Quests are roleplays that take up at least two pages of posting and have a clear beginning, middle, and end. The initial Quest topic should be posted in the Quest Bureau forum for a Moderator to clear. It is recommended that you post the Quest topic before beginning the actual RP; however, it is only required that the topic be posted before the RP ends. In the title of the Quest Bureau's thread, make sure to include either an (Open) tag or a (Closed) tag, which reflect whether the quest is accepting walk-in registrations or not. Be sure to include the members, their characters, the goal of the Quest, and the rewards earned in it. Once the Roleplay has been completed, make an additional post in the Quest Bureau thread saying so; a Moderator will drop by and grade the RP. Please be sure to provide a link to the thread in your post.

The Mod will be checking for four things: first, that some kind of conclusion to the Quest was reached, although it may not be the end desired; second, that the thread was written somewhat decently and was not simply a headlong rush to its rewards; third, that only the stated rewards were earned, and that they were obtained via Roleplay; finally, that all characters were significantly involved. If you wish for a deeper review, you need but request it. If your RP is passed, update your character sheet and move on.

Rupees are used to buy either Profession levels or Treasures, a complete list of which can be found in the Library of Treasures. Every quest gives you a base reward of 40 rupees, with 10 rupees per each of your own characters added on. These rupees may be divided amongst your used characters however you like. These quest rupees exist largely outside of the in-game world and need not be obtained via Roleplay.

Treasures, on the other hand, are obtained strictly through the Roleplay; a character cannot simply *have* a Fire Rod without obtaining it somehow in the thread. Prices are based off of P/W/C scores, as shown in each Treasure entry. Any unspent rupees from a quest will be stored in the respective character sheet. A character can buy as many treasures as his earned rupees will permit; however, if he uses any rupees stored in his character sheet, he may only buy one treasure during that quest.

It is perfectly possible to trade physical treasures with another character, free of charge. However, intangible treasures, such as spells and skills, cannot be transferred except under extended circumstances.

    To summarize the Quest System:

First, make a new thread in the Quest Bureau.
Second, make a thread in the correct area of Hyrule and begin Roleplaying.
Third, post in the Quest Bureau and say that you're finished.
Fourth, listen to the grading Moderator.
Finally, if your thread was accepted, edit your sheet and move on.

If you ever have any questions, feel free to PM any of the moderators.

    Beginning a Quest

Ketchum is new to Hyrule Castle. He's read the rules, skimmed through an RP thread, and chatted with some of the members. He's created his character and had it approved, and he feels ready to begin Roleplaying. The first thing he does is to open up the Quest Bureau forum. This is the thread he makes....

The two unclaimed spots are quickly filled. Ketchum edits the post to include his companions: Lancelot the Strong and Kieran the Kooky. Since he only feels comfortable Roleplaying with two others, he also changes the title of the thread to (Closed). Finally, he settles on a reward.

Soon enough, a Moderator swoops in to grade the thread.

Shadow quickly fixes his error, and RD gives them the all-clear. Ketchum eagerly posts his new thread in the Northern Hyrule section of the forums. And they're off!

    Rewards

Ketchum really wants to give his new character five Ember Seeds. Because this treasure has a fixed price, P/W/C doesn't matter. He pays 15 rupees and is left with 35 rupees to store in his character sheet for later; thankfully, he needn't RP earning the rupees.

Shadow had decided earlier to merely give Lancelot the Fire Enchantment treasure. Because Lancelot has a Power score of 4, this costs him 100 rupees. Because the quest only gives him 50 rupees, he needs to draw 50 from his stash in his character sheet.

Meanwhile, Benjamin needed to obtain the first level of Bombcraft. Because this is the first level of a profession, this costs him a set 50 rupees.

    Completing a Quest

The RP has finished. Unfortunately, due to a mysterious explosion, the contest never reached its conclusion. However, he did make a small name for himself; a dealer from Hyrule Castle Town was interested in his cookery, and the two of them would be meeting later to discuss business.

Ketchum went back to the Quest Bureau thread.

Delighted, Ketchum races to his character's sheet and updates it with everything he's earned.

Thus ends the tutorial. If you have any questions, feel free to PM any of us. We'll be happy to help. :)
