, counting off the hopping armored statues in his head. "That can't be right. Rika, how many were we fighting? Five, right?" No sooner had the Hylian said that, he was forced to evade along the wall, springing away from a crushing tackle and landing a couple feet to his left.

He could clearly see seven statues in the room with them. Another one leaped towards him, but he rebuked its advance with a heavy punch, gritting his teeth as he pushed back against it. Eyes quickly darting along the walls, he finally saw the sliding mechanism that seemed to push another one from the interior of the tower. Some kind of manufacturing contraption, which was producing more armored soldiers before they had managed to deal with one.

"We need to shut this down!" Nicholas bellowed across the room, pushing the stomping statue away and dashing for the nearest lever. He flipped it back the way he had found it, but it didn't change anything they could see. He swore under his breath.

"If only we could get the elevator working!"

Tumbling downward, Rika had little time to glance at the after-effects of his rodeo joyride, though the clashing and smashing of stone and steel behind him seemed to relay some level of effectiveness. With little time to waste, Rika pushed himself to his feet. That was when he heard Nicholas call out, and it confirmed to Rika that Nicholas was not actually just incompetent- well, it was a tad hasty to assume that, still-, but that more had sprung up from somewhere.

"There were three! There's more, now!" He called out to no particular direction. That's when his attention was drawn to the sliding door dropping statue after statue down at them. Surely there would be an end to them, but if Rika was a betting man he would figure it would be long after they met their end. "Work on stopping the armos, I'll figure out the elevator!" He barked out toward Nicholas. It was easier said than done, however; Nicholas surely had the far easier job. He only had to deal with stopping or blocking an opening and with some bouncing statues. Rika had to figure out how these mechanisms worked while being assaulted from every possible angle.

As another statue gained on the Kokiri, he let his instincts react for him. His fist chilled over with ice, and he bit through the stinging, chilling pain and slammed the statue in the chest. His fist alone did little to harm its frozen exterior, but the punch had an additional effect. Ice enveloped the statue and froze it to the ground, completely immobilizing it and its movement.

Next was to figure the switches out. Rika had quickly learned flipping one was a mistake- steady, electrical bolts shot out from wall to wall, forming an electrical net of sorts and further limiting their movement. Rika could feel his body burning as he was struck directly, his body-and voice- crying out as he out of the way of the beams. Yet, despite the violent reaction, he was smiling. It was primarily because the voltage, while painful, was surely not enough to kill him, but for another reason as well. He saw a small flash of light shoot from the switch and travel across the piping. While his eyes failed to follow the near-instant flash, all he would have to do would be to follow the pipe extending from the elevator to its switch. While amid the noise, blinding light, merciless statues, and now an electrical net limiting their movements. Simple, really.

"I will do what I can!" Nicholas shouted to his companion as he darted into action. It was obvious to him that he would need to block the sliding panel from spitting out more statues first and foremost. He made a dash in the direction of the panel, but veered to his right to backhand one of the hopping armos on the way, drawing its attention to him as he ran past. Reaching into the pouch at his hip, he drew out two of the ever useful ignition powders and took aim.

The first pouch he hurled directly at a statue, the blast of air forced the statue to stagger backwards. He held the second one ready for when he neared the panel, aiming at the ground as he threw it at a jumping armos. The burst of air helped propel the statue into the air, much further than it should of, and sent it crashing past the warrior.

Reaching the sliding panel, he did what he always did and slammed his armored fist into it, hoping to dent the door. It didn't seem to cause much damage though, so he needed to come up with something with a bit more finesse. Looking back towards the advancing armos, he sprinted to the closest one and jumped gracefully over top of it, placing his hand on its shoulder as he landed behind it, using his other arm as leverage as he shoved the hopping machine.

If his fist alone couldn't make a dent, perhaps a battering ram would.

Luckily for Rika, Nicholas’s new directive seemed to draw the attention of the Armos, so he could act mostly unabated. Unluckily for Nicholas, this meant most of the statues were converging on him, but that was his problem to deal with. Bouncing his way to the elevator with haste, it was rather simple to find the pipe that would trigger the lift; after all, there was only a single pipe extending from its bottom. The difficulty, then, would be tracing it amid the maze it entered and following it to the exit. For Rika though, this did not seem that complicated either, especially as Nicholas had held the attention of most of the foes in the room.

Rika began tracing the piping. Should the scarce Armos have attempted to interrupt him, he plunged his scythe into the point in the ground he was at and blew the armored figure away before continuing along. Quickly enough, he made his way to a switch, and with full certainty that it was the correct one, he pressed it. Nothing happened. The Kokiri froze, confused. It should have been the correct one, what was the problem? The fact that no adverse effects had happened seemed to only support that.

His eyes scanned the pathway he had traced, and that made the reason why perfectly clear. From the combat with the Armos, chunks of ice across the room had been blown out of the ground, and with them, pieces of piping had been torn and ripped apart. Such a spot was directly in the path between the switch and elevator, severing their connection.

“Ugh, damn it!” He cursed, his mind spinning with ideas of how to get around it. That’s when it hit him, like the most obvious solution; they just had to repair the connection. “Nicholas, we need to repair the link between the switch and elevator! We need to stick something metal in between!” He shouted to the Hylian as he began thinking about what might work.

Bracing against the icy floor as he charged forward, Nicholas used his enhanced strength to drive the bouncing statue into the half-opened production door. The sickening crunch of grinding stone and whirring gears biting into themselves echoed as he wedged the statue in the way. He kicked at the bottom to help position it more firm and gave it a final shove to catch it in place. That's one problem down, he thought to himself as he turned towards his ally. He looked first at the damaged ground where Rika indicated the pipe had broke, then surveyed the room quickly before springing out of the way. The remaining foes were still rampaging, so he had to act fast.

Arcing through the air, he glanced towards the switch he had first flipped that seemed to trigger the armos production. As soon as his foot touched the ground he twisted and sprung forward, leaping once more to clear one of the charging statues. His hand darted out to catch the wall to guide him down to the ground, his other fishing into his pouch. As his feet landed, his stance spread to lock him in place.

"HHHHHHRAAAAAAGH!" he roared out as spectral black shadows erupted from his body, flecks of gold licking at the edges of the dark flames as they consumed his right arm. He braced for impact as he drove his fist downward, shattering the icy ground and breaking the pipes underneath. As his arm recoiled from the blow, the stone body of an armos slammed into him, crushing him against the wall as the armos bounced off of him. As he crumbled against the wall, Nicholas reached into the ground to retrieve the piece of pipe as he crushed the Ignition Powder he had prepared to send his body tumbling and sliding along the edge of the wall away from the stone warrior.

While he hurled along the ground, the piece of pipe was thrown out towards the center of the room.

Rika grimaced when Nicholas Warlock Punched the frozen pipes- he'd have to hope none of the ones they needed for the trap were destroyed. Regardless, that wasn't something Rika had the luxury of examining now- he had to get to that pipe, and fast. "Get ready to pull the switch!" Rika barked out, darting ahead towards the center of the room. His Hover Boots flipped on, Rika ice skated across the slick floor like it was natural, catapulting and sliding around and beside the Armos with relative ease. One benefit of the ice, at least, was that they had no traction either.

It was going well, until a burst of steam spewed out in front of Rika. The Kokiri quickly dove and slid to avoid its intense burns, but in doing so slammed right into the metal pipe, sliding with it further away from the exposed piping. Rika slid, and slammed into the wall, grunting as he struggled to push himself away from the wall, pipe now in hand- just in time to avoid being flattened by a charging Armos. Whatever he did, he had to make it to that hole. And there were Armos in his way- one, he avoided, but the other, would likely hit him head on. "Just piss off already!" Rika exclaimed, chucking his glowing, blue scythe at the Armos. On collision, it exploded in a burst of frozen energy, freezing the bouncing titan to the icy ground and stopping its pursuit. That was all Rika needed. Zooming up to it, Rika hastily jammed the pipe directly into the hole, but his slide didn't stop. "Pull it!" He shouted at Nicholas. He could only hope the Hylian had made his way to the correct switch. He also hoped if Nicholas was wrong, he wasn't about to slide face-first into some steaming pipes.

The warrior slammed his clawed gauntlet into the icy floor as he came grinding to a halt. Rika was in motion to put the pipe in place, so Nicholas pulled himself up to get into position. He hurled a sack of Ignition Powder towards the switches to blast back the Armos leaping about as he reached the switch Rika had traced earlier and whipped his arm down to power the line. The telltale hum started to radiate as a chime denoted the activation of the elevator. No sooner had he pulled the switch he ducked out of the way as a statue landed where he had just stood.

"Let us go!" he called out to Rika, shoving the Armos away as he dashed across the room. He sprung across the now ruined icy floors and came stumbling to a stop as he landed in the center on the elevator platform. He could hear gears whirring to life as the old machinery creaked and groaned. Nicholas spun around quickly to check his surroundings, bracing himself as he shoved an Armos off the platform once it landed. Halfway up and they would no longer be able to leap high enough, but luckily small Rika was agile enough to make it.

    Hopefully.
