Snowpeak Ruins - Mags 'nd Squish

    Starring:
    Rewards TBA

    ---

The job of headmaster came with a few unpleasant obligations. Or rather a lot, really. A whole lot. Mountains of paperwork, board meetings, keeping the peace between professors and staff, informing relatives of a student's terrible behaviour.

And being out in the middle of nowhere in a heavy snowstorm.

Clarence shivered, pulling the hood a little tighter around his face. Keeping relations with other institutions of great magic potential fell to him. Or in this case, creatures of... interesting potential. Yetis were not exactly known for their arcane arts, yet there had been several troubling reports coming from the snowcapped mountains to the north lately. Some were as vague as simply mentioning 'evil winds blowing', while others specifically stating strange creatures had been seen scurrying through the snow. Creatures other than Yetis, or Wolfos.

And so the esteemed headmaster was slowly trudging up the mountain path, snow reaching up to his knees and slowly starting to drip and melt into his boots. Oh, how he wished for a hot cup of tea right now. Somewhere higher up, nestled between the mountaintops, were the ruins of an expansive estate which a tribe of Yetis called home. And since they were the most numerous inhabitants of this area, it seemed wise to first inform with them, and perhaps recruit a few to navigate the landscape better.

A vague shadow loomed in the distance, obscured by the heavy snowfall.

    Could it be the mansion...?

Sure, she was freezing cold, but this place was so worth it. Snow was everywhere she could see, and it was all she had ever wanted. Ice and snow surrounding her, exploring everywhere her heart desired. Of course, the silly Zora was going to freeze to death eventually if she wasn't careful. Alas, she continued to push forwards despite her chills. Swimming in cold water wasn't that different than walking in the snow, right?

She was thankfully able to walk perfectly above the snow, thanks to her magical ring. Without having to constantly trudge herself through the snow, walking and even running was a breeze. Traversing the mountain top was a breeze. The only difficulty was the incline. And of course, Areyal was getting cocky.

Areyal was running up the slope before she suddenly slipped. Just because she'd never slip on the snow and ice, doesn't mean she wouldn't trip because of her own silly antics. She was quick to roll onto her back, before suddenly realizing something super important. She was sledding down a mountain and this was going to be the most fun she ever had.

That is until she realized rocks were hidden under the snow. Suddenly, a sharp pain jabbed into her back as she continued to slide down. That's it. She had enough fun for today. But there was no real way to stop... not until she hit something to slow her fall. She scrambled for something to hold onto, but the snow just completely gave way. Looks like she was riding this thing down to the bottom.

That is until she suddenly smacked into the side of Hylian she hadn't even seen, colliding feet first against them.

It hit him before he even heard it coming. Something slammed into his legs at high speed, sending Clarence sprawling into the snow.

“E-excuse me?!” He spat out a mouthful of snow, slowly raising his head as the world stopped spinning around him. What had hit him? An avalanche? A Snowfos? No, if it had been a Snowfos he was sure it’d have been gnawing on his throat by now. Clarence looked around, seeing only white.

    Although...

He blinked. A zora? In this cold? It seemed absurd, so far from any known Zora settlements, or any kind of civilisation at all, and yet he was sure he saw flippers peeking out from under the heap.

The snow was melting, seeping into his collar and dripping down his neck. Clarence shuddered at the cold, but at least it helped clear his head up faster. He narrowed his eyes. Yes, he was definitely seeing flippers.

He scampered to his feet, stumbling closer to the pile in the snow.

    “H-hello...? Are you alright?”

Areyal tumbled straight into the snow, rolling like a fish tossed out of a cannon. She was a freezing cold mess, legs sticking straight up. And yet, despite the pain in her body from the rock jabbing her in the back and the collision with the Hylian. At least the voice coming from them seemed to imply they were alright enough to speak.

She slowly scrambled to her feet, yanking herself out of the snow and swiftly brushing any stray snowflakes off her very simple dress. "O-oh! Yes, I'm quite alright! A bit cold, but I'll manage!" Certainly more than just a 'bit' cold, but she was certainly very well accustomed to the cold by now.

That said, she probably should have at least a jacket on.

"Are you alright, Mister Man?" She'd return the question, slowly stepping back and forth to warm herself up a bit and keep moving. Notably, she never seemed to sink beneath the snow she walked upon as if she was weightless. But the impact certainly revealed that falsehood. The Snowshoe Ring that shimmered on her finger would be pretty obvious, however.
"I've been exploring!" She'd explain without really waiting for his response. "The snow is so fun! And so inspiring! I've seen the most beautiful icicles! In fact, I-" She suddenly paused, looking around with a frown.

"Aww, man! My staff must have gotten lost in the collision! What is a Wizard without their magic staff? I need to find it!" She started kicking through the snow, seemingly completely lost in her own mind for a good few seconds. "Can you help? Actually- Wait, sorry! Are you okay?" She'd swiftly turn back to look at them, clearly very easily distracted. "Where are you going up here anyways?"
