[EVENT] Curiosity Shop

Walking along a dusty trail through a field between towns, in the distance you see a shady-looking figure bearing a tattered, faded-green cloak. As the figure draws closer, you feel slightly less intimidated when the being seems short--perhaps only three feet tall. Closer still, and you can see what might be a Hylian or Gerudo child. When the being is only a few meters away, she pulls down her hood, revealing frizzled shoulder-length green hair. The look in her sapphire eyes makes it's obvious she has seen some shit--and that she's much older than her appearance would suggest.

"I'm a traveling merchant," she stops before you, dropping the words flatly. With a flick of her wrist and the utterance of a word you didn't catch, a rug floats out of its cloak and levitates through the air. Unrolling in the air in front of her, the carpet shows five different treasures, each bearing a numeric label, supposedly symbolizing its rupee cost.

• 9 rupees: A dusty, worn-out Gibdo Mask
• 25 rupees: An equally dirty, but mechanically ornate Beetle
• 30 rupees: A comparatively shiny silver ring with a motif styled after bombs, with a label which reads "Bombproof Ring"
• 18 rupees: A polished, semitransparent white gem, which strangely is simply labeled as "Pulse"
• 20 rupees: A small but faintly-glowing violet legume of some unrecognizable plant, which for some reason is labeled as "Wall-Scaling"

The Kokiri girl sighs softly and glances away, as if she's done this a thousand times before, and doesn't expect you to actually buy anything.


(To purchase any of these items, simply make an in-character post in this thread and deduct your rupees accordingly. This particular Curiosity Shop will close its tent-flap at the end of the month.)

Holle purses his lips, looking at the odd gem and legume.
"Weirdo Kokiri girl, any hints on what these things do?"
A glassy stare is his only response. He tosses the sack of rupees he received from that odd flying moblin fellow, weighing up his chances.
"I'll take 'em both.
Upon acquisition, both gem and legume sink into his hand, giving him temporary crippling pain.
"Din's eyebrows!"
Followed by a complete, comprehensive knowledge of what he had just obtained.
"... Huh. Sweet."

Sienna's layers of armor jostled noisily along the dusty trail. Her bored-looking nonchalant brother Guy shuffled along behind her, hands deep in his pockets, and mind in the clouds.

As the girl approached, Sienna's initial gut response was to brutalize her in ways only a being as insanely depraved as herself could hope to imagine. Her annoying haughty demeanor only served to amplify that, as did the fact she had numerous goods which could be pilfered from her twitching corpse.

Before Sienna could commit murder, however, Guy hastily stepped in front of his sister. "Oh, a Beetle? That's what you call it? I've been wanting one of those..."

Guy turned away from the Kokiri and glared into his sister's eyes, with a look that was both pensive and knowing. If even he could tell this girl was far more than she seemed, then surely Sienna could as well. He didn't want to end the day by getting roasted by some weird spell, let alone with the Kokiri's head impaled on his sister's glaive. He was intent on dissuading his sister's damn ravenous appetite for violence, one way or another.

"I know you always like those masks, Sienna. Why not get the Gibdo one?" He continued the fake air of nonchalant kindness, all while internally he wanted to punch his sister in the face for being so damn obnoxious. "Or the ring? Hell, why not get both?"

Sienna grunted in mild annoyance. Guy was never any fun. Her voice rumbled out quietly, "...and Pulse. ... ...I suppose."

By the time all was said and done, the Deku siblings were walking away with a few treasures, and notably poorer. In truth, Guy didn't particularly want a Beetle, paying 25 rupees was better than being accessory to murder of a(nother) little girl. Maybe some other day. Right now he just wasn't in the mood for it.

Now this was nice. Taking a calm, relaxing stroll between towns with no monsters in sight for once. It wasn't often that Samanosuke found time to relax and clear his head. Most roads in Hyrule were teeming with monsters resulting in the need to be on guard at all points in time. As if to punish him for relaxing the young Hylian soon found himself being stared down by a Kokiri of all things.

It was a strange feeling to have his nerves so rattled by something, someone, so much smaller than him. He would relax once more as the rug unfurled before him. As he eyed the treasures before him nothing really stood out to him until he spotted Pulse. Reaching into his pocket he would remove 18 rupees and place them on the carpet before taking the gem and walking away with a nod and a smile.
