It had been a long, long day. After coming into town from days of hunting, he had barely caught enough for himself to eat. Not nearly enough to make any rupees for necessities. The prey around here was wise to the tricks of man, and even Kalvar struggled to find them. Perhaps hunting so close to such a big trading hub wasn't exactly the best idea. But... There was inns here. And they actually had comfortable and warm beds for once.

Kalvar dragged himself back into town, just selling his game to the closest butcher he could. At this point, he was too tired to deal with the meat himself. What he needed, was some good soup. And fast. He took his rupees, and left the butchery, but not before almost immediately running into a strange man. With... tons of broken coins, no, kinstone decorations on his robes.

"KINSTONES!" The man yelled out loud, looking out into the crowd of people in the market. "Feeling lucky, buy a kinstone! Find a matching partner, and you might just get something special!" Kalvar himself, just sighed. Buying up kinstones in hopes of ever finding a match was like the lottery. Those guys never sold whole pairs anyways. Otherwise, they'd probably just combine them, themselves.

Speaking of kinstones, Kalvar reached into his bag of rupees to pull out the only foreign item in his wallet. A green clover kinstone. He held it up at eye level, glancing it over a bit. Maybe... It wouldn't be too bad to at least check if this guy had a match. Or maybe, if one was around here somewhere. It was a common one, after all. The soup could wait for five minutes or so.

"Kinstones, kinstones!" Ni'Ran looked up from tending to his weaponry when he heard the peddler come by. Huh. It wasn't that often that he came across actual Kinstone salesmen. Most people who owned Kinstone pieces kept them to themselves, hoping to fuse them with someone instead of selling them off. Maybe the salesman had gotten tired of his lack of luck and started selling his wares... or he had looted them off of corpses or the like. The Rito scratched his head. Would that contaminate the stones, actually? The entire point of Kinstones was that they were given out voluntarily and shared, not stolen.

He sighed, shaking his head. He was normally not this philosophical. He turned back to his sword, only to see movement from the corner of his eye. For the second time, he looked up, seeing a Hylian fellow standing not far away from him with a green Kinstone piece in one hand. Green, huh... He sheathed his sword, now too distracted to continue his work, and rummaged in his pack to pull out his own half. His was green too, which was why the Hylian had drawn his attention. From this far away, the Rito couldn't see the engraving or the exact shape of the fracture on the other's Kinstone.

Only one way to find out, huh?

He stood straight, stretching to pop his back, and walked over, Kinstone still in hand and Alice following behind him cautiously. "Hey there," he said, raising his other hand in greeting. "D'you mind if I take a look at your Kinstone there? I've been looking for my other half." With that, he presented his own Kinstone piece- a green half-circle with what must have been two of four leaflets of a clover etched into one half. The stone it was a part of must have been broken cleanly in two, apart from the big triangular piece that jutted out at the bottom. If the Hylian's had a chunk missing from its bottom in the same shape, they might be in business.

Kalvar suddenly glanced over at the Rito that had walked over towards him. He smiled, just nodding his head in response. Kinstones apparently brought together all kinds of folk. Without these silly little coins, Kalvar probably never would have even looked at him. However, Kalvar was brought out of his thoughts the moment he saw their kinstone.

A green clover, with a large triangle piece at the bottom. Could it be? Kalvar grinned even wider, holding up his own. A perfect match, with the same size chunk taken out of the bottom. "Huh. Today must be my lucky day, huh? Name's Kalvar. A pleasure to meet you."

And with that, Kalvar reached his kinstone over. He had never once held a kinstone before a few weeks ago, let alone fuse one. No idea what to expect as the two stones fused together, the Hylian couldn't help but get rather excited. As far as he could tell the green ones were common, but it still felt like a miracle to find a pair.

When the two green clover kinstones touched, they visibly fused into one piece held by both hands. There came the sound of a soft chime, almost inaudible in the crowd. Not even a moment later, the piece strangely broke apart again.

Kalvar's hand pulled back to discover--unbelievably--that the Green Clover piece he was holding was suddenly... a Red Triforce piece! Quite rare!

When Ni'Ran pulled his hand back, the piece between his fingers began to glow. It transformed into a tiny bead of light, before flickering and flying off into the sky--disappearing into the clouds. He felt a most unusual sensation, a tiny glimmer of hope. That something pleasant would happen in the future; that tomorrow would be a good day. (The next time Ni'Ran or another character of your choosing receives a random kinstone piece, be sure to say the Kinstone Keeper said something lucky would happen!)
